I'm met people who've joined underground APO 'chapters' who think they are APO brothers, etc. Some have contacted our National Office to become Life Members, only to be told they were never Brothers, so can't. These groups did NOT hide behind other names, tho am sure some do. I've heard stories of members of such groups walking around their campuses wearing APO letters, etc. |
Here in is the Problem!
Hey While We are Underground, We Still are XYZ GLO. "BUT", if they are underground, are they recognized By HQ? If those Members Join thinking that they upon Graduation be Alums of Said GLO, will and does it happen?:( Guess it is dependent on School and GLO! |

I understand what you're saying about operating underground. My chapter operated underground for two years after a university suspension and a pulled charter by nationals. Nobody wore letters but we did get new guys. Eventually it phased out into us just being one big group of friends when the new chapter came along and was filled with guys not of the same likes as us. Still we recruited other guys to go into the new chpater without nationals knowing about it. Now they have a bunch of studs there again. I'm a little anxious to know how well the chapters are doing that are operating and recruiting underground. Care to fill me in? |
If i were them i'd go ahead and initiate them, and have thier new members set up a dummy local there and if they ever get a chance to recolonize or what not just have them do it
|
Yes, but what happens if they are not Re-Chartered?
Always the possibility and so then where are the So Callled New Members? Can only be done with a sanction from HQ! Basically Chapter Roll Numbers. |

As Tom pointed out, for the men to be members, HQ would need to recognize them. (i.e. chapter rolls etc.) So how would an underground group - i.e. non HQ recognized 'locals' - be able to initiate them as true brothers of the fraternity? It seems like once the fraternity re-charters/recolonizes, HQ would only reinstate *known* (recognized) members. Those that weren't forced to go alum. And as such, the local guys would more or less be SOL and required by HQ to rush again. And if HQ was overseeing the bidding, there may be no guarantee that they would be offered a bid. Sounds too shady. |
