Omega Chapters

Ok, there's probably a thread about this somewhere so no one freak out....we've got lots of new people here with lots of new info so it will be OK....

How many GLO's out there have a special chapter (W/WW) or something for those who are deceaced?

Also, for everyone regardless....do you like this idea?

I tend to think I'm a Beta Kappa for life (and death), because that's where I was initiated....not that the spesific chapter is any more importaint then the group as a whole...but it just seems like a permanent thing (with the exception of Collegiate transfers)

Yup *nod*
We're one of the GLOs who adopt Omega Charge as a chapter for deceased brothers.

"A Theta Delt forever, the bond is broken never, a Theta Delt, for I, a Theta Delt"

The Omega chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta is located at the University of Akron in Ohio. Founded in 1922, it is still going strong and remains one of the few single letter chapters we have out there.

The chapter that is home to our deceased sisters is called Chapter Grand.

aephi alum 03-07-2004 08:38 AM

We don't have a special chapter designation for deceased sisters.

Our Omega chapter is at UT-Austin.

KellyO97 03-07-2004 09:31 AM

Chi Omega has designated the Omega Chapter as our chapter for the deceased.

Senusret I 03-07-2004 12:20 PM

Omega Chapter for APhiA is for deceased Brothers.

Omega Chapter for Alpha Phi Omega is at Drake University. Although nationally there is no designation for deceased Brothers, my home chapter (Mu Alpha) calls them "Celestial Brothers."

Intense1920 03-07-2004 12:57 PM

We do not have a chapter for our deceased Sorors. Our Omega Chapter is at Winston-Salem State University.

PhiPsiRuss 03-07-2004 01:17 PM

Phi Kappa Psi

Our designated entity for our deceased brothers is the Chapter Eternal.

The_Nash 03-07-2004 01:36 PM

Adtyum on High is for deceased brothers

AOIIalum 03-07-2004 02:06 PM

AOII's Omega chapter is active at Miami University in Ohio.

Knowledge1922 03-07-2004 03:13 PM

Our Omega Chapter is for deceased Sorors

DeltAlum 03-07-2004 03:26 PM

Delt uses Chapter Eternal.

breathesgelatin 03-07-2004 04:26 PM

To my knowledge, Pi Beta Phi does not have an official designation for deceased members.

tunatartare 03-07-2004 04:34 PM

The Tri- Sigma chapter here, Epsilon Upsilon, uses Omega to denote the pledge class for all deceased sisters, so they just went straight from Psi to Alpha Alpha.

valkyrie 03-07-2004 04:43 PM

Alpha Phi's Omega chapter is at the University of Texas. Deceased alumnae enter the Silent Chapter.

sigtau305 03-07-2004 05:15 PM

Our Nationals uses Chapter Eternal

AUDeltaGam 03-07-2004 05:17 PM

Delta Gamma's Omega chapter is at the University of Wisconson-Madison.

I don't know if we have a chapter for deceased members.

nhpgator 03-07-2004 06:11 PM

AOII's chapter for our members who have passed is called the Alpha Omega Chapter - my grandmother is a member!

wreckingcrew 03-07-2004 06:34 PM

We use Chapter Eternal to refer to deceased brothers.

And Sigma Nu doesn't use Omega in chapter designations.

Neither does APhiA.....Omega is used only once, just for Omega Chapter.

Hey! So is ours!

D Phi E uses chapter eternal for deceased members. Our Omega chapter is located at the University of Miami.

AZ-AlphaXi 03-08-2004 03:24 PM

Alpha Xi Delta also uses chapter eternal for deceased members. Our Omega chapter is at Stetson Univ. in Florida.

DeltaSigStan 03-08-2004 03:52 PM

Deceased members enter the Bond Eternal

Omega, Pittsburgh, just recently closed.

AlphaSigOU 03-08-2004 09:12 PM

Alpha Sigma Phi reserves Omega as the chapter designation for deceased brethren. When listing them, the chapter and year initiated is first and then the year the member entered Omega follows. For example: Louis Manigault (our principal founder) - Alpha 1845/Omega 1899.

Likewise, no Greek letter combination ending in Omega is used as well to name chapters.

My chapter was the 24th installed in Alpha Sigma Phi, however since Omega is not used we're the first double-letter chapter (Alpha Alpha).

ztabchbum 03-08-2004 09:26 PM

Our Omega Chapter is SMU and is closed.

polarpi 03-08-2004 11:24 PM

Our Omega chapter was at Louisiana State University, but it closed back in 1985.

Our Alumnae Initiates are members of the Omega Alpha chapter, so I don't think ADPi has a chapter designation for deceased sisters...I believe they're still considered members of their collegiate chapter.

edited to correctly identify our AI chapter

At our biannual convention, a special ceremony is held to commemorate sisters we have lost since the last biennium. They are recognized by their chapter of initiation.

Thanks for posting that, adpiucf! I haven't been to convention before, so obviously I knew nothing about our honoring of sisters that we've lost since the previous biennium!

*I'm hoping to rectify not being at a convention next year in Phoenix, however!

adpiucf 03-09-2004 02:03 AM

Yay :) I hope you will go in 2005! ADPi Convention is such a wonderful experience!!!

mommag2 03-12-2004 07:04 AM

GAO uses Omega as designation for deceased sisters. I don't think we even use omega for pledge classes.

SigK_Bama 03-12-2004 12:03 PM

Our Omega chapter was at FSU and it closed a couple years ago.

e.t.a. - And we don't have any certain chapter name to designate members who have passed.
