What video games are you playing?

In this here thread we talk about video games we've been playing lately.

The most recent games for me are (all PS2 except Ys)

The Warriors
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
Final Fantasy X-2
Smackdown vs. Raw 2006
Def Jam: Fight for NY
Ys Book 1 (downloaded onto my phone)

PiKA2001 03-15-2006 11:48 AM

I have a bunch of games that I have yet to play at home. I'm one of those people who run out and buy the new game systems and buy games for them just to let them sit. I am looking forward to PS3 though.

AlphaFrog 03-15-2006 11:59 AM

The most recent game I've played was Zelda: Majora's Mask, and before that it was Ocarina of time, and before that the Super Nintendo version and before that the regular nintendo version. In fact, my best friend told me that when Nintendo makes a new system, he'll mail me his gamecube so I don't have to buy one for the sole purpose of playing Wind Waker. (I have a Zelda thing, if you can't tell - I haven't found any other games I much care for)

Lady Pi Phi 03-15-2006 12:28 PM

I'm going old school!

Yesterday I brought out the old NES and played a little Mario 3!!!

Last weekend my boyfriend bought thins controller and it stores 76,000 games! (although the games actually repeat themselves so it's really more like 30). We've been playing Mario 1 and Tetris.

I had one of those once - it was pretty cool. (It's not Zelda though;) ;) )

Thrillhouse 03-15-2006 06:10 PM

I pulled out the sega genesis recently and have been playing some classics like Joe Montana football and games like that.

Lately I have been playing the newest Tiger Woods golf game and ESPN football 05. I'm not sold on the new MLB game so I think I will reorder the rosters on last years MVP game and do another season on there.

NutBrnHair 03-15-2006 07:19 PM

I'm hooked on the Golden Tee Golf machines that you see everywhere now. Lots of fun -- plus, I score better than in real golf!

nonchalant 03-23-2006 11:24 AM

If this thread is successful, this will be one of my favorites. I love video games. The last game I played and beat was Final Fantasy X-2. The one before that was Final Fantasy X. I love the FF series. The next game I plan on playing will be Max Payne. I started it awhile ago and never continued it. I have most systems that have come out. I don't have the new X-Box 360. My favorite genres are fighting, RPGs, puzzle, action/adventure, and horror. I pretty much play everything except sports. I'm so excited!:D

BSP_Nicole 03-23-2006 05:22 PM

I'm a World of Warcraft addict.

jwright25 03-23-2006 05:32 PM

My husband used to manage a Gamestop. So he is "on the pulse" of the video game industry - even now that he is long out of it. We are currently playing on the xbox 360 - I am addicted to Bejeweled and he plays all kinds of things - Tiger Woods, Ghost Recon, and something that he just got this week where he kills trolls. And we also do a little online poker.

We play that all the time when we go to the bar.

Yeah, not too long ago I got back into FFX-2...I'm at this part where you go underground, fight Shiva, then these three bug looking people but they are kicking my ass. It's not quite as good as FFX. I still think FF7 is the best.

I think I'm going to have to buy Guitar Hero and especially Beat Mania since it's out now (you might have seen it in the arcade, it had some buttons like piano keys and a turntable.

Yes, I think FFVII is the best too. Has the best story line and various different ways to go through the game depending upon answers to questions and choices made. The 3 sisters are the bug ladies you are fighting. They were aeons in FFX. It took me awhile to beat them too. Once I found out how to beat them, I was made because it was real easy. You just have to know how to accessorize.

I have the slightest clue what those other games are. They sound interesting though. Haven't been to an arcade in years.

TristanDSP 03-23-2006 07:00 PM

GTA: San Andreas
Winning Eleven 9...forget FIFA, Winning Eleven is where it's at

dzfan 03-24-2006 03:26 PM

Over the past couple of weeks, i have really been into amped 3 -- there is nothing better than a good snowboarding game especially with a psychedelic twist. Good times -- anyone played?

KatieKate1244 03-25-2006 12:05 PM

The Lemonade Game is the only video game I play.

The Lemonade Game

JonInKC 04-03-2006 01:49 AM

Well I've been playing Resident Evil 4 lately. And as I'm learning in the game, and hopefully will never have to learn in real life, crazy woman + chainsaw can spell instant death for me.

I love the Resident Evil series. I haven't played 4 yet. I need to get back into it(the series). I wonder how 4's story ties into the rest of them. Is it good so far? I hear they did a great job on making the zombies look different on this one versus most of them looking the same. I hear they are more intelligent too.

JonInKC 04-03-2006 02:43 PM

Then go buy it. Right now. Seriously, it's that good.

