Brian,
Thats very cool. You got the story right http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Thats awesome how they have the history on Miami's library website. Your right. They probably had no idea that we'd still be learning and talking about it 153 years later. I'm sure if they did know they'd get some good laughs from it but more importantly I think they'd be pretty proud. That we've carried on our tradition and legacy http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Kevin Beta Theta Pi Alumnus George Mason University '97 Epsilon Mu #106 Quote:

This is what I was talking about if you are interested: http://www.lib.muohio.edu/my/miamiyearsVII.html ------------------ Brian Sejas The Miami Chapter of Delta Upsilon, Est. May 13, 1868. |
Kappa Sigma was founded on Dec 10, 1869, at UVA - the zeta chapter (designation for the founding chapter) still exists, and has consecutively for 131 years.
Our historical founding dates back to 1400 ad, at the University of Bologna in Bologna, Italy. |
Alpha Delta Pi was founded at Georgia Wesleyan College on May 15, 1851. We are the oldest sorority in the country. 150 years and counting!!
The Florida State chapter was the ninth ADPi chapter and was founded on January 16, 1909. |
Hey Brian,
Thanks for the link. Most of that story jogs back memories of my pledge education but there are some details that I read that I never knew before. Thanks http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Its amazing how those of us that evolved from Old Miami http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif My eight founders were definitely earnest and spirited young men. It sort of reminds me of the movie, Dead Poets Society, however not exactly. I have yet to see Oxford yet and I want to check it out sometime. Especially our HQ and the Beta Campanile. Alpha Sigma Alpha was founded November 1901 at Longwood College, VA. We will be celebrating our centennial celebration this November! Yeah! ASA has been on the University of Northern Colorado campus since 1914.

Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded on a very very cold Tuesday night, January 10th, 1899 in Illinois-Wesleyan College. It's a young pup in the fraternity world, barely clocking in at 102 years of age.
|
Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity was founded on January 2, 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University. Our Alpha chapter is not active. AOII is the only NPC member not to utilize armorial bearings. Instead, we use the General Jacqueminot Rose. AOII also does not name its chapters alphabetically. It is up to each chapter to choose its own name and the meaning behind it. The AOII New Orleans Alumnae Chapter was founded in 1916. Happy 85th anniversary!

To the Sigma Sigma Sigma girls - sorry about the Tri Sig thing. I had NO idea! We don't have your sorority on my campus, and I don't personally know any sisters. So a thousand apologies. So what is y'all's nickname, then?
