Struggling sophomore
I am an incoming sophomore, I did my first year out of high school at a community college and raised my gpa from a 2.6 to a 3.1 and missed Fall rush because of a family vacation we had planned for over a year, I really regret missing and want to still rush in the spring. Is it worth a shot or should i just not try? I have two cousins who were Pi Phi and a know the past graduated president at Pi Phi willing to write me recommendation letters. Desperately wanting to be apart of a sorority but wondering if its even a possibilty.

ETA: I just re-read your post.. it sounds like you want to go through informal recruitment in the spring..? If so, not all of the chapters may have openings, and your options could be even more limited. You should contact your school's Greek life office and ask how informal recruitment will work. |

Sororities hold informal recruitment if they are below TOTAL, the maximum number of members the sororities are allowed to have. Most sororities exceed that number after formal recruitment. Panhellenic resets that number higher, which allows some sororities to participate in informal recruitment and/or continuous open bidding. Ordinarily a sorority will not have that many spots available.
Since you missed formal recruitment, your best opportunity will be informal. Contact the Greek life office to get your name on the list. Get recs to all the houses, since no one will know which sororities will be participating until next semester. |
