Rush at Clemson

Hey Guys! I will be attending Clemson in the fall and CAN NOT wait to go through rush! I know that there are 9 sororities rushing on campus this year, and I was wondering if someone could please tell me a little more about each one...like who are the sporty ones, preppy ones, ect. I would just like to know a little more info before I go through...and I'm so excited!
Thanks!

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-21-2003 03:12 AM

I believe there is a slide show on the clemson greek webpage. Its very well put together. That should give you some more information about their symbols, colors, and I believe it has quotes from sisters :) You'll love Clemson! All of the football games are so much fun! I went to Furman just down the road.

southerngirly 05-21-2003 11:29 AM

Browneyedgirl.
thanks so much for the info! what a help...I did see the panhellenic page and the slide shows...they just get me sooo excited! I was actually looking for more of a student's perspective beccause the slide shows can only tell you so much! I am going to give all sororities a 100% fair chance each, but I was just looking for a little heads up on what each one was like. :D I hope I have as much fun there as you did!

Wow BrownEyedGirl that was a excellent run-down. You are most wise!

axotiger 05-22-2003 08:28 AM

yes BrownEyedGirl... VERY good rundown [and unbiased]. Congrats on graduation... my brother just graduated too!! Good luck after college... what are your plans?

MoxieGrrl 05-22-2003 08:53 AM

What an outstanding group of sororities!!

Lil' Hannah 05-22-2003 09:42 AM

What happened to DG? I remember EO was coming in to do something...did that chapter fold?

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-22-2003 10:13 AM

No my dear Lil' Hannah :) Epsilon Kappa is still at Clemson and no campus could ask for a better group of women! :) I wish them the best of luck this year! Go get'em Tigers!

I just happened to see this thread and as a Pi Chi for fall rush at Clemson I couldn't help but just drop a line to the conversation. Thanks so much girls for being "Panhellenic." I know it can be difficult wanting to chat up your own chapter and I think it's awesome you girls can speak so highly of all the chapters on campus. It makes me so proud to be part of Greek Life at Clemson with such wonderful girls!:)

southerngirly -- Clemson's Greek system is very unique in that there is no chapter that is just athletes or full of Vanderbilt relatives, etc. Each chapter boasts their own diverese sense of sisterhood and the girls really pride themselves on that idea. You will probably hear "tent talk" on campus and before school and I can not stress how important it is to disregard this information. Everyones impression of a chapter is different and not always accurate so it's best just to wait and see how you feel about each sorority yourself. If you have any questions or anything at all that I can help you with in the recruitment process please let me know. I know you'll have an amazing time during the recruitment process meeting the Greek women here at Clemson.

I have two friends that are Tri Delts at Clemson and they are teh coolest girls I have ever met. I visited them and stayed on the tri delt floor and the sisters were super sweet and down to earth.

Also, Sigma Nu at Clemson has a freaking house on the lake. How cool is that.

JohnsDGsweethrt 06-18-2003 10:42 AM

I have been to the Sigma Nu house there. It is quite nice!

IheartAphi 06-18-2003 06:56 PM

Yeah we took a shuttle that night. We don't have anything like that in NC. All the frats rent out vans for the evening to shuttle people to and from campus for their parties.

Hey BrownEyedGirl and CUSouthernBelle! I was in Clemson a couple of weeks ago and saw that they are doing renovations on the fraternity dorms. Are they making them more like houses or just renovating and keeping the same layout?

I had not been up there in several years and the campus seems sooooo weird without Johnstone! Much nicer, but still weird. I felt a bit of nostalgia for the ole Tin Cans. :)

IheartAphi 06-19-2003 04:45 AM

Aren't sophomore frat memebers assigned to the dorms? My friend has always said how gross the frat dorms were. I really hope they are re-doing them. I knwo the "lake house" sleeps like 19 brothers.

CUSouthernBelle 06-20-2003 03:40 AM

From my understanding "the quad" is under a full-blown renovation. The quad is expected to be closed for two years while housing has provided off-campus apartments as a substitute for fraternity housing. It's going to be very strange during football season without all the action on that side of campus -- no place to sit and rest on the walk back to the east side of campus! :(

Mainly sophomore members live in the fraternity dorms, but that varies from chapter to chapter. Some of the larger fraternities occupy three floors of one building and either strongly encourage older brothers to live on the hall or they must allow independants to fill up the empty rooms.

Greeks are a little nervous about the atmosphere (or lack of) that this will cause in the fall without the strong presence of the fraternities on campus but honestly those poor boys deserve better living conditions! I have to say that I think this might help revatilize some of the fraternities because this will be one of the nicest/newest places for guys to live on campus.

axotiger 06-20-2003 07:29 AM

Oh, I agree... that is going to be weird for football. I can honestly say that every saturday was spent at either a fraternity house... or on the quad [usually the quad]. But I hear they are all going to get tents and set up on the grassy-knoll [i heard that phrase somewhere.. lol] where Johnstone used to be. Which is cool... they'll all be there.

But that reminds me so much of their rush last year... in tents out on bowman... ya know what I'm saying?

*hopeful bump*

CUSouthernBelle 08-27-2003 12:47 PM

Just thought I would give ya'll a little update on Clemson Recruitment -- Quota this year was 54. Everyone did an amazing job and is happy with their new girls! In my rush group alone, my girls went to six of the nine chapters on campus. Overall, recruitment was awesome and many girls were placed happily as a result. :)

aabby757 08-27-2003 03:00 PM

which groups made quota?

Echoing the sentiment!

If you're uncomfortable posting this information, would you please post a website that would have it? Thank you!!

ZTAngel 08-27-2003 03:28 PM

ZTA made quota!!!! :D

CUSouthernBelle 08-27-2003 05:54 PM

I'm not really sure if I am at liberty to say or not especially since I was a Pi Chi. Most made quota and those who didn't were close so everyone should be very pround! But I can tell you that my chapter, Alpha Chi did make quota!

I don't see why you can't say anything...is there a website where the info is posted?

AXO_MOM_3 08-27-2003 09:09 PM

Yay for Alpha Chi!
