Lindsey Jacobellis (sp?) was something like 2 slopes ahead, has about 100 feet to the finish line, and decided to do a hot dog jump, instead of a regular one. She fell, skidded out of bounds, and ended up about 5-6 feet behind the gold medal winner (Switzerland).

I have the feeling that you'll be seeing it again and again and again and again and again...

She has a commercial for Hebrew National Hot Dogs - they should make her their new spokesperson for the next four years!!

bull shit, she screwed up a chance to sweep a medal event for her country. she should be ashamed. the olympics is no place to showboat and screw around with the prestige that comes with winning a gold metal.

That was sad, but at least we now know the Canadian men are human.

However, I still say that Mr. Nash should have had that goal.

Did anyone see the interview with Shani Davis the speed skater dude after he won the gold medal? Does anyone know about the surrounding drama with the US mens speed skating team, because the guy did not look or sound excited/happy to have won the gold medal. I was like "don't worry, be happy, you just got the gold!" The reporter lady was kinda bitchy to him, but he acted like he would rather be getting a root canal than talking to her.

I saw that, too, and heard the various reporters commenting on it. You just know that there's a story behing it; I just pray that it isn't racist!

based on this story on sports illustrated: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html i think it has more to do with shani bucking the team and going for himself first

ShaedyKD 02-19-2006 03:00 AM

One story from ESPN on the subject

Apparently the beef is between Chad and Shani

ETA: Thanks for the link jillybean, I did some investigating on my own too! But seriously, if there is beef between them, and Shani beat out Chad, why wouldn't he be estatic about winning the gold?

actually I am watching ESPN and alot of it was race driven. He was receiving racist letters and death threats.

Taualumna 02-19-2006 07:21 PM

WTF is with the Canadian men's hockey team? Lost again!

bcdphie 02-19-2006 07:27 PM

Last night the sports host on CKNW told us don't go jumping off any bridges, blow ourselves up or do anything rash yet. He concluded by saying, if we lose to Finland then it's time hit the panic button...

I think Quinn rested Brodeur because there is another game tomorrow and I think he wanted Brodeur to be rested and not play 2 games one right after another. I know Luongo played well but I wonder if the result would have been different?

I was wondering the same thing myself - Luongo is good, but Brodeur is the best!

Please keep the updates coming! :)

I think it's a little weird that here they're showing the game at 2:30 IN EVERY TIME ZONE

As much as I would've loved to see the USA in the game playing you guys, I think they did an awesome job in the tournament and am proud of their bronze!

Taualumna 02-20-2006 05:45 PM

4-1 Canada final.

bcdphie 02-20-2006 06:03 PM

Lady Pi Phi 02-20-2006 06:14 PM

I agree, the US played hard. I wonder if the results would have been different if Cami Granato was playing?

Who is #8 on Team USA? She seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem. Every other woman on the team was smiling on cheering for themselves. She was crying and had to be comforted by 2 of her team mates. She was short with the medal presenter when the rest of her team mates where thanking the medal presenters. I understand that you're upset and you would have like to have won gold, but be happy with the result. Your team played hard. And if you're not happy, at least pretend for the sake of your team mates.

cutiepatootie 02-21-2006 10:13 AM

its about time...... tonight the women's figure skating starts!

AOIIalum 02-21-2006 10:39 AM

I finally remembered to DVR the Olympic Ice program last night. I really enjoyed it. Who knew that Dave Pelletier was so darned perceptive as an analyst?

I'm so hoping the women's doesn't equal a gold medal sweep for the Russians. I like Irina well enough, but I'm really a fan of Carolina Kostner of Italy and Shizuka Arakawa of Japan. As for the US women, I'm keeping an eye on Kimmie Meissner.

...back to hockey...Canadian men win 3-2 over Czech Republic. Now on to the quarterfinals...

ZTABullwinkle 02-21-2006 02:17 PM

I am confused with the men's hockey. The announcers said that Team USA still could qualify for the next round....Is this true?

yes, because everyone below them has not won yet and top 4 teams from each group heads to the next round.

Thank god!

Maybe Gretzky's pep talk worked, or the women's win woke them up.

USCTKE 02-21-2006 03:54 PM

can we get the USA hockey program a shot coach? I can not count how many point blank shots the USA has just missed the net completely on. Not to mention we have just given up to break away goals to Russia.

AznSAE 02-21-2006 04:16 PM

usa added 3 more medals today.
