Yes I have posted on the DG forum under that thread. I just don't understand what happened? I think it could be a computer problem or something. That's all I can think of. I know our girls did an awsome job which is why I am so confused...

Weren't there some problems at UGA last year, too? I don't see how the "top" houses competing for the same girls should make that much difference. That happened at my school every year (although the system only had about 200 go through Pref) and we never had huge discrepancies.

my thoughts
This has happened to my chapter (nameless) at my school (nameless) in the past. The problem we had was that quota is set after round 3, so ladies who drop out afterwards are still part of the quota number. Other problems include suiciding (hate that word) and dirty rushing. In the past some chapters have dirty preffed and said to suicide and if the lady did not get in she would be snapped by the chapter.
Nothing hurts worse than a quota of 60 and only matching 12. I am sorry it happened to you guys and the other chapters at UGA who suffered b/c the system needs to be changed. Maybe this will be another catalyst for the changes, though I doubt it. Good Luck!! PC wishes, C |
Delta Zeta pledged 60 wonderful women, but I don't know about the other houses yet!
|
PI PHI MADE QUOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They pledged 62 NM and very happy!!!!!!!!!!!
I will update with other chapters when I find out! |
I just read the Delta Gamma thread...VERY FISHY!!!!!
Is there a chapter advisor or someone you could talk to??? we had something similar happen to us one year, we met quota but some girls who we knew had put us first ended up somewhere else, then came back crying why we didnt take them...it turned out to be super dirty (rho gamma) rushing... :( but our advisor really fought for us and stood up for us til she was in tears over how unfair it was...nothing could be done about the girls who were cut (suddenly) but this year there are ALOT more strict rules in place for rho gammas to limit the number of "mistakes" that are made. good luck with everything...does anyone know how the other organizations did and if other houses had similar problems???? |
Did I read the article from UGa correctly 1,245 young ladies received bids?
That does not calculate with quota of 62, with what has been posted or I have heard through the grapevine! |
read between the lines
When I read the DG thread I see plenty of warning signs that the chapter may not make quota.
I seriously think we are going to rock rush! We found out today that each party will have 70 PNMs, which is good because that means only a few girls will have to double rush. chapters that have to worry about double rushing meaning they don't have a competitive size with other chapters Girls that were pulled to be cut 1st and 2nd round were back 3rd round. Just not good!! Obviously this chapter needs to be inviting women back to have full parties. Weak rushing chapters often have women who chapter members want released invitied back. The chapter members notice this as rush goes on.. I am not sure about the preffing over 200 girls and matching so few. They would have had to have about 66 women per party so they would have had full pref parties. However as a former advisor I never told chapters exactly what their returns were... |
I don't think it's quite fair to call DG a "weak rushing chapter." As someone stated above, AOPi and ADPi (both EXTREMELY strong houses at UGA) had to snap bid.
I have heard SO many horror stories about rush at UGA. I think there is clearly a problem in the system...which sucks, since a bad rush can KILL a chapter. |
I heard a good story to come out of UGA's rush.
2 freshman girls that graduated from my high school had been friends for years and played high school softball together. One went through rush at Auburn, the other at UGA. The Auburn girl recieved a bid on Saturday to Alpha Chi Omega, and tonight, her UGA friend recieved her bid... ... to Alpha Chi Omega :D |

There are many reasons chapters can temporarily be at a small size...high graduation rate the previous year, for example, or many students on junior year abroad. I think it is unfair and rude to label a chapter you know nothing about as a "weak rushing" chapter. As we went through last year...there are lots of messes within the UGA system and I sincerely hope everyone who got screwed by it this year takes some action. It is not fair to the sororities or rushees. |

This is what I've learned. There are definitely a number of houses that made quota. And, there are houses that had to snap-bid. What is interesting and peculiar, I guess, is that some of the houses that offered snap-bids are houses that are considered the traditionally strong, or top houses, at UGA. I have heard that some of the snap-bids went to girls who were cut after second round. Anyway, that's the poop from me. If I can verify who is going to do COB I will post that for you all. Thanks! |
has anyone gotten the results yet, I mean in terms of all the chapters and how they did?
