Starra v. Joy Behar on religion

http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/59183.htm

HOLY WAR
By DON KAPLAN

A holy war broke out on "The View" yesterday between co-hosts Joy Behar and Star Jones during a discussion about religion.

The argument was spurred by a clip of Barbara Walters interviewing a Palestinian extremist in an Israeli jail, who said anyone who is not Muslim will go to hell.

When Jones began to talk about her personal relationship with God, Behar wanted to know why "this is a public thing?"

"For me, God has been revealed as a Christian through Christ," Jones said.

"This guy wants to kill Jews because they don't believe what he believes," Behar said, appearing to make an attempt to steer the conversation back to the man in the video clip.

As all five of the show's hosts began yelling and trying to talk over each other, Jones said, "It's because religion and people who get caught up in religion cause wars."

Then, contradicting herself, she added, "If you have a relationship, a personal relationship with God, then you are in the spirit with God, you're not causing war."

"This man says his religion makes it justifiable to kill Jews," Behar snapped back.

"I would never agree with that or believe in that," said Jones.

"I'm not Jewish, I just object to the anti-Semitism that goes on in this world," Behar said.

The show then erupted as its other two hosts, Meredith Vieira and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, tried to get a word in edgewise.

As Jones and Behar began to shout even louder at each other, Walters tried to take back control of the live telecast.

"I will not have a war at this table," Walters said. "All we're trying to say is that if you feel your [faith] is the only way, and everybody else is wrong, that is what leads us to discontent."

This is far from the first time that Behar and Jones have clashed on "The View."

Behar was especially brutal during the run-up to Jones' wedding, which Star ceaselessly promoted on TV and in magazines.

The alleged animosity between the two co-hosts has appeared to have grown over the years. So much so that they are rarely seen sitting next to each other during the morning talk show.

No contradiction in my mind. Religion and religiocity (made up word) is different from relationship.

Julio Iglesias’ father dies at 90

Madrid.– Spanish singer Julio Iglesias Jr’s father Julio Iglesias Puga died of a heart attack today, only days after announcing he was to become a father again.

The 90-year-old gynecologist – grandfather of Latin heart-throb Enrique Iglesias – died at the San Carlos Clinic in Madrid, Spain, earlier today.

Five years ago (2000), Iglesias Puga hit the headlines when he married 42-year-old Ronna Keit in Florida, who he went on to have a son Jamie with, in May 2004.

Last week, the couple announced they were expecting a second child together next year.

He married Rosario de la Cierva y Perinon in 1943, with whom he had two sons, Julio and Carlos. Iglesias Puga was divorced in 1983. In December 1981 Iglesias was kidnapped by armed group ETA and held for several weeks. I

n 2004 Iglesias published "Iron Will, the authorized biography of Dr. Iglesias" written by Magel Garcia and Julia Higueras.

BV Buzz 12/26--MJB talks about her family

It's safe to bet that Mary J. Blige won't be spending the holiday season with her family. In a candid interview with the U.K. publication 'Guardian Unlimited,' Blige spoke about being estranged from her immediate family. "The environment that I was in-they'll be mad at me, but it's the truth -- they were angry, hateful, jealous, ignorant, prideful people. My aunts were very, very mean people. I didn't want to be like that but it turns out that everything I didn't want to be I ended up being, and I had to change. I came from that tree. And that's the reason why I've been considered an angry, mad, ignorant black woman in the music business," she added.

Dealing with her mother is a struggle for Blige as well. She believes her mother is envious of her success as a recording artist. "This was her dream. She wanted to do this. It might be that she's living vicariously through me, but I believe she's gotten real bitter about it. It's probably why we've never really got along. Even as a child, she was a little rough on me, because on top of my father leaving, I was singing as a child, and it was what she wanted, but she didn't use it. She didn't have the courage to use it," the singer explained.

Blige adds that her relationship with her father, a one-time aspiring bass player who she didn't meet until she was older, isn't any better than the one with her mother. She and her sister, one-time manager LaTonya Blige-DaCosta, have completely severed professional ties, though Blige would not admit why.

Buzzworthy
Former 'Desperate Housewives' actor Page Kennedy has released a rap track called "Hold On" offering his version of why he was fired from the hit ABC series. On the cut Kennedy griped about the reports that he was fired for exposing himself to cast members, without really giving an alternate explanation. "My departure was part of a particular incident that I'm done mentioning/ What else could I say, they went another way, they recast me right after they unmasked me/ And actually it wouldn't have been as bad as it is, if the tabloids would have been spreading bull- about what I did," he rapped. The actor, who also appeared in Usher's box office bomb 'In The Mix,' gets graphic when disclosing that he'd contemplated suicide. On the track, a gunshot is fired before a little girl screams, "Daddy? Daddy!" Vowing to make a comeback, Kennedy closes the track by saying, "See how the media is bad blooding me, now watch the next project they'll be back loving me. So hold on!"

Janet Jackson is not only prepping a new album for release in 2006 with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri, but the singer is also slated to appear in an upcoming film called 'Tennessee.' The movie, to be produced by Lee Daniels ('Monster's Ball'), will also star Macaulay Culkin ('Home Alone').

Dionne Warwick will be saluted by a bevy of singers to celebrate her 45th year in the music industry. The special will be taped on Jan. 26 at the Kodak Theatre and feature appearances by Stevie Wonder, Mya, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, Isaac Hayes, Olivia Newton-John, Angie Stone, Burt Bacharach and Nancy Wilson, among others. The broadcast date and network will be announced later.

I read a blog last week that revealed that MJB had fired her sister and said that her sister was jealous of her as well. Putting this buzz with that blog makes this even more interesting.

I hope that this isn't her husband's doing. Her family will be there for her. . .:(

Mary and her sister always seemed so close.:(

CT4 and lilbay77, we are ---->here<----

I also know that Mary was close with her mom and that she was beginning to make up lost time with her father. Now she says that she is not talking to most of the people in her family.:( I also wonder if she is still talking to her younger brother(s). I know she has at least one younger brother.

I saw her on Tavis last night where she said she was trying to better herself for her friends and family, and I was thinking "You're not talking to your family!":(

That is what I was thinking.....Plus, how can you be mad at your ENTIRE FAMILY? That makes no sense to me...unless of course, they were really out there but, I don't remember her ever having trouble with her family like this.

Well...I hope that they work it out.....b/c that is really sad.
