Who Should be Next!?!?
Last night was the 7th Walk of Fame. Previously they have honored
Michael Jackson Whitney Houston Luther Vandross Diana Ross and 2 others:D They mentioned that Stevie might be next. WHO DO YOU THINK deserves to be next for the Walk of Fame? |

I think Stevie would be a good choice being next. I think that Patti should have been before BoyzIIMen, Whitney Houston, and BabyFace...just my opinion. |

Thanks and that just goes to show how LOOOOOOONG OVERDUE her props were. How are you going to honor new jacks before you honor Chitlin Circuit Veterans?[QUOTE] Dig it Quote:
I was thinking the O'Jays when Gerald was doing his thing, and especially since the O'Jay are my favorite group of all time.:D |
I take it they're only honoring living artists. In that case, I would have to agree with Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, the O'Jays, et al.
If they're looking at artists from different genres, how about Wynton Marsalis? |
Dead or Alive
I don't know about BET and 'em but here on GC if you want a DEAD PERSON to be on the WALK of FAME posthumously, you go right ahead.
From all genres: R&B, RAP, JAZZ, GOSPEL, Country:p -- all of the genres. |
Deceased Walk of Fame nominees
Well, here goes in no particular order:
Soul: Marvin Gaye Rock: Jimi Hendrix Jazz: Duke Ellington Louis Armstrong Count Basie Charlie Parker Dizzy Gillespie Miles Davis John Coltrane John Lewis (head of Modern Jazz Quartet) Gospel: Mahalia Jackson Opera: Marian Anderson Leontyne Price |
I can't believe Stevie Wonder and Patti weren't before those others!!! I definitely think Stevie should be up next!!!!!!!!!Then, he could show Case how it should really be done.
|
My picks are....
Curtis Mayfield
Teddy Pendergrass Barry White Sir Issac Hayes The Tempations I also agree w/Aretha, Tina & Shirley. As long as it's an entertainer(s) who has showed longevity or has made some sort of impact on music. Not just the top-record sellers. |

R&B
Patti LaBelle Brian McKnight GOSPEL Yolanda Adams Fred Hammond CeCe Winans NEGRO SPIRITUALS Jester Hairston William Dawson Undine Smith Moore |
I think at some point they should do ( in no particular order) Janet Jackson, Aretha, Gladys, O'Jays, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Tina, Four Tops, Temptations.

Gerald is the Son of Eddie Levert (founding member of the O'jays), but not a member of the O'Jays, he had his own group Levert. :)

No I meant when Gerald was doing his thing, it just made me think of the O'Jays, not that he is in the group the O'Jays. Sorry for any confusion. |
