Hey MysticCat - where's my shortbread?

Hey, I provided the recipe. That's as good as it's going to get this time of year.

Soft, gooey (for chocolate chip), fresh out of the oven = you will have my heart for eternity (after Sen, of course).

I'm not gonna lie, I made M&M cookies for Christmas and took them to the various Christmases we had this year. Everyone loved them.

They were soft.

Soft cookies all the way. But never ever those chewy chips ahoy. *GAG*

I'm with MysticCat on this one. I don't especially like chocolate, so chocolate chip cookies aside, I like sugar for home made or short bread for store bought. And sugar cookies should be made with LARD, not butter, for god's sake not margarine and not crisco. The crispy deliciousness goes up 10 fold.

And if I may add, store bought short bread cookies shmeared with store bought jar frosting (vanilla only) is my guilty indulgence.

As usual, I'm going to be persnickety about things. I prefer my cookies hard around the edges but chewy in the center.

Case in point: Giant (it's a grocery store) makes these incredible oatmeal raisin cookies that, when you bite into them, have a satisfying crunch. Then, as you work your way to the middle, they get soft and chewy and buttery.....oh man, they are GOOD!!!
