no more shit talking please

I think what Ktsnake meant was that he didn't know if UF was the last 3, but he definately wasn't bein a gentleman. I learned to tolerate him, and I think he offended me more than anyone on this board. Yes, he was egotistical, obnoxious, rude, whatever. But you can't say that sometimes he didn't bring a smile to your face! Ok, maybe not a smile, but he urked your thoughts, and in life there will always be someone like that. BTW, I duno bout anyone else, but I kinda think DGjenniJ99 is him....:p

Let us not foget, that there are rules and when someone Breaks those rules, then they are goner!

This was discussed in the Mod Corner alot!

We do not take it lightly as We have a resposibility to try and do the best for the Whole site!

He was getting totaly off board when posting.

Some may have been funny but many were very funny but very vulgar! Not to some of the degree that some of us may do, but overboard of the things he said!

This is not a Site that you have a right to belong to but a site that you are inviteted to join, Do you want to be one of us? Or not!?

No We are not always right but I have seen Myself and several others who have become Mods who have changed Attitudes about how they post because it is a damn important thing that we do when it comes to banning an Individual!

I do not take it lightly! I take it as a thing that I can do to help my fellow Greeks!

Try and do this site for what its ment for, give bad or good rap but do not be a perfect AssWhole! That Is my Job!:D

I am older than dirt, so dont FU*^ With Me!

Well Just Thought I would Throw that in!

Now, UF_Pike broke the defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscense, profane, sexually oriented rule many many times. And of course, I'm not going to deny that so have many of "us" - but we are still here and we know what limits not to cross. UF_Pike did not. He was asked by his brothers to tone it down, by the moderators, and even John himself. He did not follow John's request and thus, was banned.

The goal of Greek Chat is to make this a comfortable and welcoming place to discuss and even debate greek related things - you can debate and disagree without being disrespectful; and UF_Pike most certainly did not do that.

And so has every one else that slams him back. Drama makes gc go round.

People who disagreed with uf pike certainly were disrespectful. I am not sticking up for him but its pretty funny. This situation is like professional wrestling. There are good guys and bad guys but everyone is pretty much in the same boat. Uf pike certainly was a bad guy and made no bones about it. The people who slammed him.....like the 20 posts after his origional post are all the good guys.

Thrillhouse 07-07-2002 02:06 PM

Another thing too...... uf pike is a lot better than most of the troublemakers on here. It's just that there hasn't been much controversy on here lately and things had been going really good.

That is all.

Thrillhouse,

With due respect for your opinion, I find it hard to believe you were reading the same posts that I was. At least you apparantely didn't feel the same intent on his part as I.

Here's what I think is the difference in this case. In the past members have been banned for being disrespectful or using lewd or otherwise inappropriate language in the course of argument or debate.

In this case, at least as I see it, this guy was using it simply for the shock value. This wasn't debate, it was name calling. I think he was trying to offend. I believe that is a worse offense.

Opinion is one thing. I don't think that was the case here.

So, since it's a matter of opinion -- that's mine.

lovelyivy84 07-07-2002 06:27 PM

UF_Pike was ok.

You just had to know that he was looking for a reaction, and not give him what he wanted. People on GC don't know how to do that, unfortunately.

Thrillhouse 07-07-2002 08:08 PM

Everyone has their own opinions and I respect the other side but like lovelyivy said, its all in how you look at it.

That is all

Dionysus 07-07-2002 08:20 PM

Though I have no problem with UF_Pike, I don't see in ANY WAY what makes him better than any other "troublemakers" on here. I'm surprised that he did not get banned a whole lot earlier.

greeklawgirl 07-07-2002 08:37 PM

I'm not sorry to see him go. Period.

DGjenniJ99 07-07-2002 09:39 PM

I wish I would have become a member on here earlier. I'm not sure how much of a pleasure it is all the time, but I see him out often at certain clubs and bars and we socialize often, good and bad. I too will miss him online if he doesn't come back.

I leave an go to Texas for a week and UFPike is banned. He may have made some poor choices in wording but he was a basically okay guy. He was definitely an interesting character here in GCland.

lionlove 07-07-2002 11:58 PM

Whether you love him or hate him...

he appears to be back. There is a UFPika now posting. I'm not sure if it's the same guy though.

DeltAlum, well said!!

I think it's interesting that so many people are crying foul that UF_Pike was banned. I have to say that his outrageously sexist and offensive posts bothered me from day one, when he first came on here asking why sorority girls are so tripped out and on drugs, and I'm glad he was banned.

To those who think he should not have been banned and that those of us who didn't like his posts should ignore them -- are you saying that it is okay to run around saying things that are blatantly offensive to women, and that we as women should just smile and look the other way?

I would be willing to bet all the money I have in the bank that if this were a race issue instead of gender, many more people would have supported the banning of UF_Pike. I'm betting that if it were a race issue, nobody would say "ignore him" and "he's just trying to get a rise out of you." People would have been PISSED OFF.

As a woman, I take it very seriously when women are demeaned and disrespected. Don't you?

Well, he did say something about Asians and Hispanics. I think both were deleted.

Thank you, valkyrie, for saying EXACTLY what I was thinking! Quite honestly, I find it disturbing that there are women on this board who have stuck up for UF_Pike. In my opinion, that's kind of like a Jewish person sticking up for Hitler. Very, very disturbing. :(
