Well sometimes you don't see certain people for a long time and then you have relatives saying of they "went to California, or they went south or they are still in college." Well, here is your chance to see exactly which college they are attending.........

Mail Call...
Hey everybody!
Ok, to anyone who cares, I got letters back today from Mr. Michael Dixon, Anthony Stewart, and Richard Maxwell. Aiight, Michael is so articulate and intelligent it is not even funny. I enjoyed reading his letter. You can tell he likes to read A LOT. He has a son and an associates degree in business. He writes a lot of poetry. He likes ceramics. "I used to love to go bowling when I was free..." That statement made me so sad. He took it back how he started the letter... To: LaChaya From: Michael Date: 4-14-03 Time: 8:35pm Anthony is cool. He has weird handwriting but I like it. His religion is Islam but he isn't practicing. He's got 2 youngins. He's in for drug conspiracy and was in a 4 year school majoring in Poli Sci when he got caught up. Richard Maxwell...hmmm well, either he writes like a 5th grader or he's Hispanic and writes like he talks(???). And I'm mad cuz he's so fine. Homie already asked for my number to call me. He's got 2 chaps...and his kid's mother has remarried. It took him a while to get over that. When I tried to open his letter, it was stuck together which was a little suspect. My friend who watches Oz all the time told me to wear gloves when reading their letters. Haha! Anywho, he sent me a picture of him. He's still fine but aww...he's not all that bright. |

Ooooo! Jail Dude updates!! Also ew at the letter being stuck, lol.
NoN that's so cool that they wrote back though. Keep us updated!!! |
So although Richard is hella fine, he is hella dumb too, huh?
Ah well........ *LOL* and *GROSS* @ the thought of why his letter was sticky! Keep the updates coming! :D |
Today while I was waiting for my nails to dry at the nail salon there was a Jane magazine there. Anyway, this issue (April's) featured an article about men who write to women in jail. They mentioned the Jail Babes website plus a few others. One difference is that the men go visit the women they meet, one man has spent $7000 on travel alone.

Ok, Mr. Michael sent another letter. Keep in mind that I haven't responded to the first (very friendly, non suggestive) letter yet. I sense he may get his feelings involved quickly. I thought I expressed clearly in the first letter that we could be friends and I sent him some encouraging words. Here is his letter:
Dearest, It's Sunday and its raining very badly down here. I was laying in my bed looking out at the fence and I found my thoughts drifting to you. These feelings are mixed at this point, so please do not take offense to the things I'm going to explain herein. Being that my astrology sign is Leo you'll quickly learn that I believe in taking my destiny into my own hands. In my jungle I am the kind, and like any king who has not found his soulmate, I am in search of her! After I thought deeply on some of the things you expressed in your letter I decided to make a decision. I decided to approach this whole situation in a way that will kill all of the usual game playing. Since placing my ad on that website, I have really been meeting all of the wrong women. That was until you came along. My hopes are always for the best, yet I often find myself expecting the worst. I intend to be absolutely honest with you throughout the duration of our friendship, and I sincerely hope that you intend on doing the same. I can only imagine the complexities you endure trying to find common ground when communicating with friends and associates. It's especially difficult when you must interact with so many different personalities. I myself experience this here in prison daily. I have often had dreams of meeting an individual whom I could build a strong foundation in life with. In my younger days I use to play some of the games that foolish people all end up playing. Now that I'm more mature those type of games no longer hold any importance to me. I want security. I want stability within my life and family structure. You have not said exactly what has attracted you to me. I want to know if your interest is sincere. Because of my situation I know from past experiences that being without often causes one's feelings and emotions to be very delicate. This is the case with me. I feel we need to establish an understanding with each other early on. I wish to make it known that I find you beyond attractive in both the mental and physical aspects, yet I'm ultimately scared of growing too attached to you. I just want you to be aware of where my head is at coming into this. As I've mentioned you possess all of the qualities that I directly come to associate with my ideal woman. I have been no stranger to hurt in this lifetime, but I have learned a great deal from it. I would like to know everything there is to know about you and then some. If you feel the same about me do not hesitate to ask any questions I solemnly pledge to answer honestly. Well I just wanted to touch basis with you and these issues as well as let you know how much you were on my mind. Take care and continue to reflect your positive light my way! I do hope to here back from you soon Sincerely, Michael |
   :o :o :o
Girl he sounds SERIOUS as in next letter will be WILL YOU MARRY ME?!?!!?!?!? |
He sounds like this is "letter number 2" in his bag of tricks. He doesn't directly mention anything that you wrote to him, it's pretty general. He says stuff like :
I thought deeply on some of the things you expressed in your letter umm....o.k. What things? I can only imagine the complexities you endure trying to find common ground when communicating with friends and associates. It's especially difficult when you must interact with so many different personalities. Did you tell him that or is he trying to play into something he thinks he knows? I want security. I want stability within my life and family structure. uh huh. I bet you do! LOL I wish to make it known that I find you beyond attractive in both the mental and physical aspects, yet I'm ultimately scared of growing too attached to you. I just want you to be aware of where my head is at coming into this. As I've mentioned you possess all of the qualities that I directly come to associate with my ideal woman. How does he know he finds you physically attractive? You have all the qualities he's looking for? And he knows this after 1 letter? err....o.k. I don't want to appear cynical, but come on man, slow ya roll!! LOL |

