You know you're a Delta Gamma when....

Ok, so I thought that this would be kind of fun!

You know you're a Delta Gamma when...

- you get bored in class and scribble anchors or things like "I <3
ΔΓ" on your paper
- you decided that you want cream roses at your wedding (I know I do!!!!)
- you look for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that is anchor-themed.
- you get super excited when you see a car drive by with some sort of DG insignia on it
- you randomly start singing or humming DG songs while doing everyday activities...

feel free to add to the list!!! :D

AnchorAlumna 12-06-2007 10:04 PM

You excitedly point out celebrity DGs, even after your spouse and kids look at you funny!:D

hehe...I do this all the time.

You notice 'DG' on people's license plates...when it's not there on purpose:

DGR 567 :D

hannahgirl 12-07-2007 02:16 PM

When you marry someone with the initials DG! = )

But seriously....not the real reason why!

AnchorAlumna 12-08-2007 02:30 AM

You name your daughter Hannah...or Hope...

atomicflowers 12-14-2007 10:03 PM

I'm loving these!!! Keep them coming! :D

CutiePie2000 12-19-2007 02:41 AM

-You want to get a Raggedy Anne doll for your niece and name the doll "Hannah". :D
-You want to get your niece a "sailor cap" too!

princessjv 12-21-2007 05:03 AM

haha these are all so true for me!!

-any chance fraternities/sororities are mentioned in conversation/seen in a movie/randomly being seen you start and epic talk about Delta Gamma (though this could apply to any member of a glo!)
-anytime you see someone with anchor paraphanelia you immediately think of delta gamma and consider asking the person if they are a member
-when travelling you look around for girls wearing letters, specifically DG letters
-you can think of a way to incorporate dg into any conversation
-you buy things just because a of a "nautical" theme...doesn't even have to have an anchor on it
-you've dressed up as a sailor for halloween

Random story- In Canada we support the CNIB- canadian national institute for the blind, and this year during big day a truck that said "CNIB" across it passed down our road while everyone was outside taking photos and celebrating, a couple of our members saw this and started cheering and screaming....then promptly grabbed their cameras and ran down the street to stop the truck to get a picture beside it, it was too funny!

ajuhdg 12-23-2007 01:30 AM

This will sound stupid, but I won't wear certain color combinations...just because they were our 'rival' sorority's colors... and I graduated awhile back!

When I watch the Legally Blonde movie, I try to remember that even though Elle Woods was a "Delta Nu" in the Legally Blonde movie, she was a "Delta Gamma" in the Legally Blonde book, and that's what REALLY counts, right! ;)

hannahgirl 12-25-2007 03:47 PM

When you've already decided that you are having a legacy and an anchorman and their rooms will be pink and blue respectively....well...with some bronze thrown in there too!

My 10 year old niece likes the Cheetah Girls, and I have told her about DG (and she knows that Sabrina is one). Anyhow, when she sees Sabrina on TV or in magazines, she points out excitedly, "She's a Delta Gamma!". It makes her Auntie so proud! :p

DGMom3 01-21-2008 01:21 PM

1. Your 10 year old daughter knows several DG "cheers" and part of the "Romper Song"
...And when I have a daughter, I'll dress her like a dream
I'll send her off to college to be a DG queen
She'll never be a Chi-O or wear a Kappa Key
She'll never be a Zeta, for she'll be a Delta G!

(And my daughters are double Kappa legacies (my mom and grandma, and every woman on my husbands side of the family are precious Zetas! ;) )

2. I had cream colored roses woven into my bridal bouquet.

When your two youngest sons win Super Bowl MVPs in back to back years!

Congratulations Ladies and to your sister Olivia Manning.

baci 03-12-2008 12:21 PM

You name your first child a "D" name and the next a "G" name. (or you have a list of names starting with D and G for when the joyous time arrives)

Amen to that! I doubt if that will EVER be repeated!

One of my guest rooms is done in a nautical type theme. Lots of lighthouses but it just gives me an excuse to throw in some anchors, including a mug with an anchor that my secret sis gave me - 40 years ago! (ouch)

You know you're a DG when...

1.) You name your dog Skipper, Sailor, or Hannah...
2.) Your kids wore only Bronze, Pink, and Blue until they were old enough to pick their own clothing.
3.) You go crazy when you see/hear/read any mention of DG in the media (positive, that is).
4.) Your husband knows the songs and cheers because you spontaniously sing/shout them while cleaning house, driving the kids to games, or sleeptalking.

atomicflowers 08-27-2008 09:31 PM

your notebooks, pens, binders, and things like your stethoscope, bandage scissors & watch are either pink or blue :D

When you're taking your only child, male, on college tours and tell him the only place he is allowed to find a date is the DG house.

JennRN 08-29-2008 09:41 AM

Hubby and I were at Pier 1 last weekend buying decor for the house and without realizing it I accumulated 2 pink candles, 2 blue candles, and was heading for some bronzyish candles when I realized what I was doing. I was like-yay, DG candles!!! Hubby was like- We aren't doing our house decor in homage to DG. So, no bronze candles for me.....yet......:p

Why thanks, AnchorAlumna! He knows where the DG house is on 7 campuses and wouldn't you know his first choice is the ONE university where we don't (currently) have a chapter. I believe that we WILL have one there the same year he starts college, though, so I still have hope. :D

AnchorAlumna 01-02-2009 04:36 PM

At the University of Alabama?
Beta Psi chapter is slated to return in Fall 2010!

Yes, that is the one. If he doesn't change his mind (he'd have to get a really good scholarship offer from someplace else), he & DG will be hitting UA the same year.

Nancy1 02-02-2009 12:06 AM
