Ladies...backless bras?

I have a dress with no back, but I need to support myself somehow. Does anyone have any backless bras that they have tried and really liked?

Peaches-n-Cream 04-23-2002 01:37 AM

I have never heard of a backless bra. I have heard of bras that hook around your waist instead of the usual place. I don't know where you can get them though. :(

DeltaZeecutie 04-23-2002 01:42 AM

I heard Victoria Secret has really good backless bras. I just haven't tried them yet.

I've tried the backless bra and LOVE it!!! :D
They have adhesive strips that come with it and it sticks to your sides. I know ya'll must be cringing at the thought of ripping it off-but in all honesty, it doesn't hurt me. And my roomies have used them too. The bra comes with only 3 pairs of adhesive strips so that kinda sucks, but they're not that expensive. The bra was around $30 bucks and I think it was totally worth it!

it also depends on your cup size. i wouldn't recommend the adhesive strips if you are on the larger end of the alphabet; instead, go with the "convertible" bra from Victoria's Secret. it can be manipulated into several different forms, suitable for about any attire (backless, strapless, one shoulder, etc).

This might sound crazy...but good ole ducktape works wonders! It supports you and gives you lift...plus, if you wet the strips before you put it on, it eases the adhesive and it won't hurt when you take it off.

PM me if you need "application instructions." ;)

That advice is straight out of hollywood (you know they use lot of tape on film and modelig shoots)

The principle is the same as with the adhesive bras mentioned above. I like them but I also would onlly usgeest if you were in the B or smaller cup size. I prefer them to the backless bras but they work as well.

Hootie 04-23-2002 01:16 PM

I used to help out with the local Miss America Organization pagaent and knew of MANY women who used duct tape. I don't know exactly how to apply it, as I didn't think it was necessary for me to help in THAT sort of way.
I'd try the ladies at Victoria's Secret...that's what they're there for. Otherwise, I had a backless dress in high school and found one of those waist bras at Dillards...or maybe it was Yonkers. It was weird, but it worked!
Good luck and let us know what you find!

Duct tape! Ouch! My friend was in a local Miss America pagaent and they spent a lot of time on duct tape. I had never heard of using duct tape before she told me. My friend had the exact opposite problem. She didn't need to enhance her bust, but minimize it.
Good luck finding the right bra!

ZTAngel 04-23-2002 03:15 PM

I have one. I don't know who makes it though...all I know is that I bought it at Bloomingdale's. I really like it. I feel really naked if I don't wear a bra and I have this backless halter that I love wearing to clubs. The backless bras are great because they have underwire to lift you up and a shaped cup. I use to be afraid that they would fall off but those adhesives are some strong little suckers! :) No matter how much you sweat, they will stay on. The only problem is the end of the night peel-off. It hurts a little bit...especially if you're pain sensitive. But, the investment is worth it.

DeltaBetaBaby 04-23-2002 05:15 PM

I am above the B-cup range. I have tried duct tape in the past, but it always leave the, er, 'girls' looking lumpy, and the duct tape kinda crinkles. Am I doing it wrong?

I know Vicki's sells the adhesive bras in C and D cups, so do they work, or am I being duped? Also, can you buy replacement adhesives?

aephi alum 04-23-2002 06:52 PM

Duct tape??? OW!!

The backless/convertible bra is probably the best thing to do.

Oh my gosh! What a funny thought! I could just imagine getting in a wreck and they remove my dress to examine me in the ambulance and see all that gray tape! Or even worse...seeing the look on my guy's face as I get undressed later that evening!

SSS1365 04-23-2002 08:44 PM

The whole duct tape thing reminded me of this hilarious picture that's been going around the internet, of a girl at a formal whose duct tape is showing! I'll have to post that on here later when I get the chance! Personally I would save myself the possible embarrassment and go with a bra!

James 04-23-2002 09:33 PM

Actually, that would be kind of funny. Boy meets girl, takes her home and . . .

Back at his/her place they start removing clothing (for an innocent game of twister :p).

The first thing she does is kick off her shoes, promptly losing 5 inches of height and that sexy lift that heels give a lady. Then she takes out her glorious blue eyes (color contacts). Then she removes something from her bra that was giving her an extra cup size or two . . . then comes off the duct tape that was defying gravity and "up and center" becomes "hanging to the sides".

Oh, and let not forget her face melting off (make-up smearing, eye shadow running) and oops that small adorable mole comes off as you kiss her! Hair piece is detacheable . . . Its like a scene from "I'm going to get you sucka".

