Zeta Tau Alpha was founded on Oct. 15, 1898 at Longwood College. It is the 3rd largest sorority right behind Chi Omega and Delta Zeta. My chapter Iota Pi was started in 1986 and we are going strong! We are the second largest on my campus! :)

Alpha Delta Pi was founded may 15, 1851 at Welsleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia
Zeta Eta chapter here at UNA was founded February 17, 1973...first sorority on campus!!:) |
Gamma Phi Beta wazs founded November 11, 1874 at Syracuse University. Our Alpha chapter is still active there.
We were one of the original 7 NPC sororities. AND we were the first women's organization to be called a sorority!!! |
website with greek history

Kappa Alpha Theta "THE FIRST GREEK LETTER FRATERNITY FOR WOMEN" was founded in 1870 at Asberry college, now Depaul University in Indiana. My chapter is the centenial chapter or the 100 chapter founded in 1970.
Other women organizations were founded before us but they didn't use greek letters. We were the first and then others such as Phi Mu started using greek letters. The reason we are a Frat and not a sorority is because the word sorority had not been invented yet. |

Okay, since none of my TriDelta sisters are going to post...
Delta Delta Delta was founded on Thanksgiving Eve in 1888 at Boston University. Yay for Sarah Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcus Pond! We were also one of the seven original NPC sororities. My chapter, Theta Pi, was founded November 14, 1925. |
Sorry TriDeltaGal, I swear I was going to post, but you beat me to it!!
So, as you said, it was a lovely Thanksgiving Eve in 1888 when Tri Delta was founded :) And my chapter, Phi Omicron, was founded in February of 1958! |
Sigma Nu
My brother has posted our National founding.
My chatper of Sigma Nu, Delta Theta, was founded in 1891, at Lombard college, and went to Knox when Lombard went under in 1931/32. Our alpha chapter is no longer around, as VMI no longer allows GLO's, but our Headquarters is within walking distance of the school, and has a nice sense of history. And I'd like to say to all the Wonderful AXD's out there, I know some of your history as well, with my chapter :) Good luck to you all. M. Delta Theta chapter of Sigma Nu Knox College |
