Anyone who knows their way around Pitt's website.....is there a central location where I can find the sororities webpages? I know Kappa Delta's and a friend gave me DPhiE's. I did a search and found the IFC website, but that doesn't give me anything. Suggestions?

I'm not even sure if a panhel page exists at the moment.
One of my sisters in the chapter is going to be the webmaster starting in the fall, so hopefully that will change.
That i'm aware of, the only ones that have websites are us (KD), DPhiE, and TPA. SDT has one but it's extremelly out of date.

Our DPhiE site is out of date as well. We can't get anyone to take it down. LONG story!

I need to do a little bragging, figured this was the best place to do so.

One of my pledge brothers was just selected to be the Greek week overall for next year. I’m so proud of him, but more so of our chapter. With his position that puts us at having 3 major leadership positions on campus. In addition to Greek week overall one of our brothers is the IFC President, and we have a brother on Student Government Board. More impressive than that they are all from the same pledge class.

We also just won second place in this year’s Greek week. We also won our first Cathedral award ever. It was me I won recruitment chair of the year. I also get to go to our national leadership academy in June.

For those of you who know last year we were threatened with losing our charter. So we are really excited about all this recognition, and can’t wait for fall rush. Again I just wanted to brag thanks for humoring me.

For you non-Pitt people, Greek Week overall chair is a HUGE deal so this is definitely worth bragging about!

PS How did DZ do in Greek Week? I know Tri Delt won, but did we place?

DZ didn't place in overall Greek week but they did well in some events. Their Greek sing performance was insanely good. I mean it was really good. More importantly I think the female overall is a DZ I didn't recognize the name and i knew everyone but a DZ and a ChiO so it’s a 50/50 chance.

DZ won Greek Sing, and got Second overall in GW b/c of the fact that they got Second in Charity... I could be wrong but I am normally on point with remembering things.

I spent a week at my mama's after she had some minor surgery, and her house has become the repository of several yearbooks. Two of them happened to be old Pitt yearbooks (my two great-aunts?), and so I looked up the Greek sections. Here's the sororities listed, and the number of members that they had mentioned:

Now, how correct those figures are, I don't know - I was just copying them out of the yearbooks. Also, I can remember some NPC National Executives telling us that before Pitt became a state-related university, it was considered "the" school for those people (especially Jewish, according to them) who had applied to Ivy League schools and for whatever reason, didn't get in or go to.

I wouldn't be surprised at what you were saying honeychile about Pitt.....even though we've always been non-sectarian-our earliest chapters consisted mostly of Jewish women. Although as you can see, in 1960 we werent there anymore.

I thought it was pretty cool - I had once argued with an elderly ZTA that they weren't at Pitt! I felt embarrassed after seeing these books :blush:

Actually, Delta Phi Epsilon was considered a "Jewish" sorority when I went to Pitt.

Beta Sigma Omicron sounded familiar to me, too, but I can't place it. I'm going to check Ariesrisings' site.

Oh, each fraternity sweetheart had a full page, with an evening gown picture, another in "school clothes", and a posed sweet/sexy pose. Very campy!

BSO was founded December 12, 1888, in Columbia, MO. Just a few months after their 75th anniversary in 1963, they closed. 7 of their 14 remaining college chapters became ZTA chapters.

I believe they were one of the early members of NPC. At one point they had chapters at high schools and junior colleges and left NPC. They tried to make the transition back to 4 year colleges and had to close about 50 chapters to regain NPC status. They never quite recovered after that.

That's all I know so far.

Thanks radioZTA. I thought perhaps that it was one who had merged, but I wasn't sure and didn't want to offend anyone (in case I was wrong). So, I know I've wondered this out loud before, but who else has been at the lovely University of Pittsburgh (that isn't there now)? I love to hear about this kind of stuff.

BEST BARS? for a 21st Birthday
 

So Pitt people I have a question,

What are the best bars in the burgh for a 21st Birthday? I finally turn 21 Tuesday :D and I'm looking for bars that do something special.

My friend went to Have a Nice Day Cafe and they let all her friends in for free gave her free drinks, a gift certificate for another time, and a happy hour for her and her friends. (They only do this on Saturdays, so I can't partake) I'm looking for stuff like this so that my friends have a good time but dont have to spend an arm and a leg.

So impart your wisdom and let me know the best places to go.

On a side note:
What are some cool things you or your friends did or had on your 21st? My friends are having me write down every shot and where i took it but that's a little too much work for me. Any Ideas?
