I'm rather fond of a particular liner, but I can't remember the name! I'm almost positive it's Maybelline. It's liquid, I like liquid liner, but it took me forever to figure out how to put it on without temporarily blinding myself.

Proactiv made me break out.
Yuck!

I use the MAC studio line, it isnt as thick as the clinique superfit I used to use. Doesn't hurt me any!

Two products that are def not hyped u enough-
Benefits Bad Girl Mascara.
Omigosh! people ask me all the time if I have fake lashes on.
The only time it comes off is when I fall asleep on my arm or a pillow.
The other product- Amazing Concealer by Amazing cosmetics. Use just a LITTLE bit (you really have to get a concealer brush) because just a little bit goes really far! I've had the same tube for 6 months and it isn't even a 1/3 gone!
LOVE IT!
Covers EVERYTHING and doesn't come off. I can even use it then put powder on and be done.

Products that I hate:
Pantene (anything)
Clinique lipglosses
Bath and body works shower gel (smells great, but doesnt clean well enough, the shower cream does better).

L'Oreal makes an excellent kohl eyeliner that's under $10.00. I highly recommend it! Or, if you want a department store brand, Lancome makes a kohl pencil that is just as good. (In fact, I suspect that they are the same formula given that Lancome is owned by L'Oreal.) That one's expensive, though; $20+

i've been using it for blemishes and it makes my skin oily and i am geting pimples now. i never really got them before.

It works great for me. I've been using it for almost a year and I love it. I have oily skin and was always having problems and my skin has never looked better. I never had any of the red skin problems either.

Bumping because this is a fun thread.

New opinion on an overrated product: Victoria's Secret Lip Gloss. If you look at my original post that started this thread, I said I didn't like Juicy Tubes because they were too sticky. I now retract that statement, because Victoria's Secret Lip Gloss is like glue, and Juicy Tubes are wonderful by comparision. I think some guy invented the Victoria's Secret Lip Gloss in hopes that he could glue women's mouths shut.

A new love- St. Ives 24-hour moisturizing body lotion. I get dry skin in the winter, particularly on my arms and legs. I just started using this stuff yesterday, and it is awesome.

Tickled Pink 2 12-04-2005 12:06 PM

Anything by Clinique is overrated. SOmeone had tons of it and gave me a whole stash of lipsticks (freebies that they get), mascara, makeup remover, facial moisturizers... I was excited at first, but later I hated it. I got an allergic reaction from the hypoallergenic lipstick.

kddani 12-04-2005 12:20 PM

Another love- Clinique Pore Minimizer instant perfector. This may have been another on KR gave me. It's expensive stuff in a small tube, but this stuff rocks! (and a tube lasts forever).

I don't really use it for my pores, I use it more for shine control. I don't have oily skin at all, but my forehead may get a little shiny come mid-afternoon. Not with this stuff! I rarely bust out my compact anymore

rhochi2002 12-04-2005 12:30 PM

I just started using Mary Kay... my sisterfriend is selling it. It is awesome. I used to use clincic but I only like some of the line. the lotion would break me out. and the mascara wand was giant.
I agree the shower lotion stuff is crap... its weird...
I also tried some estee Lauder mascare and it made my eyes all irritated... so I must be allergic.

Try the MK Timewise microdermabrasion kit; it is amazing! I never liked MK until one of my sisters started selling it and I wanted to help her out so I bought it. I'm glad I did!

Clinique eyeshadow blows. Seriously. You put it on, and within half an hour you'd never know it was there. Where does it go? Who knows...it didn't even settle in the crease in my eyelid, it was just gone. I'll stick with my Maybelline eyeshadows, thanks.

I've been noticing this lately and I'm really annoyed by it - I thought it was because I normally wear lighter colors, but even the darker ones seem to be fading. :(

Me too, for the most part. I have a pair of shades in a taupish color that I purchased recently, and i use the cream base stuff, and that stays on great. But i have the one lilac duo with the base as well, and that's gone by lunchtime!

I'm not sure what to do... i'm brand loyal on some items, an di'm not sure who to turn to!

Me either - I am really finicky with eyeshadows because I wear contacts and I don't like the really powdery ones.

Quoting myself to 1-reiterate that Clinique does indeed suck, and 2-state that I no longer use the foaming mousse cleanser as it sucks as well. :)

I've been fairly satisfied with Clinique. My main problem with them is that they insist that the 3-step skin program is the way to go and that Everyone.Needs.Moisturizer. It's wrong to paint everyone with such a broad brush... there are people out there, such as myself, who do not react well to moisturizer of any sort. I use their soap and clarifying lotion daily, though.

KatieKate1244 12-05-2005 12:51 AM

The Quattro razor. They gave them away free in my school's bookstore, so me and the sisters all went and got one. The shave didn't even last overnight! When I put on my lotion after shaving, my legs BURNED.

I do agree with you on Clinique's skin care. The foaming cleanser works pretty well for me and I like the way the astringent makes my face tingle, but the moisturizer seems like it just sits on top of my skin and makes it look greeeeeeasy. It never seems to sink in the way it's supposed to. Half the time, I don't use it.

And for eyeshadow, guys, it's Maybelline, I'm telling you. I'm so picky, but I've been very satisfied with them. The colors are pretty nice and it stays on! I don't use their other products very much, though, so I can't really say anything about them.

Help!

Off topic-I have large pores on my cheeks and nose (seriously, I think I could be mistaken for a strawberry-especially since i have redcheeks:P) and it's gotten to the point that if i put makeup on, it looks 1) flakey, and 2) on my nose it looks like my pores are clogged. At first, I honestly thought that maybe I just needed to exfoliate-so I tried. Over and over and over, lol. Actually, the other day I used a scrub, then turned around and used those exfoliating cloths from st. Ives, for like 5 minutes- and it helped...some. lol. Anyways, I know there's no magic treatment to make my pores shrink, but does anyone know what I can use to be able to wear makeup AND not look like I need a pore cleanser pronto?:P

Anyways, back to the subject at hand;)
I absolutely hate just about everything from covergirl that I've tried. Powder, foundation, mascara- none of it seems to hold very well! Literally, within an hour or so i need to reapply. One powder I really dig though is the Loreal True Match. It definetely covers my redness and it holds for hours!

SDTSarah 12-11-2005 12:04 AM

This is probably obvious, but I hate La Mer. Quite possibly THE most overrated product. Fortunately I didn't buy it, I only got a sample. My trusty St. Ives 24-hour moisturizer works much better, and it doesn't cost over $100 a bottle.

However, I do love my Laura Mercier foundation. It's got great coverage without being overly heavy.

AOPIHottie 12-11-2005 01:52 PM

I usually don't like any covergirl makeup, but I found this CG stuff(cant remember the name)it is one of those "rewind time" types of foundation. It is FANTASTIC. Smoothest coverage I have ever used, and I really think it helps smooth out some lines. I even got a compliment from my boyfriend about how great my make-up looked, yeah, kinda creepy, but still. He noticed! and I have had compliments about how I look "glowing". So I have found a new one!
Now, my least favorite-Rimmel Lip Boosting lipgloss crap. It is supposed to plump up your lips, but the colors(i have tried 3 different ones) are all very severe colors and very goopy. I do like most of Rimmels other stuff though. But that lipgloss stuff is terrible.

Have you ever tried LM's tinted moisturizer? If not, I recommend getting a sample from the counter because it's excellent in place of foundation.

Personally, I find that Soft Lips chapstick stuff to be kind of mediocre...I LOVE C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Lip Balm from Bath & Body Works. Shea butter! mmm so nice.
