BET'S WALK OF FAME Honors SMOKEY ROBINSON
Congratulations to singer Smokey Robinson! He is going to be honored on the BET Walk of Fame. The ceremony will air on BET October 26th.
Stevie Wonder, Joss Stone, Gerald Levert, Brian McKnight, Usher, Gladys Knight and India Arie will be on hand to serenade Smokey. |
Let us bow our heads and pray that the show to honor Smokey does justice to his musical career.
((saying under breath)) Not like that hot mess tribute they gave Stevie Wonder. :o |
Okay....Maybe I am really late on this but.....
I just watched Boys II Men perform, and I had NO IDEA the lead singer *I am having a brain fart right now, so forgive me* was an Alpha....Did you guys peep he was wearing a black jacket with the Alpha Crest???
At any rate. CONGRATS Smokey....You are truly an EXCELLENT artist!!!! You just don't find too many artist that are talent in writing as well as performing. ...I never realized how many HITS he had!!!!!  :D :D |
So far, the performances have been great! It's about time they had a good Walk of Fame!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Wanya was an Omega. Well, that's what I heard. |
CONGRATS to Smokey !!!!
Everyone did a great job performing his songs...... ESPECIALLY New Edition!!! However, I don't like the pink shirt and tie thing... but that's just me..... On another note.... I heard the same thing that Wanya Morris was an Omega Man..... imagine my surprise when I saw the Alpha Crest!!! I asked Mr. zetafg (an Alpha man) to check that out and let a sista know..... ;) All in all it was a good show!!! |

Smokey sang all the songs I really like, and I really wanted to hear Cruising, and he sang that...now if he would just get rid of that hair. I was cracking up because he still does the same dance move that he has always done. Again, I really enjoyed last nights show. |
I forgot that it came on, but I did catch the last few minutes.
I LMAO at the people in the audience. They were really FEELING Smokey. :D He's GREAT! |
I seriously don't think that was an Alpha crest on Wanya's jacket. I've noticed a lot of clothing companies (Rocawear, Ecko, etc) are using Greek inspired enblems/crests. So it could just be that the brand he was wearing has a symbol that resembles the Alpha crest.
NE was OC for those suits. Too bad Johnny's voice was cracking. Ralph is starting to look his age. Mad I missed Joss Stone but I'm sure BET will show this 80x. The chic from Floetry has a BEAUTIFUL voice. Why isn't she solo?? Gerald Levert will forever remind me of a dirty old man. |
New Edition: I need for Ricky Bell to NEVER sing lead again. NEVER EVER.
I think the woman from Floetry (the songstress) has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard in quite some time. The sista doing the speaking (floacist) was throwing off my groove. Can somebody get Gerald Levert a steady job? That brother has been on three consecutive walk of fames. Gerald: Church's Chicken is always hiring. And I never want to see you smack your own butt again. NEVER. EVER. John Legend was pretty good until he started singing out of his range. It's nice to see musicians again. Christina Milian: Uhhhhh...NO! It was so cute when the camera would pan the audience and you would see the older couples all hugged up and singing. :) |

Johnny's voice was just not good..... JG ... a little lemon juice, hot sauce, a raw egg and two altoids will get rid of that tickle in your throat ... LOL AND You are funny...... Gerald Levert was too comical for me. :) |
Overall this was really good
NE did a great job but Mike Bivens looked a little tired Gerald Levert- extra as usual:mad: but I did enjoy the Ebony Eyes performance with the girl from Floetry John Legend did a great job too Speaking of Gerald hasn't he been on all these Walk of Fame tributes?? |

John Legend was pretty good until he started singing out of his range. It's nice to see musicians again. I must admite when he started doing what he thought was singing, I was like dude, stop the yelling. It was so cute when the camera would pan the audience and you would see the older couples all hugged up and singing. :) OMG, wasn't it though. Did you see the one couple that was actually hugged up dancing? |
I thought Gerald gave a good performance.
I've never really paid any attention to Floetry besides what comes on the radio...the singer has a great voice, but is that other girl always just talking? I hope they don't split the profits 50/50. Ok, who was the dude that sang after Floetry, some new guy that kept licking his lips and screaming...I was like what in the world is going on with him?!? I actually thought Christina Millian sounded decent. She has a better voice than I thought. |

Ok, who was the dude that sang after Floetry, some new guy that kept licking his lips and screaming...I was like what in the world is going on with him?!? I can't remember who came on after Floetry, but it was either Ricky Fonte..Nia Long's man, or if he was at a piano, then it was John Legend. |

Abaici-- sorry for typing so fast:( :) |
Ricke Fonte was totally unenjoyable to me. I didn't like his tone, style, nothing. It looked like he was trying too hard to be something he isn't or something...I just didn't like him...
Is that Nia Long's baby daddy?!? |
If I'm not mistaken, that's Nia's husband. I remember reading something like that in an Ebony magazine some time ago.

I actually enjoyed Gerald Levert's performance, although it was a bit more over the top than usual. I LOVED Floetry's song and the performance with Songstess and Gerald.
I just don't get Christina Milian. She isn't the worst singer, but I don't see any great talent there. She is another Ashanti to me, but not quite as bad. My husband says she is a decent actress, but his opinion on such things can be a bit suspect at times. I enjoyed seeing Boys II Men perform again, but it wasn't the same without Mike. As usual though, Wanya did a bit too much. |
