Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Has anyone seen them? Anyone have their CD? I'm a huge fan of their version of Carol of the Bells and it's my current ring tone. I'm thinking about going to see them.
|
name sounds slightly familiar but I know nothing of this orchestra. Are they from Siberia or do they just travel through it?
|
I know nothing of them except they're an orchestra that uses more than just regular orchestra instruments, such as pianos and guitars... I think. I've heard a few songs and they're pretty cool.
Did I spell Syberian wrong? Is it Siberian? |
They're playing in Dallas next weekend I think!!
|
|
They have been on the Biggest Rock Station (Represented by some Members) in Kansas City.
They play a lot of thier busic, beleive it or not. Touted By Johnny Dare The DJay! Damn Impressive From What I Heard!!! Man, I would love to have them on a DVD with surround sound!S:cool: |
if it's Siberia like the area in Russia...then yes, it's mispelled (just replace the y with an i. Unless it's a gimmick to the name of the orchestra)
|
Who cares, Music is Fantastic!!!!!!

I was replying to PM's question.

I'm a huge TSO (fyi, the spelling is "Siberian) fan, have been for about 8 years. I've been to several concerts and have all the CDs.
Here are my sneaky pics I took this year We were 5th row this year. Last year we were 2nd row, but we weren't as lucky this year. They have one non-Christmas CD out so far called Beethoven's Last Night . They've finished ther CD called Nightcastles and it should be out this spring. They pretty much formed out of the metal group Savantage. They are incredbile. /TSO geekiness |
Wow those pics look amazing! I wana see them now!
|
They're definitely worth the $. Sorry the pics are so blurry, lights were flashing like crazy from the show, but we couldn't use flash or they'd take our cameras.
If you like their music, check out some of the bands the mebers of TSO are part of. My two favorites are ZO2 (David Z, the bass player's band) and Chris Caffery, the lead guitarist. I'm not normally into metal at all, but I enjoy them. Here is a link to the current tour members' websites. There are 2 tours every year, east and west coast. I prefer the east coast band, but that's just me. They're both exceptional, though. Definitely amazing performers. The lights and lasers add so much to the music. |
I saw them for the first time this year. Definitely a show to see. Lots of overload on the senses though. The first half of the show was a story (based off of the "Christmas Eve and other stories" album) and then music went with it. Some of it dragged a bit, but it picked up later. Second half of the show was a collection of holiday and Beethoven.
All I can say is their version of "Flight of the Bumblebee" is hilarious and so fun to watch. |

OMG I love, love, love TSO. I have seen them in concert every year they have came to PHX for the last five years. (Although two years ago they didn't come to up here, they were in Tucson).
Their concert this year was just this past Friday and they played to a crowd of almost 11,000!!!!! They actually stated that this crowd broke their records! They had never played to this big of a crowd before. I told my parents that they better expect even more next Christmas. LOL. (See last year they played at the Dodge Theater and it housed like 5000 and the concert was sold out, so I figure next Christmas their attendance will be more like 15,000). I have all 4 albums thus far (Christmas Eve and Other Stories, The Christmas Attic, Beethoven's Last Night & The Lost Christmas). I am so excited for Nightcastles to come out. They played some songs from it, their Carmina Burana rendition was AMAZING!!!! I'm such a dork. :D |

ASUADPi, I'll bet that crowd was amazing. I love the show. I heard they are switching the first half from "Christmas Eve & Other Stories" to "Lost Christmas Eve" in 2007. Only one more year of the good ol' story.... If they don't play "Old City Bar" when they switch shows, I think I'll cry. They started previewing Carmina a few years ago. I LOVE it. I accidentally got some on video (I didn't realize my camera was on video and not picture), and it's fabulous :) |
I've heard of this group... I'm not sure I'm familiar with their work.
I hate Christmas music though, so that may be why. |
I've heard their stuff on the radio but am really not familiar with them. They seem to pop up on my radar at Christmas time each year. Are they basically a holiday group?
Curious. |
3 of their 4 albums are Holiday music. Most members were part of the metal group Savantage. Their second non-holiday CD will be out this spring/summer.
|
I went to the TSO show last night. While it was good, I hoped they would have played more Christmas music. The narrator/voice guy got annoying after awhile. I feel like there wasn't enough "music" as there should have been during the 1st half of the show (when they were doing Christmas stuff. Some of the Christmas stuff was like whaaaa?)
Our choices this weekend were to see the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and TSO... we chose TSO this year, but we will probably pick Dallas Sym. Orch. for the years to come. It was a pretty good show, but not quite what I thought it was going to be. |
My mom bought one of their CDs. I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the whole thing but Carol of the Bells BETTER be on there! That's my ringer right now. :)

T*P, their CDs are all rock operas, which is why they have all the narration. I like that better than regular concerts because there is a good story for the first half of the show. Most of their music is original, not traditional carols, so they don't seem Christmasy to non-TSO fans. You saw the West Coast group, and I definitely think TSO East is better. For anyone interested, here is the story behind "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo". It's yet another reason TSO is one of my favorite bands :) |

I was worried for a minute that the violin chick's head was going to fall off her body from her banging it so hard while playing :p |

I seem to be in the minority here. I really don't care for TSO's music. Robert Earle Keen's "Merry Christmas from the Family" -- now that's good Christmas music. |
Bump :)
Presale tickets for Trans-Siberian went on sale today. We're front row center :) Anyone else going to see them this year? THey're definitely worth the money. It's a fabulous show! |
