mine is "Oklahoma" but that's all because of my mom... since birth, I've been raised on songs from it
|
The Sound of Music!!!!!!!!! There was a time in my life when I would watch it every day (I was like 5 or so then)
|
I don't think it's a movie... but Tommy is really REALLY good.
Other than that: West Side Story Chicago and of course, Grease |

Chicago is another obvious great one. ETA Speaking of Rock Operas and movies, there's Jesus Christ, Superstar -- which occurred to me because our daughter opens in it tonight at a local theatre company. Her husband is directing. |
The Sound of Music
|
I forgot Sweet Charity... funny musical.
|
West Side Story
Hairspray the Rocky Horror Picture Show |

I like the South of Music, too, but I also liked A Chorus Line and a lot of the others mentioned. Not a fan of Grease, because it's better onstage. |
Don't think Hairspray is a movie yet -- but probably will be someday. Also will probably be done by every high school theatre company sooner or later -- after the rights are released.

grease
sound of music and chicago ( 2003 version) |

The movie of The Who's Tommy came out in 1975. Aside from members of The Who, among the stars were Elton John (the Pinball Wizard), Tina Turner (the Acid Queen) and Ann-Margaret. |
My Fair Lady

Like everyone else, I can't just pick one.
First I have to go with the musicals that I have been in. The Wizard of Oz The Music Man Peter Pan The Sound of Music Lil' Abner Now I have to go with ones that I've seen and loved. Chicago (2003) Beauty and the Beast (although I think the play is better than the movie) The Lion King (have yet to see the play, next year though I will) |
