how can folks afford coke? i thought it was a bit pricey.

especially at WVU. while I realize there's some folk there who come from money, there's a lot of people that don't.

How does one abuse weed?

They could be snorting crystal meth, which is cheap. Although I think coke isn't as expensive as it used to be...while working in the psych hospital, I noticed more and more people who were on welfare/SSI or had no discernable income addicted to cocaine (that's what they were coming in for, at least). The more wealthy clients that came in were using either alcohol or crystal meth.

There are TONS of kids from Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, and PA that have plenty of their parents money to spend.

Some rumors about pledging fraternities at GMU (some of these are true actually--but where's the fun in saying which ones)

- Initiation = Goats
- Run laps in a field with a pony keg strapped to your back
- Snort liquor
- Swim across the Mason pond
- Paddling
- Assist pledge brothers in going to the bathroom
- Hike back to school from mystery location in woods

And for the sororities...

- Sharing a vibrator (one for the entire sorority, as the rumor goes...rumors are gross)
- Circle the fat

The general ideas of fat circling and underwear presentation to fraternity men are always popular.

At my alma mater, however, the biggest "rumor" was one the sororities fought over -- who had their badge on the moon! Out of the five sororities, three claimed this "honor" -- as if that makes people want to run right out and join!

My school is 60% in state, 40% out. The way I mostly see it, the out of state kids come from money usually, and the in state kids don't. Of course this isn't always true, I know a lot of kids from WV who aren't poor or anything.

In my experience, it's a lot of greeks doing the coke. :( And even if they come from money, I still don't know how they can afford it.. what excuse can you give your parents for needing all that money all the time?

Massive credit card debt.

The rumor that we had was about a water ritual, that we were soaked with water. It was pretty annoying but we started to own it. We just joked about it. We would tell people we would go to the Indian mounds, and douse eachother with water, and the white dresses were part of the cleansing. Then when they were really going, you just ask if they seriously thought we'd just tell ritual to anyone. Then they realized how dumb they were being. (We did not do this to our pledges, that would be too mean, we clairfied pretty early on)

It's kind of funny, but I hope that no one in any way takes this as some sort of twisted bragging or some shit, but like DGQueen and WVU Alpha Phi are saying, coke is ridiculous here.

When I was out in Washington State for some military training this summer, I talked to people from all over the country and usually the one thing that came up the most was how they knew about WVU being a paryt school and they knew about the coke here.

It's sad when you have to wait in a line for the bathroom b/c people are in there partying like rockstars.

Just b/c it's WV, doesn't mean we are poor. Especially the Morgantown area. Down south it's bad, but in the northern part of the state its just like anywhere else. Better than a lot of places I've been to.
