Real time results of the Ladies Short:

USCTKE 02-21-2006 05:38 PM

team USA is pretty screwed tomorrow. We seem to find some offense then turn around and leave a guy alone on the backside of the ice or let him take a wide open shot from the top of the circles or we turn it over in our zone with everyone hauling ass the other way...I wonder when the developmental program is gonna start paying off

Wow... that's surprising. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so... for those of you who clicked the link, anyone know what happened to the American who is in last place (last among the Americans)? [That didn't spoil anything did it?]

I don't think she's skated yet.

AOIIalum 02-21-2006 05:55 PM

There are still 4 women to skate as of the current update (Liashenko, Suguri, Kostner, and Cohen). I'm very interested if and how things shift after they finish.

chitownxo 02-21-2006 06:31 PM

Check the results because everyone has now finished!

AGDee 02-22-2006 06:50 AM

Go Sasha! Emily did great, so did Kimmie. Having all 3 skaters in the top 7 is really great.

Go Sasha! She skated incredibly last night!

xo_kathy 02-22-2006 10:48 AM

I may get slugged for this, but Boo Sasha! I don't like her. She has always seemed bitchy and stuck-up to me. AND, she chokes. $5 says she falls at least once tomorrow night.

I love me some Irina Slutskya (yeah, I'm sure I spelled it wrong!). She's been through so much and always has a smile. I really hope she takes the gold. Sasha can have the silver I guess. :p

I'm with you. I've got your $5 and double it for a fall and another major choke move.

honeychile 02-22-2006 11:30 AM

I'm going to eat crow concerning Emily Hughes - she skated much better than I expected. I still think the political part will keep her from medaling, but she was darn good.

I missed Kimmie Meissner, and didn't see any outstanding highlights. Sasha Cohen is good (can't take that away from her), but doesn't seem to have won anyone's heart yet.

Sorry about how big this picture is, but you have got to see her face:

Tell me, when was the last time you saw a big breasted female athlete??

It's called muscle.

It also throws you off balance during jumps etc. Just like gymnastics, the women have to keep around 100 pounds to be successful.

i knew a girl in high school who played basketball. she is good and big. but she was one the bigger side in general.

did anyone here catch the news conference about the speed skating smackdown between davis and hedrick? i think hedrick is at fault. if davis didnt want to skate in the team pursuit, he shouldnt have to really explain why. hedrick wanted to win more than anything.

That press conference was one of the more uncomfortable sports moments I've seen in a while. To have those guys a few feet from each other, complaining about the other one; that makes for some good sound bytes.

It seemed to me after one particular comment, I think it was the one where Davis openly criticized Hendrick, that Hendrick was trying to be the better person and bite his tongue. (So much so, I am sure he drew blood!!!

A Random DphiE 02-22-2006 12:46 PM

i think chad & davis are both at fault.

they are both full of themselves and have too much pride to back down...

it really doesnt matter to me... i love drama! ♥

Canada just got 2 more medals today. A gold and a silver in 1500m speed skating.

Our total is now 17. I still don't think we're going to make our goal of 25 though.

Didn't we get 3 today? A gold and silver in Speed Skating and a Gold in women's Cross Country...

I think the American skaters did a wonderful job last night.

In fact, all the women skated beautifully and I was truly impressed.

Yes we did!!!

ETA: We won a fourth medal today. Another silver in speed skating. Now we have 18 medals. We're tied with the US in the medal count.

BetteDavisEyes 02-23-2006 05:50 PM

Sasha Cohen did what she has done many times in the past. Starts out strong & totally chokes when it counts the most.

ms_gwyn 02-23-2006 06:09 PM

She got the Silver, Japan the Gold and Slutskaya bronze (she must have fell and not done good with her other elements - besides jumping)

AznSAE 02-23-2006 06:14 PM

i was looking at the yahoo photos and all the usa skaters did this on ice:

BetteDavisEyes 02-23-2006 06:40 PM

I'm not saying silver is bad. Not at all. I'm just pointing out that there have been other times when she's had the opportunity to really prove to the world that she's the best but she always runs into trouble like she did today. However, good job to her for staying focused in the wake of all the Michelle Kwan hoopla. Not everyone can say they have been to an Olympics & not everyone can say they have a medal regardless of color.

ms_gwyn 02-23-2006 07:27 PM

I know what you mean....

I hear people all the time complaining about how the US Team sucks this year, blah, blah, blah.....

I just keep my mouth closed b/c I am libel to hurt some feelings, with such comments as (this is my nicer): Hey how about you go perform a triple, triple jump combo, do 1 run of a biathlon or one try at ski jumping...then come talk to me.

Besides, only a handful of winter Olympic event is US athletes really excel at anyway...so STFU!

I also have to point out that Michelle Kwan, always did seem to "choke" during the Olympics as well....but man...how many Olympics has she been a part of, including being an alternate.

I am happy that these ladies did so well....GO USA!

i have to disagree. i watched the 1998 game of nagano japan. she did not fall or stumble. the reason she lost was because she was the first to skate. the judges usually dont give out all the points early. tara was somewhere in the end.

however, i think she did fall in salt lake.

georgewallace3 02-23-2006 08:11 PM

nice thinking ace.......
