Rush at Pitt

I started this thread in hopes that someone will bite and give us a Rush Thread!

I stopped in at the ADPi chapter last night, where they were "busy lots to do" prior to Recruitment starting on Thursday. fire1977 seemed to be doing the same with DPhiE!

So far, while about 300 women stopped in at the Informational Meeting (I forget what it's called - "Meet the Greeks"?), only 95 have officially signed up!! With 11 sororities competing for those women, we're looking at a seriously low quota - unless something changes fast!!!!

Any other news?

KillarneyRose 09-15-2003 08:03 PM

Gads! I would love to see a Pitt rush thread on here! 95 girls??? That's insane :(

kddani 09-15-2003 08:11 PM

i'm hoping more sign up! pitt people tend to do things last minute....

they had something in the quad today, it was pretty pathetic from what my roommate (who's still an active collegiate KD) told me.

a pitt rush thread would be SO interesting to read!

I was SO tempted to quickly make some signs & put them up around campus!!

It's a shame that there's not a sympathetic ear at the Pitt News who could have someone go through rush "undercover", so to speak. But sympathetic to Greeks & Pitt News rarely go in the same sentence... *sigh*

Does anyone know of any legacies who would be willing to post? The ones I've talked to won't.

MoxieGrrl 09-15-2003 10:12 PM

Was there a "Meet the Greeks" thing on Sunday? I drove past some grassy place (don't know what it's called.....it's on Forbes, down from the museum)......anyways, there were a TON of girls wearing letters. (I swear I saw every set of sorority letters except KD. Then I saw a giant horde of them. :)) There were a few guys wearing letters too, and I can't help but wonder what genius planned a recruitment event on the day of a Steelers game.

Ok girls...you convinced me....I'm going through Pitt's rush undercover. Forget the honeymoon. We need a good story on here. LOL

fire1977 09-15-2003 11:14 PM

I don't think there was anything Sunday since we were still in "workweekend" until 7pm.

So yes Honeychile- we were hard at work, I was so tired by the time you stopped I could barely form sentences. It was fun though and they are going to do so well again this fall!!

We have a legacy but.....she's not a direct legacy to our chapter so I don't know anyone who could write. Oh well, maybe next year!

I agree with Dani though, they always seem to come through at the last minute!!!

Can't wait til Thursday night!!!

I talked to the Panhel pres today she said they are about 50 behind usual. Don't know how that stacks up against past years. More sororities are making good use of snap bids and COB so maybe that will finally come into a greater effect this year.

Sunday was the Greek week kick off all those girls and guys were playing volleyball and the like. Greeks were also running around south O trying to finish a scavenger hunt. (I was in that group)

It was fun as always. I can report about the craziness at the next Pitt Greek chat gathering.

SmartBlondeGPhB 09-15-2003 11:47 PM

What groups are there?

(yes, I'm being lazy........)

kddani 09-15-2003 11:49 PM

DZ, DPhiE, XO, AEPhi, Tri Sigma, KD, SDT, Tri Delta, ADPi, TPA, and KKG

fire1977 09-15-2003 11:51 PM

delta zeta
delta phi epsilon
chi omega
alpha epsilon phi
sigma sigma sigma
kappa delta
sigma delta tau
delta delta delta
alpha delta pi
theta phi alpha
kappa kappa gamma

ETA: kddani and I must have posted at the same time!

lol - notice that they are all in order according to where they live...

SmartBlondeGPhB 09-15-2003 11:51 PM

I knew someone would know so I wouldn't have to go look.......

I just knew we weren't there.

You and your typos. ;)

I'm sure all the Pitt alums will keep us updated!

honeychile 09-16-2003 08:30 AM

Just in case you're wondering...

For the outsider, wondering how both lists were in the same order, but not alphabetical: all but two of the sororities at Pitt are in Amos Hall (by floor)

2 - Delta Zeta
3 - Delta Phi Epsilon
4 - Chi Omega
5 - Alpha Epsilon Phi
6 - Sigma Sigma Sigma
7 - Kappa Delta
8 - Sigma Delta Tau
9 - Delta Delta Delta
10 - Alpha Delta Pi

Then, Theta Phi Alpha is in McCormick Hall, and Kappa Kappa Gamma's house was grandfathered in.

Maybe a Rho Chi could talk someone into posting?

How noble!! We knew we could depend on you! ;)

(now go have a beautiful wedding, a lovely honeymoon, and a peaceful "rest of your lives together"!)

Actually, you would have wasted your time looking because Pitt has the poopiest greek website you could imagine. I don't even know if the sororities are listed!

TPARose 09-16-2003 11:22 PM

Panhel actually has its own page, but it too has not been updated in some time:

www.pitt.edu/~panhel

Add one "L" to the end, and voila! The NPHC website.

And THAT would have seriously irritated me.............:p

fire1977 09-18-2003 12:14 PM

Counting down the hours....I really shouldn't be at work I just get so excited (and distracted) for recruitment - more than I did when I was an active!

In other news - they switched to computer matching- boo! I LOVE hand bid matching!!!

Good luck to everyone's chapter!!!!

honeychile 09-18-2003 12:32 PM

Yes, Good Luck to everyone!

BOO to computer matching!! BOO!!!

Anyone hear how many finally ended up signing up?

I SO agree! My chapter used it for the first time this year, and I'm not sure it was that much quicker than hand matching! This one matched several girls to their third and fourth choices. I don't remember having to go to those choices but on maybe one or two girls with hand matching. Who knows! Computer rush does have it's pro's though, in other areas!

Question

How do you get set up with a collection agency? We don't have problems with members paying dues but just curious for future knowledge.

We recently did a fundraiser with campus fundraiser that was pretty successful. We have liability insurance and need to raise a lot of funds before the end of the year since we are a small group.

honeychile 09-20-2003 08:21 AM

ACK!!

Tomorrow will be my first day to volunteer - what are the numbers like? Did more sign up? Has quota been set yet?