Ok, Mike wrote an interesting letter. It could be his way of feeling you out, although I do have to agree with Eclipse on this one....he didn't cite anything specific from your last letter.
It just hit me that if these JD's have access to a computer, then that means that they are on the 'net. Oh well, I hope they don't find there way to GC. :p |
NowOrNever, did you send him a picture of yourself or did you just describe yourself to him?
I found his letter to be very articulate. I'm impressed. The letter did sound like it had been written and saved, like CT4 said, "a form letter." I didn't find it to be spooky or anything because I didn't read it like that. It just seems to me that he is lonely and that he doesn't want to start corresponding with a person that is just in it for a few kicks, then will fall off. I see no problem with being his friend or penpal, but PLEASE be straight up with him and let him know that you are only trying to be cool with him. He is looking for a love connection. It gets like that sometimes. I tell my students that everyday. When you are on the scene, you have friends all over. When you go down, you can't get a letter or visit from these same people that were supposed to ride and die for you.... |
No, i sent a picture. But I thought I made it plainly clear that I just wanted to be a PENPAL....guess I have to break it down for him.
You all are right. I didn't think about the possibility of this being a generic letter. Hmmm. |
Oh my goodness!!! I am just getting around to this thread since ya'll told me about the updates last weekend. TOO FUNNY!
Michael is very articulate...so much for dumb criminal! As for Mr. Maxwell, that comment about him being hella sexy and hella dumb was hilarious! :D |
Wow, why did I never read this thread before?
I know you want to support the brothas and all but this whole letter writing thing is creeping me out. You all do NOT know who you are meeting, you just know that some of them have the CAPACITY for VIOLENT BEHAVIOR. I am so with Eclipse on that letter- it sounded like a formula. How many women have written to him? What is he looking for? Is he still in contact? It is really easy to lie in print y'all. I know what it's like to be lonely and all but this is so not the answer. Read a book. See a movie. Come to GC and chat with all your long lost friends that you never met, lol. All I am saying is PLEASE be careful. |

Why come the fine ones always gotta be lacking in gray matter? |
Sorry to give bad news, but
NoworNever, after reading that letter I clearly know that is a padded letter.... I showed the GC website to my husband, who works in the correctional institution as a lawyer,,, He immediately told me that many of the inmates circulate the different letters they received and have already bogus letters written, this letter definitely sounds like the typical bogus letters that the inmates copy from each other or out of books...
My husband pointed out that this letter is not very credible because the inmate is not connecting on a personal level, he is only saying the things that sounds good to the ears, but nothing of real substance... The stuff Michael "supposely" wrote to you could have been sent to a 1000 other women... He starts the letter with :'Dearest', as opposed to a name, Michael did not mentioned anything specific about your letter, if he even still got the letter.... That is why, this Michael sounds so quick to find 'love' and connection with you, he probably does not have a connection with his family and looking for you and a thousand other women to send him some money or care packages... |
The pic of LaFonz made me think of this thread
Did anyone else (besides NoworNever) ever hear back from their jail dude? :D |
WAIT...HOLD UP
Ok y'all...my educated, intelligent Sisterfriends....I'm just catching this thread and haven't figured out WTF is going on here.
Please, y'all TELL ME...y'all aren't really sending/receiving letters from dudes in prison. I can't open the original link to the jaildudes website because the site is blocked here at the school where I teach. So, like Jessica Simpson, I'm running a blank here. Fill a sista in. |
Resurrection...
I thought of this thread because I just found out today that a co-worker of mine is taking off tomorrow to get married (with a JP) and she PROUDLY admits that she met her husband-to-be over the 'net while he was IN JAIL. !!!!!!

I'm wondering if he's still in there, too!! I'm also wondering about what he did. |
We must all be on the same wavelength because I was just thinking about this thread the other day!!! I've been considering writing to one of the dudes, but I don't have time to carry on a pen pal relationship. And as crazy as folks are these days, I don't need a stalker when/if he gets released.
Anyone still talking to their jail dude/babe? Anyone ready to kick up another writing campaign? |
 @ this thread! Being a former social worker in a prison, I will just tell you all to be careful, because these guys can get very attached to anyone that is there for them. A lot of them are left behind by their family and friends, so they will cling to someone who takes the time to pay attention to them, and get VERY hurt when someone leaves them. I've had hard core gangsters crying in my office talking to their girlfriends on the phone. While I don't think there's anything wrong with being there for someone incarcerated, just be careful for yourselves because they can kick some GOOD game in there! :D
|
Why would anyone want to talk to a man in jail. He ain't got no money. Oh maybe it's the love. HA! I guess.
