I don't see what is so mean-spirited about her. I can see how the comments about Lynne were a little harsh, but I do believe Vicki about Gretchen. I do think there is something shady about Gretchen that the viewers don't know, and if that is true then I completely understand where Vicki is coming from.
Remember there was something that had happened the night before the races or something?
