It isn't. The covert form is a lot more common.
Plus, EW is probably unlikely to say these things in real life around people who he knows doesn't hold these views. He knows social cues just like almost everyone else does, which is why all -isms have mostly transformed from the "Archie Bunker types" to something less obvious.
