MCR Redux
Hey, guys--my younger daughter gave me an iTunes gift card for Daddy's Day a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it would be a good idea to download the alternative version of MCR that's popped up on various LCA websites.
I've been told that it's by the Chemical Brothers, but I can't seem to locate it anywhere online. The versions I've been able to find are pretty lame-o... Could some of you guys point me in the direction I need to be heading? If you want a sample, visit the Alpha-Omicron site (www.indiana.edu/~lxa/). Thanks in ZAX from an occasionally technically-challenged bro, BF |

Philip Steir did the version for the movie "Go", but I don't think that's the version that Boz is talking about.
The techno remix to Magic Carpet Ride that you're thinking of is by Crystal Method. You can probably download it on Bearshare or some other free service. See, working at a radio station DOES have its privileges! |
ok, i just heard an acostic version of MCR on a Wendy's commercial...weird..
|
Yes, the version on Wendy's is horrible.
I started a thread about that version a few months ago. They even changed the words to it to make it more "politically correct". |
Pretty hard to make a song about being high on drugs "politically correct." It sounds like another case of advertisers not realizing what the heck the song they're using is about.
Ever heard someone play "Born in the USA" at a patriotic event? If they read the lyrics they'd realize how ANTI-patriotic the song is. |
Are We in Puff The Magic Dragon Mode My Brothers?:D

Thanks to all who've responded...now, can you tell me if the Crystal Method version's available on iTunes?
It seems to be available from last.fm & emp3world.com, but I'm not finding it in Apple's gigantic library. If that's the case, can these other mp3's be played in iTunes? Funny how certain acts haven't gone w/iTunes yet. There's only one Eagles song on there... |
It might be available, but if not...
You can download it to a new folder, add the folder to Itunes, and then consolodate your library. |
I agree, you can download it from some other service then have the file converted by iTunes. I use BearShare since it's free.
I believe Crystal Method teamed up with Fatboy Slim for the Magic Carpet Ride remake. Maybe it's under that name. I work for a radio station and have access to a lot of music. If you can't find it I can always e-mail you the mp3 file directly. Let me know. |
