Wish me luck!

I think I am probably going back on Saturday also. I feel bad that I have gained back almost all I lost last year. WW is really the only thing I can stick with for any length of time.

Nikki_DZ 04-29-2004 11:19 PM

I went to my first meeting tonight. My mom and I are joining together. I have to do something to lose the baby weight, and mom wants to get her diabetes back under control. There were several women in the meeting who come into my work regularly (I'm a restaurant manager) so they joked that I need to keep them in line.

Wish me luck, as it seems my goal weight is really, really, REALLY far off ;)

i actually read that having something low fat and sugar free is actually worse because the fat will fill you up faster while the "free" stuff can cause you to eat more because there is no substance.

so indulging in a lil sheet cake here and there can't hurt. ;)

I haven't been going to the gym lately. I think I reinjured my knee and it hurts to climb stairs. So there goes my cardio...

SouthrnBelle 05-02-2004 06:08 PM

First Meeting

Okay folks.....the first meeting was weird, but since I paid for 4 weeks up front (said I'd give it a month) I'm gonna go.

Umm, today's my official first day counting points and it takes some careful planning. It's certainly not as easy as it sounds. I'm hungry right now and I'll remember not to overdo it at breakfast b/c you will pay for it later on in the day.

QUESTION: If you stay within your points but they all consist of fast foods... will you still lose weight? Somthing to think about.

kddani 05-02-2004 06:47 PM

So i've never done any kind of diet program before, but I just signed up for the WW online plan (i'd have a hard time going ot meetings.... none are very convenient either in time or place to my schedule).

tinydancer 05-02-2004 07:22 PM

Well, I re-joined yesterday. I had gained back all but 3 pounds that I had lost last year, which makes me :( . But I'm back on the bandwagon now.

I need to go to the grocery store. I don't have anything reasonable to eat and I'm getting hungry!

CatStarESP4 05-03-2004 01:00 AM

Tomorrow is my meeting and I am not sure how I did. However, I will keep you posted.

kddani 05-03-2004 10:11 AM

Wow, signing up for the website made me lose 3 pounds, lol!
I signed up last night, had to weigh myself. Then my normal weigh-in day is Monday... so I just weighed myself, 3 pounds lighter! Lol, it's amazing how different your weight can be depending on the time of day!

Lady Pi Phi 05-03-2004 10:21 AM

Congratulations to everyone who is losing!!

I on the other have fallen off the wagon...again.

I tried to get back one, but it's not working. I'm just not motivated to do anything lately.

kddani 05-03-2004 10:57 AM

I can definately see how frustrating WW can be. Since i'm under 150, I only get 20 points a day (plus whatever flex points and activity points or whatever they call them). That's not much at all! 8 ounces of OJ is 2 points, which really aggrevated me. I have a glass of OJ every day, for vitamin C reasons.

I gotta find some better things to eat for breakfast that are quick.... I usually have cereal or poptarts b/c they're quick and easy.... Poptarts are like 4 points each! Those Pillsburgh Toaster Streudels are 5! ARGH!

adpialumcsuc 05-03-2004 01:59 PM

Try whole english muffins. I can't remember the brand name but they are only 2 points. Costco also sells fat free breakfast fruit bars that are 2 points (I think).

chideltjen 05-03-2004 03:15 PM

sigh... there is nothing more depressing than working out for 4 months and trying on a bathing suit for the first time only to discover you look like you did 4 months ago...

I've fallen off the wagon for sure. i have Runner's Knee. So I have to stay away from high impact exercise and leg extentions at the gym. Guess I will be going to yoga more often...
But since I have been babying my knee, I stop working out. And then I eat more. ARGH!

CatStarESP4 05-03-2004 11:42 PM

Well, I went to the meeting and went up 1.6 pounds.

mshoole 05-04-2004 05:10 PM

I have found that if I am sign up to do something. Like this coming weekend (Mothers Day) I am particpating in a Y-ME Breast Cancer Run/ Walk. I forced myself to train and get in shape for it and I have lost alot of weight since I decided to do it.

I am sorry if I may seem so do this or do that. But, I wish you all best of luck. I have hit the Lifetime Membership as of today. I am so happy. Please anyone who is thinking of quitting, please pm me and I will help as much as possible.

AlphaGamDiva 05-04-2004 06:05 PM

just so you weight watcher guys know.......weight watchers and applebee's are joining forces.....10 WW menu items come to applebee's on may 17th.......including 2 desserts (which we tasted, and while small, are GOOD!)

SouthrnBelle 05-05-2004 04:12 PM

Whooo-Hoooo!

I'm toooooo crunk! I love Applebee's. I was just there Saturday and decided to splurge since it was my last day b/f I started POINTS. I can't wait to see the selections.

Nikki_DZ 05-05-2004 04:26 PM

If anyone does Yahoo Groups, there's a group called "weight_watchers_at_home". Group doesn't seem to be that active, but in the files section there is a document with 100 recipes wth the points calculated. I've tried several of them (Baked Red Snapper, Sunshine Salad, and Creamed Corn Pancakes) and they're all pretty good. We're having the White Chicken Chili tomorrow night!

some stuff will also be taken off the menu, kids, so watch out. if you liked the stir fry or aztec salad, get it quick and enjoy! it'll be gone soon. but there's a chicken skillet for WW coming, and some new salads, a 3 layer choc cake and a lemon berry cheesecake....there's this rice that's WW and it is the BOMB! most of the stuff being replaced by WW is stuff that is rarely if ever ordered (turkey and spin dip sandwich, bbq brisket, etc), but my mom is pissed about the stir fry!!!!!  lol

weight loss jealousy

Hi everyonel. I don’t post here too often but I noticed there was a WW thread on GC and I wanted to ask you guys something.

