Getting a couple of things straight....
 

Yesterday I posted a thread entitled African American or Multicultural Non collegiate sorority. With my thread I stated that I was a 26 year old, African American female seeking anybody that had information on any non collegiate sororities that aren't lesbian based and had members that were younger than 50 years of age. I stated that due to my financial situation when I attended a four year institution I was unable to join the sorority of my choice. What I did not state was that I never received my bachelors degree, but at the current moment I am in pursuit of it BUT at a 2 year college. I had enough credits to receive my associates when I entered into the 2 year college and because of my business I am unable to attend a four year institute full time. I understand that after I receive my Bachelors I can join a graduate chapter which I would love to do but I also know that if I join a non collegiate sorority I can join a college based sorority as well. I did research (google, bing, yahoo search, etc.) And all the results came back the same when I would research non collegiate sororities. Either they where for women 50+ or lesbian based. That is NOT what I am interested in. I may have seemed a bit on edge yesterday when I got my first reply but I didn't mean any harm to anybody. I was being judged just off the fact that somebody said they would have praised me but I stated that I skipped out on my opportunity to join a sorority. Once again, my reason for not joining a sorority was due to finances. I am more mature, focused and I am very well financially fit. I feel as though I am ready. I was told by several people, that know nothing about me and have never laid eyes on me a day in there lives, that I was not ready to be greek. My user name, DeltaAngel4life, does not mean I am apart of Delta Sigma Theta or any other greek organization. When I was in high school (ages ago,lol) I was apart of a high school sorority and our step master was a delta. I'm going to sum this all up again and hope this time I get a more positive response to what I am asking.

I have done most of my research on search engines such as Google
I am not interested in joining a sorority that is 50+
I am not interested in joining a lesbian sorority
If anybody needs any more information or even if you have an answer for me please feel free to let me know. I am not a rude and nasty person, I just don't tolerate ignorance. Yesterday I had a horrible experience on this forum that I do not wish to speak about. I am open to all advice and suggestions. Thanks in advance

This is another reason why we shouldn't really help people with certain GLO questions. The few who are actually grateful would've found the answer without Greekchat. :)

Seems like ignorance just seems to follow me on this thread.... That's why I posted the new thread, to hopefully get insight elsewhere. I never bothered to go back to yesterdays thread because I don't have time for the negative responses. I never read the information sigmadiva gave me. But I want to thank you all for letting me know that she did give me some information and I will check it out. Please no more negative responses, I don't know you all and you all don't know me therefore your ignorance will result to nothing at the end of the day because I'm sure none of you will actually come to NJ to confront me on the situation. I bet I'd come to New Jersey before you'd ever come to Idaho. Last week I was dealing with black bears and killing my own food, I am really not scared of someone with horrific grammar and syntax e-thugging on GC.

No lie, the outhouse in Alaska that was already built and has been standing for about 20 or so years had graffiti about people from New Jersey coming to kill us. The Sharpie was pretty faded, but dear lord it cracked me up almost as much as the poetry about the dysentery summer in the 1990s.

I applaud the OP on realizing the error of her ways.

I do want to caution you on assuming you can join a Greek-lettered org now and then another one later. Even if the rules allow it because of the nature of the organization (I'm assuming you've already done this research), you still have to answer questions from women who may question your commitment.

It almost sounds like you want to use this non-collegiate org as a Starter-Sorority. Is that a fair assessment?

I swear I only have altercations with wildlife when I have to pee. Granted it is because some loud ass animal makes noise and wakes me up, and then when I pop out of my tent it is all Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom out there. Maybe I should get a "go girl" and empty bottles of Gatorade to keep in my tent to prevent nature/nature calls encounters in the future.

I was so :( and :mad: when I said there were Bears, NO ONE thought of large hairy men in leather. I knew Otters and Twinks would fly over heads as well.

She's like fluorite when she's trying to be a diamond. I personally would have gone with talc, but you're more experienced than I am in this area.

I would be a tent pisser. It's bad enough to have wild kingdom around my tent, I wouldn't want to mingle with the animals to go pee.

Well some people think that if they pee around their tent they will keep animals away, but I think it could also intrigue animals, so I go in the woods or in the outhouse. Speaking of the outhouse, we screened all the dirt, made the walls straight with a plumb bob, and did a soil profile of the walls. I don't think I've ever peed on anything that scientific before.

Oh and I was burning with rage that no one got my Anchorman jokes about periods and bears.

Brick Tamland: I read somewhere their periods attract bears. Bears can smell the menstruation.

I said that to someone as a joke and she freaked out that bears would come after her. When I shared with the others, they had never seen Anchorman either. It kind of made me sad to not have that pop culture reference appreciated.
