Sorry my heart (Kddanni)
BUT GO SEATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WEST COAST BABY! |
Hey 33girl, how many people do you know that are drunk already?
There is going to be so much alcohol consumed in this city tonight. People are absolutely insane. If they win tonight, it's going to be like nothing this city has ever seen before. It was insane enough when we won the AFC championship. I'll be watching the game at a party in Mt. Lebanon. If they win, i'll probably be sad i'm not in the South Side or Strip, but if they lose, i'll be thankful for being in the suburbs with a quick drive home. Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow (didn't want to waste one of my precious few vacation days), so no huge partying for kddani. :( |
Though I've always been a die-hard Bronco fan, being a Bama alumni, I can't but hope that Shaun Alexander wins a ring. If there ever was a nice, humble super-athlete in college, it was him!
|
Heh heh.... this Seattle-ite just made a nice little wager with kddani the Pittsburgh-ian...
GO SEAHAWKS!!!!! |
Game is just getting ready to start:
Impressive -- ALL of the MVP's, including Brother Delts, John Elway, Jim Plunkett and Mark Rypien! ETA, was it cool when Franco Harris whipped out that terrible towel? Seattle was in Denver's division for years, but I've got to go back to my Midwest roots... GO STEELERS! |
Here we go, Steelers, here we go!!!
ETA: VERY cool for Franco Harris and the Terrible Towel!! |
There's something about Polynesians that make me go grrrrrr...
Troy Polamalu and Lofa Tatupu come to mind. YUM. GO SEAHAWKS!!! Stop it with the CrownRoyal sandy! |
Grrr ... BAD CALL
That was the worst call I have ever seen.
THE BALL NEVER CROSSED THE LINE!!!     |
I have to admit - it didn't look too good to me. But in sports, I was always taught that "in the eyes of the referee..." was the gold standard.
*Twirls her Terrible Towel* |
The ref needs his eyes checking  ;)

Nah, Seattle is getting their pep talk now and are going to come back out with a chip on their shoulders and something to prove.
Hopefully they are going to come out and STOMP the silly, overconfident, only winning cause of bad calls, Steelers. :D GO SEAHAWKS |
Uh, huh....
|
See, we're coming back to get ya!!!
GO SEAHAWKS!!! |
the comeback's on!
|
Grrr...
I seriously think the ref is on Pittsburg Steelers payroll. He definately seems biased towards them
|
Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a well-played game! :)
|
Five Super Bowl wins! Congratulations, Steelers!
|
We finally got the
One For The Thumb!!!!! WOO HOO!!!! |
Sure, now all you Pittsburg fans can go write the checks for the ref you all paid off
:D |
Congrats to the Steelers, it was well deserved!
ETA: Cute baby Hines Ward |

And the Bus is stopping in Detroit. Puts a little bit of a sad spin to it, even though we all expected it. Did y'all see his mother wiping her tears with a Terrible Towel? |
Didn't give a crap about who won but glad to see Georgia grad Hines Ward won the MVP.

Way to go, Delt Alum! Not so much here, but on the other message board I've been on tonight, I have never heard so much whining in my life!
It's a GAME, people!! |

Someone will have to pay up ;) |
I am so happy for Antwaan Randle El! :D :D :D

Re: Grrr...
You got that right! Mr. 1228 and I spent most of the game saying "WTF?"
Shaking my head... Quote:

Might as well quickly go on record.
As many of you know, I televised (directed) football games for many years. On the disputed TD, you have to NOT watch the very end of the play. It appeared to me that the ball did BARELY break the outside plane of the goal line, and was then pulled back before the first hit. Of course, to be able to tell exactly, you would have to know if that camera was precisely on the goal line. Bottom line is that the replay did not prove anything conclusively either way, so the call on the field had to stand. Besides, if that TD hadn't counted, Pittsburgh would only have won 14-10 instead of 21-10. It's over. It's in the books. Pittsburgh is World Champion. Period. And downtown Detroit looked great on TV tonight -- way to go Motown! |
Detroit did look good, DeltAlum, and it seems like they put on a good party.
Bottom line is that the Seahawks didn't get the job done. The Steelers made many mistakes and played pretty much what I thought was one of their worst games of the year (in terms of ridiculous mistakes). But the Seahawks made many mistakes themselves. The rules are the rules, and the calls were in line with the rules. As DeltAlum said, in order to reverse the call on the field, there has to be conclusive evidence on the replay. And there wasn't. Plus that was one play out of hundreds in the games. The Seahawks still lost by 11 points |
Congrats to the Steelers. With Foote and Bettis being hometown boys, it was impossible not to root for them.
Thanks for the positive Detroit comments. The city has come a long way over the last decade and hopefully will find a way to grow and prosper in spite of the bleak outlook with the auto companies right now. I hope people had a great time! And, I hate the Seahawks for getting that field goal with 22 seconds left in the first quarter. They stole $40 from me on my 0,0 square :( |

Well, PM/email me with where you want it sent. (I wouldn't want it to sit outside your apt.) And I still am proud of our Hawks! :) |
1 - the ball probably broke the goal line - if it didn't, then obviously there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call on the field
2 - every holding call on SEA was confirmed on replay 3 - PIT played as bad as possible (see: Roethlisktjeafdbakder's second INT) and still won 4 - read my advice earlier - giving the points was hot as shit |

Pittsburgh wasn't "luckier," Seattle just couldn't take advantage of the Steelers' mistakes. Pittsburgh won the game, fair and square - let's not be sore losers. |

Actually, the checks will be written out to Matt Hasselback. Payment in full for all those incomplete passes :D And there's an "h" at the end. It's the Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania; I think you may be thinking of Tommy Earp's Pittsburg, Kansas which does not, to my knowledge, have an NFL team :) And I agree with the people who say that Detroit looked really good :) Dani: I read about Pitt students rioting in Oakland. WTF??? Back in my days, everyone would have been too apathetic to go through the trouble of overturning cars and starting fires. Kids today  |
KunjaPrincess, sorry if it seems we're picking on you, but most sports fans get very irritated when someone starts talking smack but has no idea what they're really talking about, doesn't understand the rules of the game, and can't even be bothered to spell the name of the city correctly (it's really not that hard to do the last one).
eta: I thought Aaron Neville was a terrible choice to sing the national anthem Aretha was fine, but Aaron Neville's style of voice is NOT suited to this sort of song. |
Haha...
I thought all of you Penn girls were from Philly, not Pitt. |
