I was an undergrad when the film "Animal House" came out and would confirm that the film did spark an interest in fraternities. And in a positive manner. Frankly, I don't recall anyone looking to join a chapter for it's *animal house* behavior, but for the brotherhood that was portrayed. I think this was simply due to the vast majority of students (both incoming and current) knew that the film was a comedy and that it stereotyped 1960s college life.
