Buttonz-

I think you would probably be better off on the points then. I'm always running from work to school too, with at least an hour of traffic, too. CORE requires lots of thought in advance, and there isn't much give. You can only eat the foods on the CORE list, and if the food isn't there....

Like last night for example, I was all set to have a salad for dinner. When that didn't happen (what kind of school cafe runs out of salad?) I was able to subsitute a piece of pizza because I had the extra points available.

It comes down to a personal choice. But I've just noticed a lot of women in my group saying the same thing- "I don't have enough time to do CORE."

1.2 lbs this week. not as steller as last week, but hey i also had about 4 glasses of red sangria on wed night. i don't even want to know how many points are in there.

has anyone tried the smoothie shakes? i was thinking about it, but i don't know if would like them.

DCDDD:

Make your own smoothies. Use skim milk, ice cubes, a bit of orange juice, a few strawberries, and 1/2 a banana. You can also make healthy choc. millkshakes this way. Use the sugar-free chocolate syrup, skim milk, ice, & a bit of light cool whip.

It's all in measuring the servings of what you put in. A good blender, some ice, and measuring cups will get you started.

I LOVE making shakes/smoothies like that.

Has anyone here ever tried Jenny Craig?

I know an earlier poster mentioned starting on Jenny Craig (I can't find the post and I don't feel like sifting through 30 pages, lol)

What do you think? Did it work? Better than WW or just different?

NO NO NO NO NO. Well, that's my opinion. :D
I did JC a few years ago and HATED IT. You have to buy their food, which tastes like crap. It gets really expensive and didn't work for me. I think I actually gained weight because I couldn't eat their stuff. I don't think it really teaches you how to eat, either.

bsp-mich24 02-24-2005 02:17 AM

Just my .02 cents.....

I'm a lifetime member of JC and yes it is very expensive. I only liked the frozen foods which costs the most. I just happened to join when they offered specials on the JC lifetime membership programs back in 1995.

I haven't done it faithfully since 96 but I have gotten a few meals now and then. Eventually, the program teaches you how to make the right eating choices and meal plans.

Side note: neither WW nor JC work for me after the 1st 10 lbs or so and I ended up gaining the lost weight back. I also did WW when they still had the food centers where you could buy their food there (more of a selection than the grocery stores).

So I've decided to do a 10 day challenge with a few of my co-workers. Basically it's 10 days, and there are certain rules we have to follow, and consequences if we don't follow the rules. We all have to sign a contract, and it works on the honour system.

When they send me my contract I'll post it in case anyone wants to join in.

*bump*

How is everyone doing?

I went on vacation and "left my points tracker" home and drank too many pina colodas and ate at too many all you can eat buffets. I went to a meeting when I got back but didn't get weighed ( I couldn't bring myself to do it). I'm starting my points again today.

I was down 12lbs...but I think I added at least 5lbs back to that.

I make my own 3 pt. smoothies for breakfast every day. I use 1/2 a cup of plain non-fat yogurt, 1/2 a cup of orange juice, 1 cup of frozen unsweetened fruit & artificial sweetner.

Well I won't starve myself, but I will eventually reward myself with expensive jeans.

Which brand do you recommend? :D

Slightly OT, but I caught the tail end "What Not To Wear" on TLC today, and this lady who was a typical "mom-turned-glam" type came out to show off her new clothes, and the hosts went on and on about how good she looked (because she did), but then they went on to say that her pants cost $160, and her shirt cost $200. I'm still an undergrad, and I would never DREAM of spending that kind of money on clothes. I remember one time, in my last year of high school, I splurged and spent $72 on a pair of American Eagle jeans that I thought were cute (boot-cut, dirty denim look, back when it was cool--I think that lasted for what, six months or so?), for back to school, and then when I wore them to school on the first day, EVERY GIRL IN SCHOOL had jeans EXACTLY like mine. What's more, the jeans I had bought were completely worn out by Christmas time. So, while "What Not To Wear" can be a fun diversion, sometimes, I just want to strangle the people on that show for being so wasteful....I mean, $360 could buy a whole bunch of really nice clothes from say, Old Navy. But hey, since I've never worn really expensive jeans, I guess I don't really understand the appeal......is there really a huge difference? Seriously, I'm curious.

I'm up this week, but with TOM any day now and weighing in after I ate (which I never do) I'm hoping that at least some of it was because of that. I need to start cutting back on my carbs, because that works for me.

DolphinChicaDDD 05-07-2005 08:52 PM

i made my 10% about 3, and i'm down a total of about 17 lbs. problem was i haven't been back since then because i've been too crazy with work and all.

i hope when i go back next friday, i won't be up. if i'm not, i hope to move onto maintenence
