Black or grey was a first choice for me as an aspirant because I assumed the Deltas would wear red. I did not want to appear presumptuous or disrespectful. I also didn't want aspirants coming to me asking for applications or anything  . We weren't told what not to wear, they just trusted that we'd have common sense not to wear red--and even wanted to see what colors we'd choose on our own. They just told us business attire/business casual.

We have worn black and we have worn red. But like your chapter we gave little notice to whether aspirants were wearing those colors. I guess as an alumnae chapter it was no big deal.
I hear ya about not wanting someone comungnup to you as a rushee asking for an application - LOL. But now that more controlled.