I'll check pricing on half.eBay. I also will probably buy FFCC and some others on the wishlist.

Dionysus 04-03-2006 02:58 PM

I can't wait until Rockstar's "Bully" come out. I loved R*'s GTA series, I hope they please me with this game.

RACooper 04-03-2006 05:10 PM

Elder Scrols IV: Oblivion baby! I think I'm in nerd heaven right now :D

alphaxikt 04-04-2006 06:25 PM

I currently love playing Paper Mario on my friend's GameCube, but I'm firmly stuck as a shadow at the moment. I get frustrated when I can't figure out what to do next.

I wanted to get that game too. I hear it's an RPG. Has anyone played Super Mario RPG? If so, are these games along the same lines?

I really don't care for Rockstar games. What is Bully supposed to be about?

JonInKC 04-04-2006 11:04 PM

Bully basically lets you go around and terrorize other students. Give them swirlies in the toilet, etc. I think you can screw with the teachers too. I remember reading about it.

Sounds like a typical Rockstar game. It will probably be very pointless. Another State of Emergency.

nonchalant 04-04-2006 11:25 PM

My Mistake

I just went to the Rockstar games website, and I realized that I do like their games. Max Payne is what I'm playing now. I also love the GTA series. Didn't realize what that stood for earlier. I do not care for State of Emergency though. Had to re-educate myself on their games. Sorry! BTW, is it just me or does the shield for Bully also look like a certain sorority's crest?

BigCityStripper 04-05-2006 11:23 AM

I'm still toolin around with 007's From Russia With Love that I got this last Xmas. Got a chance to play a lot during the break, but since school's been back in I haven't had too much time for it.

And what's currently in my PS2 is EA Sports MVP 06 NCAA Baseball. This is the first baseball game I've had since I had one for my Genesis and I'm havin fun seeing the advancements in the genre. The Load and Fire hitting is by far one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in a game but I'm startin to get it figured out. I kinda don't like it, cause this game requires too much concentration to play while drinking :)

JonInKC 04-14-2006 07:42 PM

I'm almost at the end of Resident Evil 4. It's so addicting. I guess when I beat this I'll have to check out the new Tomb Raider. It's supposed to be pretty tight.

Cool. Does the storyline tie into the rest of them? How many characters can you use starting off? I'm almost done with Max Payne. **I think**

JonInKC 05-04-2006 12:46 AM

Resident Evil 4 was SO time-consuming and addicting. After you beat it, more options open up to beat. That's where the other playable characters come into play.

Playing the new Tomb Raider...and about to look up the walkthrough b/c I'm stuck on the first level...

I got Mister Mosquito thru Gamefly and never got to play it b/c of the stupid blue disk. Someone thought it would be neat to write the game onto a blue surface. The older ps2s won't read them and make horrible noises.

nonchalant 05-06-2006 08:40 PM

I beat Max Payne. The ending was okay. I just received Max Payne 2 and Mortal Kombat Deception. We'll see how those go.

Kingdom Hearts 2
Resident Evil 4

I want Kingdom Hearts 2 so bad. The first one was great. I'm a huge Disney fan. RPGs are also my favorite genre. What a great combination.

Star Wars: the Clone Wars is quite difficult. That's what I'm really concentrating on right now. I have too many games that I'm playing at once.

AGDee 05-07-2006 01:47 PM

I bought Kingdom Hearts 2 for my son yesterday. It was on sale at Best Buy for $40 instead of $50 and I owed it to him (birthday present, but it wasn't out when he had his birthday). He'll be surprised when he gets back from his Dad's house :D

kellybell 05-07-2006 03:55 PM

World of Warcraft, and Ultima Online, old but still fun sometimes.

JonInKC 05-08-2006 06:49 AM

As my parents (well, my mom mostly) tear apart the inside of their house going thru junk and getting rid of a lot of stuff, they found my old GameBoy! I thought one of my roommates stole it years ago! I'm looking for some good games to buy for it...the video game stores have what looks like a lot of crappy titles.

JonInKC 05-19-2006 06:00 PM

I beat Tomb Raider Legend some time ago.

What to play now?

Duchovnysfan 05-20-2006 04:23 AM

I should be playing Gran Turismo 4 but it has yet to come to my house, so really that's what I want to play right now. Right now I'm playing nothing :(

JonInKC 05-31-2006 02:58 AM

Ok, so I got Kingdom Hearts 2 in the mail today. I started playing tonight. So far it seems like a movie with little parts in between that you can play. Also, you can't skip the cutscenes.

I really hope the whole game's not like this.

'Cuz if it is...*shakes fist*
