Begin and end the year with the Yankees. That should be interesting. Least the Yankees have to watch the Sox get their rings and watch the Sox raise the WS banner at the season opener at Fenway.

We get to play the Cubbies at Wrigley. That should be fun, especially if Nomar is still there.

docetboy 10-30-2004 01:37 PM

Hoo, Red Sox playing at Wrigley! Sweeet!

GO CUBBIES!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!

I can't wait for this game. I am sure that many Cardinal fans will also be looking forward to this game... I will be back in STL at this time and am thinking I might go to the game and experience it all!

valkyrie 10-30-2004 02:16 PM

I'm already planning my pre-world-series-cubs-victory party.

KSigkid 10-31-2004 12:08 PM

Yankees off-season will be extremely interesting. I honestly don't see them signing Beltran; my guess is he goes back to Houston, although the Yankees do need someone to play center field. Bernie just isn't going to cut it defensively next year.

They'll dump Brown and Vasquez, although I'd be more inclined to keep Vasquez and just dump Kevin. I could see them making a run at Eric Milton...they don't have any left-handed starters, and he's a former Yankee farmhand (although he has major injury issues).

Should be interesting, I'll post more later.

moe.ron 11-06-2004 12:26 PM

Rumor I've read on the net:

Tino might be heading back to the Yankees.

Thrillhouse 11-07-2004 01:23 AM

The home run derby at the All Star game in Comerica Park should be interesting this year.

KSigkid 11-09-2004 09:21 AM

ESPN.com is saying Sammy will stay in Chicago next year; it's getting to be an every-offseason thing where he criticizes management.

KSigkid 11-09-2004 03:06 PM

Good article, and honestly not a bad way to improve the Yankees for next year; the payroll is going to jump, we all know that, so why not make it a quality jump?

Taualumna 02-19-2005 07:02 PM

Now that spring training has started, let's bump this thread!

Haha, I was wrong about this one, huh?

I am so excited for the Braves to start playing!

Every year we get sooo close, dangit. I was at the last World Series game we won a long time ago, lol. Just a kid but I remember it very well! My dad works for a major soft drink company so we had box seats and everything....wonderful! My ex is from Pittsburgh though so he HATED it! lol! Maybe this year will be our year again! and Brian Jordan is back home!

April 8th is the home opener against the Mets. Can't wait!
(edited cause i messed the date up!)

Did anyone else see Barry Bond's tirade today at the Giants pressconference? He just exploded on the media, accused them of spreading lies and said that he's only lied once or twice in his life. IMO, yeah, he comes off looking like a jerk, but I sensed a lot of sincereity in his anger. I also loved how he just flat out called Jose Canseco a biotch.

That's the thing; my first reaction to the conference was that it was rambling and a little odd. After watching hightlights of it again, though, I'd say it's one of the more honest interviews he's had. Was he honest? I don't know, and I'm not sure anyone but Barry knows.

I think, when it's all said and done, he cares what people think. When he eventually breaks Hank Aaron's home run record, he's not going to want people think he did it by cheating.

Sister Havana 02-23-2005 11:14 AM

Cubs tickets go on sale on Friday! :D

CSUSigEp 02-26-2005 08:33 PM

the A's are going to suck this year  Oh well I can always just go to Rivercats games

polarpi 09-29-2005 01:15 AM

Yeah, I'm resurrecting an old thread...

But Yay for the Padres (even if everyone thinks this division is a joke..;) :D)

KSigkid 09-29-2005 07:30 AM

It's getting time for the best series of the year; Yankees/Red Sox to decide the AL East and possibly the final playoff spot.

Let's play a game... How many anxiety attacks will Nic have this year?? Also, my friends are all being lame and not wanting to go to the ave for the games. I'm not too happy right now.

so damn cool 09-29-2005 10:41 AM

Damn, Giants were eliminated last night.

They blew 2 damn games to the Padres.

Oh well, guess it's best to have Bonds heal up and get ready to break Aaron's HR record next year.

Sorry, Kid, but I'm hoping the Indians will lock up the wild card and not the Yanks/ BoSox.

Thrillhouse 09-29-2005 04:54 PM

White Sox clinched the central today, woohoo!

TristanDSP 09-29-2005 05:11 PM

That's fine, as long as the Yankees get the other playoff spot. Yanks/Sox would be nice in the playoffs, but I want NY in there somewhere.

KSigkid 11-23-2005 11:49 AM

Bumping for the off-season...

It looks like the Sox have Josh Beckett locked up in a pretty good deal. Now it appears that Carlos Delgado is headed to the Mets, and there's a rumor that Adrian Gonzalez, a former #1 pick, may be headed to the Red Sox from the Rangers. That deal would certainly put Kevin Youkilis' future, as the Lowell move puts him at first base.

Also, it looks like overspending is back, at least to some level; Scott Eyre somehow got $11 million, and Billy Wagner could end up with $10 million a year from the Mets.

Any thoughts on these or other moves so far?

Thrillhouse 11-23-2005 05:55 PM

Figures that the red sox-yankees arms race would take most of the headlines again this year. I haven't paid much attention yet to the offseason (can't get over the 2005 season) but one might think that Burnett would be heading to New York now. Maybe?

Florida has been pretty interesting, if they are indeed moving, wouldn't you want to keep a few decent players around for a new city?

I can't believe that middle relievers/closers are rumored to be getting as much this year

The1calledTKE 11-23-2005 06:20 PM

Thome and cash are going to the White Sox for Rowand. Thats nuts.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm not as disapointed about Rowand leaving as I am mad that they got Thome who isn't exactly reliable at this stage of his career.

That's my thinking also...I feel bad for Marlin fans with this latest fire sale.