Acckkkkpppppttttttt!

Is there such a thing as false advertising?? Isn't that fraud? ;)

Actually I do think guys might think push-up bras, wonder bras etc are false advertising. Guy sees girl, is attracted to her bust (as well as other things physical and personality). Things get intimate and his busty lady friend goes from a large C to an A.

But I think the whole point is using the tape in lieu of bra :D

That's why I vote for ductape...It's all yours, the "girls" are just being held up, as opposed to wonder bras where it's mostly padding. ;)

KillarneyRose 04-23-2002 11:19 PM

I don't know if the price of the dress would justify the cost of doing this but you could take the dress to a seamstress who can sew cups into the dress. I am on the "endowed" side and that's what I do whenever I buy a strapless, backless or spaghetti strap dress. Even if it is a thin material, the seamstress can put the cups on a piece of stretchy fabric and sew them to the back seam of the dress.

Peaches-n-Cream 04-24-2002 01:54 PM

I've seen that! Too funny! :D

I've seen that picture too...of course, that girl didn't do it correctly, that's why it showed. ;)

*Thinking back to the Biographgy episode about Hugh Hepfner and remebering one of his BIG busted playmate girlfriends in a backless shirt*

OHHHH, so that's how she was holding them things up!

I gotta say I didnt even know backless bras existed, but now that I do I'm gonna have to invest in one.

Sisterplum 04-24-2002 11:27 PM

I have a backless bra...I wore it on my wedding day! I got it at LaSenza (Canada's version of Victoria's Secret). What it is (for those who don't know) is just the cups....with underwire) that you tape to your body! I'm not sure what Victoria's Secret has, but I know LaSenza had two kinds of backless bras.....one was just adhesive tape that you taped to your body (I don't know HOW that would keep my girls up!) and the other was the one I got, the cups with underwire that you tape to your body!:)

I think it works amazingly and don't worry about your cup size! My "girls" are...how shall I say this?......well endowed (I'm a D cup) and they held me up all day on my wedding! I wasn't too sure about it to begin with so I did a test. I wore the backless bra one night when I went downtown clubbing with my girls. I figured if it held my girls up while dancing and sweating all night, then it was good enough for my wedding!:D:D

I also used it on my honeymoon (I have a backless gown that I wore on formal night of the cruise!) It's a little painful to get the bra off (but I didn't notice with all the champagne I was drinking...lol!) and the only other downside was that there was some glue residue on my chest area (which washed off in the shower...no probs!:D)

All in all, the bra rocks! I have since bought some backless shirts and can wear them out in public without feeling like I'm sagging (which used to be a HUGE problem for me and my big boobies!:D:D) Give it a try, it's great!:D

Peaches-n-Cream 05-01-2002 01:09 AM

I've seen two pictures. One with the duct tape showing, and the other has a sorority sister with her girl showing. ;)

LeslieAGD 05-01-2002 08:21 AM

I think he's talking about the website...that chick was a moron! Who would tape across their chest like that?!? Talk about pain when you try to rip that off your nips!

The1calledTKE 05-01-2002 09:09 AM

Here is the website of all the priceless pics, greek and not greek...

beware some of them are very graphic!

LexiKD 05-01-2002 01:18 PM

I have never used Duct tape but Altheltic tape, not paper tape, works well and doesn't hurt to take off. But practice before the big night b/c it isn't that easy to do by yourself and look even.

Not enough support. If you just don't want your nipples to show through just put band-aids over them. That will keep you from showing them to the world. Thats a little pageant advice. If you do get a backless bra make sure it is stuck on really good. You don't want to lose one of those bad boys! ;)

Nah, but I had to look at all of them. I never knew that there were so many words for a woman's anatomy.:p ;)

justhey76 05-05-2002 08:40 PM

oh my gosh!!

Hey, I noticed that some of y'all offered to PM guidelines of how to apply the duct tape concept. I wear 32 DD and as it is, it is impossible for me to find supportive bra, let ALONE a strapless or backless one. PLEASE PLEASE PM me for instructions on how to do the tape thing. i tried it once, but needless to say, it was a TOTAL disaster.

UDZETA 05-06-2002 12:25 PM

justhey76 , I pm you on some taping help! I hope it works for you. :)

justhey76 05-06-2002 12:49 PM

thank you!! ill check it!!!
