WORST MOVIE

I didn't want to post this under the "Fav Movie" since I had to already add the "hate" column to the perfume poll http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif But what are the worst movies you've ever seen and why?

Mine is a tie between Fallen and The Cable Guy -

Fallen could have been AWESOME if they would have worked that whole demon storyline thing instead of just having Denzel run around watching the spirit sing to him from one body to the next. More than anything it turned out to be so boring - although, it did leave the door wide open for a sequel.

Cable Guy just never really brought the point to fruition. I understand the whole TV warps the mind theme, but the dysfunctional relationship was never really brought into that. Just stupid.

*As a side note, I am a HUGE movie buff. But my husband HATES watching movies with me because I analyze the he@# out of them (for example: 6th Sense - when he went to pull the files about that guy, he had them listed by name....okay this is impossible. Patients are given numbers - not names...on ANYTHING - least of which medical charts!) So I guess that's why I want to know what makes us love some movies, but hate others!

Okay well i know that some people, mainly guys, will disagree with me on one of the movies i am going to post as WORST movie i have ever seen, but just remember its MY OPINION http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif okay, well now that i have mentioned that... i hate The Postman, i almost fell asleep in the theatre, and it was so dang long!!! Another was The Matrix, i didnt understand and was very bored- almost fell asleep in the theatre again, i actually wanted to walk out! My brother has it so i have the option of watching it again and trying to understand it, but i really dont want to go through that anymore!! Remember, just my opinion! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I absolutely hated Pulp Fiction. The way the scenes kept skipping around. In one scene someone is dead, but later on in the movie they're alive again. Then you couldn't tell what time period the movie was set in. Samuel L. Jackson was wearing a jheri curl and both he and John Travolta were wearing old looking clothes. Then the car they were driving looked old also, but all of the other cars on the road looked modern.

This movie just sucked, bottom line.

Stace1920 11-15-2000 03:50 PM

Thumbs down to The Blair Witch Project. I just hated that movie. I heard Blair Witch 2 is a Bomber.

mgdzkm433 11-15-2000 04:37 PM

Anything with adam sandler. sorry folks, jut don't like his movies. I think he's a funny guy, but his movies suck! I hate the way he talks like a little boy. I think he's annoying. I do however, like some of his tapes and his stand up. I love that stuff, he just does a bad job trying act.

brady movies

country westerns

sci-fi (including star trek), but I have to note that I do like star wars

prospectiverushee 11-15-2000 06:07 PM

The Cell w/h Jennifer "Sean Puffy Combs" Lopez sucked big time. I guess that movie was suppose to be scary, but I honestly thought about getting up and asking for my money back

How Stella Got Her Groove Back- The movie was so cheesy. I liked the book much more then the movie, but I think that books are much more better then the moives based upon them anyway

33girl 11-15-2000 07:02 PM

I classify a bad movie as one that afterwards I say in dismay, "I spent two hours of my life on THIS?"

So under that terminology...hands down, the worst movie I've ever seen is Singles.

preppie 11-15-2000 07:27 PM

SPICE WORLD! Hands down!

Alumnus who cares 11-16-2000 09:35 AM

All right, as long as you make it clear that you thought Spice World was a really bad movie, we'll forgive you for admitting that you saw it in the first place! : )

As for myself...The Pallbearer was really dumb. You'd think you can't go wrong with David Schwimmer and Gwyneth Paltrow in a romantic comedy, but they somehow found a way to muck it up.

I just rented Wes Craven's New Nightmare, since I've always been a fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. WASTE O' MONEY.

I don't know if anyone remembers a movie called Blind Date, with Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger. That was pretty lame. Of course, the fact that I saw the movie on a blind date, and I wasn't too crazy about the girl that my friend set me up with, may have contributed to that.

I also rented Dr. Strangelove recently, since I had heard that it was one of the greatest movies ever made, and I turned it off less than a half hour into it because it was so boring.

