Craziest Pet Names
I was just thinking today about my pets and their names. I have two dogs, one a blueheeler (or Catahoula) and one a Somma (some of this and some of that--he'll never tell! But he looks like a mix of German Shepard and something).
Anyways, these two dogs have seemingly strange names--Ignatius Starbucks who we call Iggy, and Javier Darwin who we call Buddy. But over the years, we have had several dogs, all of which had the strangest names, or so it seemed. One dog was named, yes this was her actual name, Wonder Woman (o.k., I was 12 at the time) and we called her Bun Bun and several other variations. Another dog was named Brownie, one was named Pete Chief (he didn't last with us too long) and one was named Sheba (she was EEEVVVIIILLL) and RedRed. The only cat that I've ever had was named Peaches Picadilly (her "original" name was Morris the Cat--yep, cause she looked like him until I looked and found out that "he" was really a she). Just wondering was I the only one that had strange names for their pets? |
My friend named her duck--Abigail Vanderquack. I thought it was cute. lol
My dog's name is Martini, I don't think it is that strange. And my cousin's little chihuahua is named Elvis. |
I knew a cat named Fatty McButterpants.
|
My dog doesn't have a funny name, but she has a MILLION ridiculous nicknames. Oh yeah...my dog's name is Lucy, in case I haven't already posted that a million times. I'm a name stealer!
|
When I was a little girl I had a dog that I named Curtis Mathis. *lol* Everyone else called him Jesse, but I refused. To me he was always Curtis Mathis.
|
One of my cats is named Schrodinger; I couldn't help myself.
In college, I had a Betta fish whose name was Tau (my chapter was Beta Tau :) ) My sister had a goldfish and named him Abercrombie the Fish. |
My dogs are named Dipper and Stubby. Dipper's legs look like he was dipped in something, thus his name. When Stubby was a puppy, he had a little stub for a tail. Their names may be weird, but at least there's a reason haha.
My aunt's dog is named Boogie Man. I don't really know what's up with that one...haha |
My screen name is actually my dog's name.
|
My family dog's name right now is pretty normal (Shiloh), but my parent's are getting a new puppy and my dad wants to name it PALIN, which I find hysterical.
|
My ex boyfriend's brother has two purebred boxers (registered with the AKC - it always seems that dogs that get registered with the AKC have nutty names). One's name is Eric's Holiday Styles, but he goes by Styles, and the others name is Eric's General Noriega, but he goes by Norie.
The man named both dogs after himself though, lol! Our dog's AKC name is Lucky Blizzard Aces. Blizzard was his mommy's name, Aces was his daddy's name. I don't think Lucky is that weird a name for a dog though. |
Well, AKC names are a whole 'nother story. They have to be distinctive, so they can get wacky. My boxer has what I think is a fairly "normal" AKC name - Kaiser Chief von (Belle's last Name). Kaiser for short - Kais for even shorter.

Registered cat names are weird, too. The reason for this is that you start out with the cattery name (prefix) and then can end with an owner's cattery name (suffix). So a cat is bred by a cattery name (say, Special) and then purchased by another breeder whose cattery name is added to the end (say, Wheaties). On top of this, the actual cats would always be called by their nicknames/call names. Okay, here goes, adding presumed titles:
Grand Champion, Grand Premier Special Simon of Wheaties (nickname:Si) Other examples (these are ficticious): Triple Champion Lesson's Momentous Occasion of Rianda (nickname: Momo) and International Grand Champion Replication's Lasting Impression of Koolkats (nickname: Imp) Pedigrees are so much fun to read, whether they are horses, dogs, cats or something else. The names on them are really weird at times. |
After I get settled when I'm out of school, I plan to get a Corgi and name him Capt. Fuzzbutt, and my girlfriend has the option of calling him General Fluffybottom. Not joking.
|
Please don't do this to a Corgi. Give the dog its dignity! After all, this is the favored breed of the Queen of England. :)

My old college roommate's co-worker had a cat named Slut Kitty

I believe I've posted these before somewhere, but anyway... My cats always had a first and middle name that started with the same letter: Frisky Florena (Frisky) Chrissie Charlene (Chrissie) Natalie Nox (Nox) Then, after college, I got my first dog and decided he needed a REAL name. LOLOL... PourSISTAnCE's Pretty Pupstar (Po) Sadly, Po was hit by a car after he toppled a fence. He was a mutt, but definitely had some pit in him. He was just incredibly strong. |

