Thank You MysticCat! :D Now leaving GreekChat for CBS.com.....

Cheerio 08-20-2012 06:32 PM

Does anyone else remember Lisa as a Mouseketeer? Usually wearing a green hat (under her mouse ears)?

Per usual there are pro sports player (players can legitimately vote-out someone named Jeff!) and former Miss USA contestant (Katie, from the under-placing state of Delaware).

Still looking at contestant videos....

I get it - this year's theme is "Redemption from Premature Evacuation". Former Castaways who had to leave the show due to medical reasons are now permitted a 2nd kick at the can (yeah, this is Jonathon's 3rd time at it)

I had to google who Russell Swan was. The show would be better if they had "Miss Swan" on it instead. :p :D

SRSLY. If I was (hypothetically) on Survivor, I'd be wearing gear what you might use for hiking or trail running - trail shoes, dry-fit gear, wool socks, that kind of thing + bathing suit. Some people have no sense for the outdoors, I tell you.

I can pretty much guarantee you that the producers have her dressed that way. Every season the producers have at least one person go out onto the island in business attire. (Matt went in French cuffs last season.) Sometimes, the outfits are even color-coordinated among contestants.

You don't notice it until they're together on the mats, but yes, they are all usually wearing their tribe color in some way.

Just speculation, but with this show/game it's fun (and I promise I have not read any spoiler boards):

CBS wants Jonathan to win  so he'll be with the youngest tribe (Matsing) and work with the youngest woman (age 20) Angie from Utah, the Mormon state whose contestants consistently make top four. Coach returned and almost won with the young (22) Sophie; Rob Mariano returned and nearly won with a young-ish Amber (25) then Rob won with the young (19) Natalie Tennerelli.

Russell by elimination goes with Kalabaw tribe (only tribe without listed African-American member). Leaving Skupin with Tandang and Bible-Buddy Lisa.

Agree on CBS-dictated clothing/color schemes; never noticed until Samoa when contestants clothing so wonderfully color-coordinated it drew-out beauty of their surroundings . In Samoa Natalie (winner) wore her yellow dress everywhere; each successive season had a yellow-outfitted woman. Photos this season show yellow on a man (Artis) :).

When I searched for a list of contestants, I found this link which lists the tribes in full. So if you want it to be a surprise, don't visit this link: http://www.cinemablend.com/televisio...nts-45941.html

The second link in my post at the top of the thread also shows the tribes. ;)

Bumping for Wednesday's show...

AGDee 09-19-2012 09:25 PM

People kept calling me on the phone so I missed everything up until Tribal Council. Ugh. I did notice some color coordination at TC though.

SWTXBelle 09-19-2012 09:37 PM

Zane was just a special kind of stupid.

We wouldn't know about the other tribes, though, since the one tribe keeps eclipsing the entire program with TEH DUMBZ.

Can anyone off the top of their head even name a member of the other teams other than Penner, Skupin, Lisa, and the baseball dude?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes!

So Tribe Dumbz - were they smart to get rid of the two dumbest players, or should they have capitalized on the lack of strategery exhibited by the two now-gone brainless wonders?

Oh, and what's up with Russell? I don't remember him being this annoying.
"I'm not the leader!"
"Now do this!"

I think it's fitting that he's the non-Leader Leader of Tribe Dumbz.

Finally watched online...

I'm picking Cookie Girl for third place.

And if I'm recalling correctly  it's deja-vu for Russ Swan being boss of a poorly performing team. Even though now Russ tells the camera he doesn't think he acts like the boss.

Do you mean that Cookie Girl will be the third person voted out of her tribe or that she'll finish the show in third place?

If it's the latter, who do you see winning first and second?

On another note, the previews (last night during Amazing Race) make it look like Lisa has a chance of not being the first person voted out of her tribe. I felt like they were really setting us up for a Lisa exit this past episode, so I was surprised (pleasantly, although I do like Mike) with this week's teaser.

Third-place overall for Cookie Monster.

(<<< here she is waiting for a cookie ;))

Haven't picked first and second for positives, but pre-show reading of their online bios made me like RC. Abi seems (on tv) like a good player.

And I'll throw it our there: With Jeff P. hosting a new talk show, perhaps CBS is grooming Jonathan Penner for host of Survivor?

AlphaFrog 10-03-2012 07:38 AM

Would people watch Survivor without Jeff?

I remember Mark Burnett making a statement about Jeff being the perfect host for Survivor because he really elevated the rituals which could easily have been hokey without the seriousness that Jeff gives them.

Some friends and I do predictions after the first episode, and I have her coming in second. (I have Malcolm winning, so boy did they scare me this last episode.)

Somehow I don't think RC will make it as far as she thinks she will. I get the impression that she could really rub people the wrong way.

AlphaFrog 10-03-2012 08:37 PM

Goon squad...truth.

SydneyK 10-04-2012 01:19 PM

What a lopsided show so far. Three tribal councils, two untouched tribes. I wonder if the producers saw this coming at all.

I like Denise. I'm reluctant to say that because every time I say I like a particular player, that's usually when that player gets voted off.

I was  at Cookie Girl for saying to Malcom and Denise, "I didn't say 'I can't do it [go back in the water]'." Um... that's exactly what you said. This tribe is just unbelievable. I think they got stronger when Angie left.

AlphaFrog 10-04-2012 01:35 PM

I still can't name a single player on any other tribe except Lisa, Jeff, Penner, & Skupin.

This three team format sucks. Couldn't they have brought back four injured (James!) and put two on each team?

It's the risk of three tribes. Three tribal councils means 1/2 the team is gone instead of 2/3. They'll have to move into two teams soon. Not a fan of the three or four tribe format.

But boy, what a choice Malcolm and Denise had. Russell's no better than Angie, and his diatribe at TC was embarrassing. To lay into Angie when he couldn't climb the ladder and when he quit too made him look juvenile. He has struggled in just about every challenge, and then he lashes out at everyone else for losing. I really could see good reasons for Malcolm and Denise to go either way with this one.

And Hey! Carter can talk! Who knew?

AlphaFrog 10-10-2012 08:58 PM

I can't even concentrate on the episode because the one team is so pathetic. Please, just get rid of them so I can actually see someone else.

SydneyK 10-14-2012 06:22 PM

Finally watched last week's episode...

I'm not sorry at all to see Russell gone. I feel bad for Malcom and Denise for being a tribe of 2, but I won't miss Russ.

I lol'd at Pete setting up RC like he did. Ha! (And Abi really confirmed for me how much I dislike her.)

I really wonder what the producers plan to do with the tribe of 2. (Although, based on the previews, there may be a red tribe member going home due to injury/illness, so maybe they won't have to do anything about Matsing yet.)

NutBrnHair 10-14-2012 10:17 PM

Maybe they will divide the tribe of 2 and put one each on the other 2 tribes?

I was thinking a whole tribe switch up perhaps, and getting them down to 2 tribes that way. Otherwise, those 2 would just be the targets on their new tribes and that is kind of pointless.

Well, you called it. I was hoping they'd do more of a full tribal switcheroo, though. At least Malcolm and Denise are still around. I'm happy with the way the vote went last night.

(Who else thought Dawson was going to punch Jeff? The look she had as he snuffed her torch was maniacal! I think Jeff looked scared, too!)

MysticCat 10-19-2012 02:06 PM

FWIW, apparently Malcolm is a Theta Delta Chi who played football at Dartmouth. I read that among the things he did to prepare were to read The Art of War and The Prince. He also lost 20 pounds and focused on exercises that would improve balance and flexibility.