And finally...Batman and Robin. Stupid, cheesy, ridiculous, lame characters, REALLY bad script, poor acting, stupid plot...I could go on and on.

CutiePie2000 11-16-2000 10:55 AM

The Fabulous Baker Boys - was very boring.
The English Patient - zzzzzzzz

I haven't seen Dr. T. and The Women but I know 2 people who did, and save your $$$, it is supposed to be a stinker.

KarenC725 11-16-2000 05:08 PM

Being John Malkovich. I could not stand that movie. Funny as this one is, Superstar with Molly Shannon was a pain to get through too.

tickledpink 11-16-2000 11:16 PM

LAKE PLACID! I was so angry at how God Awful that movie was I put my head down on purpose and went to sleep in the theater.

juniorgrrl 11-16-2000 11:42 PM

*Mission Impossible 2 - I left that movie
wishing for those 2+ hours of my life back.

*Titanic - Overacted, oversentimental, and
fake boobs - need I say more?

*Idle Hands - I felt dirty for days that that
disc even came *near* my DVD player

prettypoodle6 11-17-2000 03:55 PM

Held Up, with Jamie Foxx and Nia Long. One scene (a convenience store) dragggggged on for 2 hours???? How much money could they have invested in this movie??? And when they read the script, what in the hell made them think "I WANT TO BE IN THIS ONE CAUSE ITS GONNA BE A WINNER!?" From Soul Food to Fish Food - this movie was FOUL!

If anyone knows the ending please let me know...

Yes, that movie MI:2 was a stinker! That movie makes me want to sing:
"Face On!" (clap! clap!)
"Face Off!" (clap! clap!)
(to be sung to the tune of "The Clapper", from that TV infomercial)

ZTAngel 11-30-2000 11:56 AM

I know a lot of guys liked this movie but I saw it with my boyfriend and I just could not keep my eyes open. I was soooo bored towards the end that I was begging him to leave the theater with me. Too bad he was so enthralled by it. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif The movie is "Any Given Sunday". I guess I'm just not a big football fan!

Rain Man 12-03-2000 07:04 PM

OK, my worst movies

Hav Plenty--2 hours about a black writer, and three women just talking about nothing. And at the end of the flick his writing became a movie that featured Nia Long and Lauren Hill. I saw this at the theatres and I almost broke my rule on never walking out on a theatre movie, no matter how bad it is.

Any movie with Brian Hooks (Q, Nothin' 2 Lose, 3 Strikes)

Any movie by an independent black filmmaker (How I Spent My Summer Vacation, Preacher Playa, etc.)

Oh, and I just rented another one of those black independent flicks last night called "Everybody Plays the Fool"). About a golddigging ghetto hoochie who married a nerdy successful writher and tries to get him killed to collect his insurance payoff which backfired. Between the horrible acting, the lousy special effects, and the "bad stunts", oh and the repetitive techno-beat music, it looked like a sexless porno movie (how's that for an oxymoron)?

For movies like these, where's Tom Servo and Crow when you need them (MST3K thing).

I thought I was the only one that hated Hav Plenty. I wanted to slap that chick in the movie, what was her name...Haviland or something?

Another terrible movie: I rented 28 Days over the weekend....I thought it was straight garbage.

Eyes Wide Shut- Was there a plot to that movie?
Deep Blue Sea- the man got his arm bit off, & you could see where his real arm was bent under his jacket.

Franny Granny 12-15-2000 07:21 PM

I know I'm late...but.... UNBREAKABLE (Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson)....What?...was the plot....was the point...was I doing sitting there....AND WHY?...was the movie nothing like the previews....were me and my brother making up inventive ways to sneak out of the theatre....

Hav Plenty was "plenty" awful...the best thing that came out of it was the sound track...

Next Friday....Was a big disappointment...And you know this maaaaan...

The remake of Pyscho (with Ellen Degenere's girlfriend)...they should have left well enough alone...Alfred needed NO assistance....

