New season of Sorority Life scoop (UNCONFIRMED)
I read on another message board who the fraternity and sorority are that were chosen for the new season. They are both (currently) local.
The sorority is Delta Xi Omega, they have been around since 1988. The fraternity is Sigma Chi Omega, they have been around since 1999. According to their website, they were formed with the goal of becoming a Sigma Chi chapter but Sigma Chi decided not to expand to UB at this time. Some cute guys, just a little too clean cut for me. ;) (wow my website link worked...I'm excited! :D) |
Hey there
what board was that on?? What other board is there besides greekchat:) |
What school are they at?
|
It says on their websit that they are participating in Fraternity Life. Just wanted to let you know!
|
There is also a multicultural fraternity that is named Sigma Chi Omega. I wonder how that fraternity is going to feel when they see their name all over MTV. I hope that they don't give the other fraternity a bad name.
|
Hopefully the sorority's being 14 years old will mean that it has some RM procedures in place (to say the least of what other things Sigma seems to be lacking).
Furthermore, I hope that every single one of these girls sits down and watches this season so that they can understand (1) exactly what they've gotten themselves into, and (2) which mistakes they need to learn from. |
it was on televisionwithoutpity.com
they are at uni of buffalo the guys are confirmed but the gals aren't (their website link is broken) anymore questions? :) |
that looks like an old site
|
taste of their own meds...
I would love for a group to get picked for this show and totally play MTV...i.e, get people to go out for rush who put across the "MTV facade" of hypersexuality and drama queenism (is that a word?) to MTV...get picked by the producers...and then go on the show and just study, do intramurals, philanthropy...in short, create zero drama.
I know that's what my chapter would do. :p spewiggs, thanks for the confirm. |
Hi there
actually my brother goes to UB and is in a fraternity(he asked me to not reveal which one) and while I am not sure about the fraternity doing the show, he said he can be quite sure that MTV has no say in the sorority pledges. Maybe MTV learned its lesson from the last season whith sorority life, and the more dramitized will be the fraternity life. But I really don't know, sorry. And who knows if hes telling the truth, he says he is but you never know...... |
hey spewiggs
in your opinion what are both groups like? Are they nice, dorks, cool, etc. My brother said they are both cool, but he doesnt know the fraternity too well. Give your two cents:) Thanks and good luck to Sigma Phi epsilon in rush |
Kind of interesting that MTV wants pledges over the age of 21. I guess they want to ensure the drama factor, even if they do not pick the pledges. Plus, it struck me as kind of odd that the pledges were that old in the current Sorority Life. It just isn't typical (from what I've seen) to see a house that has so many non-freshman pledges.

I agree though, even in our freshmen-can't-pledge semesters, we NEVER had a pledge class where everyone was 21. If they were smart, they would show true "sorority life" and just focus on 6 over 21 sisters, leave the pledges out of it. |
have MTV set the date for the show fraternity life?
|
random observation: the sorority gives nms "pledge names"...
i need to get cable  |
All the GLO's I know give pledge names, maybe it's a NorthEast type of thing.
Hey that's a good question, do southern schools give "pledge names??" |
33girl: Are the fraternity & sorority set for the new season? I read on a SHSU sorority website (I believe it was www.siglamb.com or .net) that they were being interviewed for the new Sorority Life. Could be completely random...who knows?
Side note: I'm not from a southern chapter, but I did have a pledge name. It was chipmunk, because I sound like one when I laugh. :) |
As someone who spent 3 years in the greek life system at a SUNY, I'm most anxious to see how it is portrayed.
Regarding pledges that are 21, it does happen, at least it does in the environment I came from where freshman weren't allowed to pledge. We had quite a few transfer students who would plege in their junior year. I was only 19 at the time, but I pleged as a second semester sophmore. A lot of the girls who pledged my chapter during my college years were between 19-21. I'm really sad to see the end of this chapter of Sorority Life end, but at the same time it'll be really cool to see a piece of my own college system! |
re: pledge names
We didn't have pledge names, but rather sister names that were revealed the night we became sisters. Some were obvious, some had stories....and for some the reasons are secretive (ie. they relate to some secret parts of our sisterhood) My sister name is Plum (which is why my screen name is sisterplum!)....I got it cause when I was a pledge my then-very-new sorority didn't have a ball. The Alpha Gamma Delta chapter at our school invited our sisters and pledges to their ball and I went.....I wore my prom dress, which was purple. My sisters thought I had planned it (I didn't) but my prom dress and my cell phone were the exact same shade of purple!!!! Hee hee! I'm the biggest purple fanatic around...and thus the sister name of Plum!:) Can't wait to see the new season of Sorority Life (and Fraternity Life too!:D) |
hey all
The site that they have up now is alumni... I tried to find an active one but I cant, but I did run across and actives personal web page with a pic of "DZO actives" this does not seem like all of them but a few. Wow they seem pretty.
