Friendly Venture Fall 2003

As some of you know, my chapter has voted to sponsor a new chapter nearby. As Extension Officer, I will have my hands full with this project, but I am REALLY excited about it:D Rush is absolutely my favorite part of being in a sorority!!

So...I'm wondering if any of you gals have some of your own experiences to share. Mostly, I am hoping that you could each post what you heard/saw/experieced that made you say "Yes! I want to be a Beta Sigma Phi!" Thanks so much.

Erica

P.S. I have already contacted International. The Membership Department has supplied us with Friendly Venture materials.

Friendly Venture Fall 2003

Dear Erica,

Having just participated in 2 years of successful recruitment for our Ritual of Jewels chapter, I thought you might like to hear some of the reasons our newest members gave for joining:

* the warmth and sincerity of the members;
* the obvious bond of friendship established among those already involved;
* the opportunity to have fun with other "quality" women apart from family, school, work, church, or other familiar venues;
* the balance between cultural, social, and service components represented in our chapter's yearbooks and scrapbooks;
* the desire to be part of something that their other friends had found meaningful (several of our newest members have friends who are Beta Sigma Phis in other parts of the country/world, and were recommended to us by those friends, via the membership and rushing department at International).

At every rush party we took the time to go around the circle to introduce ourselves, and the current members told why they joined BSP and what it means to them to continue to be a part of the sorority. Our guests really enjoyed hearing our stories, as well as telling some of their own. ;) We also found the video "Once Upon a Time" (available from International) to be very helpful in telling the overall Beta Sigma Phi story in an engaging and succinct way.

Best wishes on your recruitment efforts for the new Friendly Venture. Your members' love and enthusiasm for sorority will go a long way towards interesting prospective members to join.

Hope this helps!

Thy interested sister Suzi

Thank you, Suzi! Your comments will be very helpful. I am so excited about this process. I'll keep everyone updated.

By the way, Welcome to Greekchat!

Friendly Venture

Thanks for all the great information. As soon as I receive my ROJ degree I am thinking about friendly venturing at my alma mater! We will see how that goes. I am trying to join an on line chapter just to get an extension of our sisterhood and meet other sisters across the nation.

I just found out tonight we no longer have any ROJ's. We are holding a Friendship Faire in on 8/17 (98 women are interested in Beta).:D

Edited to add: We hope to get 2-3 FV chapters from this city wide rush event.

98:eek:
Oh my gosh! That's amazing. That's like 9 chapters. Wow!

I can't wait to hear how things go on the 17th.

Erica