I have been on WW since November of 2003 and I have lost 25 lbs. I have gone from a size 11 in juniors to a size 3. Now all of this is great and I am so happy about it, but today one of my good friends told me about a comment someone made about me. We went to high school with this guy and she works with him now. When she told him I was a size 3 now, he goes "No way! _________ isn't even that size!" And apparently it bothered him that I was that small. I just don't understand that kind of comment coming from a guy. And I asked her why he would even be upset and she said that it's cuz his girl is not even that small so it bothers him that I would be.

I don’t even know this guy that well! We haven't really spoken since high school; I am married and settled in my life now too. I just don't get it.

Do you guys experience stuff like this? I just don't know how to react or feel and I don't want his negative energy affecting my mood or my weight loss. Any insight would really help. Thanks for listening guys.

Are you happy with your weight loss? Are you happy with your man? Your life?

If you are happy (or content...cause let's face it, bot everyone is happy all the time) then who cares about this guy?!

You haven't seen him since highschool, his opinion doesn't matter. And it never should have and it never will!

He's upset because you're smaller then his girlfriend. Well obviously that shows he bases his relationships solely on the physical. he's an insecure little man and isn't worth your time.

be happy with your self and what you have achieved!

Congratulations on your weight loss!

zchiprincess 05-06-2004 03:15 PM

Thanks Lady Pi Phi for the congrats.

Yes I am very happy with everything right now. I am not so much worried about his opinion as I am shocked that someone would be jealous like that, you know? I have sensed it from other women before, but coming from a man? I guess he is insecure that his girl is not as thin and that does truly show a lot about his character.

But thanks for the insight. I guess haters will always wanna hate. I am just gonna be the new skinnier me :).

Girl you go on with your bad self! I can't wait until I'm 25lbs lighter and I DARE somebody to hate on me. As long as you're healthy and happy, nobody else matters.

tinydancer 05-06-2004 05:54 PM

:( Well, having a Mexican luncheon at school yesterday didn't do me any good. I'm drinking lots of water today. I just hope I will lose SOMETHING by Saturday when I go to weigh. I'm having a hard time getting motivated this time around, though.

kddani 05-06-2004 06:24 PM

So i have a craving for chocolate, and I think i might be able to have some self control now that i'm journaling everything, so I made some brownies, but used applesauce instead of vegatable oil. 1/3 cup veggie oil is 19 points, 1/3 cup applesauce is .5. HUGE savings. Ends up being 2.75 each brownie instead of nearly 4. Just hope they turn out edible. We'll find out in a half hour.

have you ever tried the No Pudge brownies? They sell the mix at Trader Joes and other stores in that genre. Basically it's a chocolate mix and you make it with non fat vanilla yogurt. They aren't bad... they just kinda taste like a snackwell's snack. Kinda too chewy. But they don't have many calories!

Hmmm... i'll have to see if any stores around me have them (we don't have Trader Joes in the area).

Verdict on my brownies: not too bad. More cakey texture. They're the chocolate chunk kind, so they might taste better once they're cooled and hardened up a bit.

adpialumcsuc 05-06-2004 07:26 PM

Ok so the week before I gained 3 lbs. I was very upset. I spent a whole day working outside with forth graders in the 100 degree heat. I sure felt like I sweated at least 10 lbs. Yesterday when I weighed I was down 6 lbs. YEAH!! Lost the 3 I gained and 3 more. I am very excited because I am now down 30lbs total!!!!

Nikki_DZ 05-06-2004 11:46 PM

Lost 3lbs my first week! I didn't think I lost anything, as I didn't actually start until this past Monday, and we pigged out all weekend. Pleasant surprise :)

For those fiending for chocolate-the SmartOnes chocolate cake dessert is very yummy, and only 3 points. I also got a box of the "Just 2 Points" bars at my meeting tonight-not bad.

mshoole 05-09-2004 07:26 PM

Congrats on your 3lb weight lost.

I did the Breast Cancer Run/Walk. Lots of excerise to come home and play tennis for about 3 hours. I hope I lose even more on Tuesday. Good Luck to all.

CatStarESP4 05-10-2004 12:58 AM

Tomorrow's is my meeting. I will let you know if I did well or not.

then why post in this thread?

kddani 05-10-2004 07:28 AM

Only lost a pound in my first week (I did my own weigh in this morning). But that may also be due to the fact that WW totally flew out the window yesterday for Mother's Day and I had entirely too much crap.

toocute 05-10-2004 12:20 PM

I went to weigh in for the first time in two weeks and was shocked that I only gained .4 pounds. I guess I wasn't as bad as I thought but hubby and I are getting back in the swing now (We said this last week too but we really mean it this week)

:D

Hang in there everybody!

etahannah 05-10-2004 02:02 PM

not too sure if this has been posted yet or not, (not enough time to read the whole thread) but Applebee's has signed a 5 yr agreement with WW and there is a new menu at Abee's. each food has the points listed and there are even desserts. I work at Abee's but have not tried anything yet but i hear some of the stuff is good...

:) :)

mshoole 05-10-2004 02:06 PM

Good Luck to all in their weigh in this week. Congrats to all who did well this week. And, stay focused for all who slipped this week.

CatStarESP4 05-11-2004 01:28 AM

I went to my meeting and went up .6 of a pound.
