Saw the movie last night with my husband. It had it's moments BUT I didn't think it was that funny either.
However, I did see the previews for Eddie's Dr Doolittle 2 and for a movie with Martin and Danny Devito...they looked pretty good. |

The funniest moments of Kingdom Come involved Loretta Devine. My friend and I both thought that Whoopi seemed out of place as mom for this movie. |
The movie didn't really center AROUND Whoopi...it centered around those OTHER family members who had issues, resolving or coming to terms with those issues.
I really didn't know what to expect from the movie, so I wasn't disappointed. Loretta, Darius, "Junior" (don't know his real name), and Jada were extremely funny...you didn't think Ceddie was funny? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif I thought they were. |

It might also be that I was just in kind of a funky mood and should've followed my first mind and went to the movies alone. |
Ok, I just came back from viewing the movie. I thought it was ok, but I do have some questions. Why did they have to give my sexy lips man LL a name like "Ray Bud", I was cracking up at just that alone.
The other thing that had me rolling on the floor were the "ballet slippers", even typing this now, I am cracking up. My other thing was Ceddy Ced with his lisp, and the scene in the church, y'all know what scene I'm talking about. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif But over all, it was cool. ------------------ Peace KL [This message has been edited by kiml122 (edited April 14, 2001).] |
I enjoyed the movie, the plot got a bit deep though and ended quickly. That's my only complaint. It was really funny! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I thought it was alright. It had its moments.
I have to agree with CrimsonTide, Whoopi really didn't seem like a country mom who lost her 'mean and surly' husband. Jada was too much for me, with her powdered neck...LOL And another question: Remember when Jada's character was singing in the church, and they did a shot of the congregation singing? Why did Toni look like she didn't know the words to the song? PrettyPetite |

Do the $1 movies till exist? I don't think we have too many around here. But our paper gave the movie 3.5 stars. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif Again, I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder... I can wait to skee it again on HBO, video or sumthin' http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |

You'll are Wild - lol
I wish I had saved my money. I vowed to support black films this year but I think this one left much to be desired!!!! I'm very disappointed in the movie. I wish Jada and the other Brothers and Sisters could get GOOD roles. In fact, I think for some of the actors it is a slap in the face to have to play bit parts. However, I do realize that one has to make a living. Quote:

LOL, if ever in Columbus, we have a $1 theater and on Tuesdays it is FIFTY CENTS http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif So tomorrow I am going to get my TRIPLE FEATURE ON!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
I almost went to see it again but thankfully my mom and I watched Love and B-ball together. |
I saw the movie this weekend and thought it was pretty funny. Some scenes were dragged out, but thanks to Rev. Beverly Hooker and things like Lola African Methodist Church, the humor was there. The movie was based on a play, and as I sat there I felt like that's what I was watching, instead of a movie.