And by far the STOOOOOPIDEST movie of allllll times....SCARY MOVIE.....

AlphaChiGirl 12-17-2000 11:33 PM

Player's Club...that acting (or lack thereof) was DISASTROUS!

I do, however, love "Singles"...

ahhkbah 12-24-2000 01:12 AM

Speed 2-What the h$*l
Fled-couldn't watch it all
Cop&half-I know why Burt Reynolds is bankrupt
Demi Moore-insert movie title
The Postman-never should have been delivered
Titanic-3hrs for a ship to sink...uhh Beavis?

ahhkbah 12-24-2000 01:16 AM

oh yeah and I left out ...
The Matrix-please Keanu, no mas

RainMan-isn't the independent Black filmmaker criticism a bit harsh?

Unregistered- 12-24-2000 01:30 AM

I hated "Any Given Sunday". I love football, but this movie just sucked.

Oh-and I think "Friday" is too overrated.

If you have seen the ones I had, NO!

In short, if the moral to the story is strong and the other movie aspects are weak, then the movie would hold it's own in that regard, otherwise, everything about it is bad. Don't worry, I've seen independent mainstream movies and have said the same thing about them.

Battlefield Earth. Worst movie ever. How does a 2000 years old F-18 still function perfectly? How do those people learned in exact formation only after 2 days of practice in a simulator. What do you expect from L. Ron Hubbard, the man who created a corporate religion. I guess since we have two corporate political parties, we need a corporate religion

ahhkbah 01-01-2001 06:34 PM

Rain Man-Understandable, I feel you.

Calendar Girl, most Dan Akroyd/Chevy Chase movies.

Dracula 2000. I know that's pretty recent, so I won't give the ending away, but it was real let down. The plot was never entirely explained anyway. Not too much character devolopement but the acting was pretty solid. The good actors just didn't have enough lines. But The main reson its bad-this isn't the surprise ending-Dracula dies. Forever. Like, there will be no more movies ever. He's always supposed to escape into a cloud of mist, or twitch before the lights go out...but no. He's dead forever. That is just plain wrong!!!!

Add "Dude Where's My Car?" to the list. I thought it was just me, but even my BF hated it, and he's usually into stupid films like that.

LOL Soror6, yes I am out of town! I told the BF that I'd stay away from the PC while we're in Torrance, but I've been secretly online while he's in the shower. I made his father promise to not tell! So far I've been limited to just reading and not posting so he can't hear the sound of the keyboard-the clicking of the mouse is much softer!

The trip's going great so far and his parents are fabulous. His friends so amazing and fun to be with--it seems like I've known them forever instead of 9 hours!

Without a doubt, the very worst movie I've seen in a long time is CASTAWAY. I know everyone thinks it is this profound movie, but... Here's the plot - guy crashed in an airplane and plays Survivor on a tropical island with a volleyball (named Wilson) and when he finally gets back to the real world !!shock!! he finds out that the world continued to function without him and he can't understand it. I thought the movie was such a let down. It wasn't even entertaining to the point that I could laugh at the actor making fools of themselves. I wished I had gone to see something - ANYTHING - else.

Rain Man 01-12-2001 06:35 PM

Oh, I almost forgot, the undeniably WORST movie I have ever seen was a flick called: Hamburger: The Movie. Oh, it was AWFUL. About a guy named Russell (Leigh McCloskey) who got expelled from every university due to lewd conduct, so in order to get a family inheritance, he attends Busterburger University, where you literally major in fast food. Dick Butkus is this drill sergeant, spatula totin' whatever. From there, the movie insults and degrades women, overweight people, Black people, Hispanic people, police officers, etc. It blasphemes the Lord (at chapel, the choir sings "Glory Busterburgerlujah"), etc, etc. It came out in 1986, so it's not that old. But as one reviewer said, "Put this one on the back burner". I first saw this in 9th grade and actually thought this movie was funny. How sad.