One of my friends got a dog for her birthday and named her Lilian Louise, Lily Lou for short. It's definitely one of the most adorable names for a puppy I think.
|
My brother once had a dog whose name was Sarah, but she only responded when he said "DAMNIT SARAH!" so he shortened her name to Dammit.
|
My brother always wanted a beagle and he wanted to name it Snoopy and I always wanted a Golden Retreiver and name her Wonder Woman. However, Bun Bunn came to us when my Momma saw her tied up behind our house with a extension cord. So Mom decided to adopt her. We'd had our other dog, Brownie, for over 12 years before she had to put hi down because of his arthritis. So we were "dogless" for about 2 years.
Bun Bunn was blacker than tar, but she was a beaut! She had a white diamond in the middle of her chest and a little bit of tan fur on her paws and chest. She had the tip of her tail that was white and those were the only colors on her. Mom went to the store and asked me to name her and Wonder Woman was the name that I came up with, hence, Bun Bun. |
But my aunt had an EVIL AZZZ poodle that I CANNOT stand to this day (and that mutt is gone) named JoJo! God that thing....oooooohhhhhh wee! That was the meanest dog around! (yeah, it bit me so that's why I still think that dog is evil)
|
My brother had a friend who had a Boxer named Thor, and my Grandmother had a poodle named FiFi. And I forgot about my dog named Angel Angel.
Angle looked like a Jack Russell Terrier and a Mini Collie mixed together. She was a real cutie! We sometimes called her Foolie or Tuchee le Ruru! She was a pretty girl! Towards the end of her life, after we'd gotten Iggy, she became allergic---to him and us! She always thought that Iggy was a bit stupid! He didn't realize that she was a girl for about 3 years and when he was in heat, that little girl (who weighed about 30 lbs) got mad at him for trying to get busy with her. Next thing you knew, she had his whole head in her mouth--talked about pissed! It was funny to see though. |
One of my sisters had a cat named P*ssy Galore. Seriously.
|
One of my ex's had a cat named CFH (pronounced sea-off). It stood for "cat from hell."

I want to get two pugs, one black and one fawn (male and a female) and name them Stella and Adrian.
My bff had a dachshund named Pinocchio, and Siamese cats named Gilbert and Sullivan. |
One of my friends in undergrad had 2 very small "designer-y" dogs (they were like, Morkies or some weird thing) and they were named Big and Carrie.
|
I knew a dog named Mr. Bocephus. Don't ask me--I couldn't even begin to explain his owner's reasoning.
|
When I was kid, I had a rabbit named Mr. Lucas. Some some reason I didn't know he was a she until she died. I miss Mr. Lucas:(.
|
Still LMAO @ Abigail Vanderquack.
|
I had a rabbit named Wilberforce, and one named Bumper Barnaby Bumpkins. My chicken was named Houdini, and my son named his chicken Paper Paper Coconut.
|
My cousin's cat is named Chairman Meow.
|
My cat's name is Roxas (it was originally Roxy because i thought he was actually a she).
One of my AOII sisters dogs' names are Jalapeno Little Peanut and Princess PearlPuff Monet..yea. |
My sister named our dog Faith and my Betta fish (Which I got in college and is still alive) is named Theta...for obvious reasons.... :)

I have lots of weird animal names in my family starting with a black lab my dad found on the side of the road. He was named Traveler after we saw how he'd worn down the pads of his feet traveling. He was able to jump over our chainlink fence from a sitting position...he went back to his traveling days after a short time with us.
I have owned three dogs since I've been with my husband. Our first dachshund, Willow, is, surprisingly, a boy dog named after the main character in the movie "Willow" because (I hope I don't offend any little people) the dog is a red-headed midget! Our second dachshund is a rescue. His AKC name is Alton's Little Rascal. I know, how cliche is Rascal, but we couldn't change it after we realized that he actually knows his name. I changed it to Rascal Lee "My Maiden Name." We actually ALWAYS call both of them by their "full" names, The Willow Dog and The Rascal Dog. The last weird dog name is for a basset hound that I got my husband for Valentine's Day a few years ago. He'd always wanted a basset named Fred after "Smokey and the Bandit." We actually named the dog Frederick the Baron von Espy in honor of "Smokey and the Bandit" and Claus the Baron von Espy from "Intolerable Cruelty." Can you tell we're inspired by movies? twinkle555, my sister has two cats, one is a velvety brown cat, and the other is black and white like a guernsey cow. Their names are Foxy Brown and Roxy Hart (also movie references!) |

ETA: I guess my cats have funky names. Our first two are Fortune and Glory (we were watching a lot of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.) Glory is known more as GG or Ms. G. Fortune is Mr. F, Bubba, or as my husband calls him Sir Pees A Lot. (if the cat pees on something, he does it rarely, but he gets pissed at the other cats and then pisses). Theother two are Vinnie and Jack(who is called Jacky most of the time). Our recent addition, a little French bulldog, is Lulu. |
Mu uncle and aunt had a dog named Tille Mae Kofnofski (however they spelled that name). One time that dog actually got a real credit card from Master Card and Target. We all thought it was too funny!
