Hi :)

Does your WW leader know you watch your sugar levels? I *think* there is a plan for diabetic WW's just like there is a plan for nursing mommies. Ask your leader. You may have to adjust the plan to fit your needs.

Maybe, I'll let her now when I see her tomorrow. I adjust my own insulin levels anyway and that's what I have been doing since I started

I went to get weighed in this morning....

I lost 3.6 pounds in the first week!!! YAY ME!!!! :D

Didn't have a chance to stay for the meeting because I had a hockey game, but hopefully I will be there for the next one.

Ideal08 01-10-2004 05:15 PM

I did WW about 2 years ago. I went to the meetings consistently for 5 weeks, then my job got a little more demanding and I stopped going. I lost about 25lbs, though (did an exercise plan, too). After I moved to DC, I continued to watch what I ate, even though I didn't count points. I also continued to exercise. But this summer, everything seemed to fall off. I've gained back about 18lbs (:(). I started back on WW this week, doing it on my own, and I plan to stick to it. I have an online WW buddy as well as a good friend who is doing it, too.

I don't buy anything that I can't eat. I also don't go out to eat at restaurants that I know will make me go over my points. The frozen meals do help, as does planning your meals the day before.

The hardest thing for me is drinking water.

Congratulations on completing your first week!!! :)

Yeah! Way to go, Lady Pi Phi!

That's great! That's the best motivation! I had a friend that did WW with me before our weddings and every 10 lbs she lost, she treated herself to a pedicure.

Hubby and I went out to eat at Chili's last night so I think I blew my points, even though I only ate about 1/2 of my meal. It was the chips and salsa that did me in.

Keep it up! :D

WLFEO 01-11-2004 07:10 PM

Man, I know what you mean about the chips & salsa! One WW leader told us to take 15 chips out & put them on a separate plate, then break them each in half before we eat them. Then we'll feel like we're not cheating ourselves out of chips & salsa. That's her theory, anyway. I've never found it quite that easy but maybe it will help someone else out there.........

I'm supposed to be going out for sushi with a friend of mine sometime this week and I know the book has the point value for sushi but it doesn't seem to have them for california rolls. Does any one know the points value for those?

On another note, again my blood sugars are out of wak, I've even reduced my dosage again.
It's frustrating!

Do you think you should talk to your doctor about it? I really don't know anything about it- it sounds like you keep good track and regulate yourself, but maybe your doctor would be able to help.

CatStarESP4 01-12-2004 05:47 PM

Tomorrow, I am going to my meeting! After missing three weeks due to being on vacation , my status as a member it still up in the air. If I have to rejoin, I will do so. I am a little scared though. Wish me luck!

Lady Pi Phi, I noticed that on Dottie's Weight Loss Zone

www.dwlz.com

there is a section for diabetics. There might be some tips for you there, in addition to seeing your doctor. It may help to hear what people in the real world do to work with the program.

Oh, I need to go back to WW!! It's about the only thing I can stay with for any length of time. I can pretty much have what I want IF I will count the points.

Only drawback, I hate vegetables!! Anyone else have this problem?? At WW, they just tell me "EAT THEM ANYWAY!!"

ummm......no:p

CatStarESP4 01-14-2004 02:08 AM

I went to the meeting tonight. They still had my card on file, but I had to pay a rejoining fee to keep my membership current. Had I waited another three or four weeks, I would have to register again. That is the good news. The bad news is that I gained 6.8 lbs. However, I know that I can lose them and more!

I couldn't find the section on diabetes :( , but I'll keep looking.

My problem isn't with vegetables. I actually really like them. My problem is with water. I never drink enough water.

mu_agd 01-14-2004 10:57 AM

lost 3 last night, although technically only 1.5 since i gained 1.5 the week before...

toocute 01-14-2004 11:09 AM

Way to go everybody!! I may start counting points again in the coming weeks. I'll be using my materials from the 1-2-3 plan.

What exactly are flex points? I hear some people love it or some can't stand it and stick with the old plan.

they don't have a point range anymore for the day. you have a set number of points to consume. so intead of it being between 21-25 points, you have 24 points. flex points are 35 points that you can use whenever you want throughout the week. you can divide it to give yourself an extra 5 points per day, use them all in one day, or not use them at all. it's up to you to decide if you want to use them and how. does that help?

too bad i'm horrible at actually keeping track of points. but i'm trying to be good!

Lady Pi Phi, I found it !!!

on Dottie's, click on Message Board. Scroll down to The Health Zone and it is the first one in that group. Also, there is a section on diabetic recipes near the bottom of the message board page.

:)

I am so bored at work.

I have the bad habit that when I am bored I snack. I'm doing ok, I haven't snacked, but I need to do something, other wise I'm pretty sure I'll break down and have something bad to snack on.

What do you guys do when you feel this way?

Yay!!! Way to go!

I succumbed(sp?) to my cravings and had a chocolate bar. That's okay though, I still have plenty of points.

I'm a little scared about getting weighd in on sasturday, fo some reason I don't feel like I've lost anything this week, and I'm scared of putting any on. I've stuck to my points, but I don't know.

I don't want this to discourage me if I do put on some weight, because I am easily discouraged.

I love weight watchers ... this is my second time doing it and i have lost 9lbs in 4 weeks ... i think it is one of the best weight loss programs outthere cause you can eat anything you want

Mz Destiny 01-15-2004 07:33 PM

Weight Watchers is one of the most nutritionally-sound programs out there right now. I did it last year and lost about 30 pounds. Unfortunately, I had to stop so I did gainsome of it back, but that wasn't due to WW. That was due to me slipping back into my old eating habits. I'm thinking about doing it again, but on my own this time. I am the Points guru. Even though I'm not on it right now, I still find myself saying how many points something has. Once you can look at any label and tell immediately how many points are in a serving of XYZ, you've arrived.

Smart Pop microwave popcorn with "I can't believe it's not butter' spray. I believe that's a 2 pts snack.

Lady Pi Phi 01-16-2004 02:22 PM

Does anyone know how many points California rolls are.

I'm going out for sushi tonight and I've never had the fish before. I know the books have points for shushi but not the vegetable sushi.

I'm thinking I might try the fish tonight anyway, but I could chicken out at the last second.

I have to go get weighed tomorrow so I don't want to blow my points. Although I do have all my flex points available.

I looked it up in one of my weight watchers books and it said california rolls are 2 points for 4 pieces. Hope that is helpful.

That's excellent. Thanks!

BSP_Nicole 01-16-2004 05:35 PM

I did WW for a while, not going to meetings, but I signed up online, it has a place where you put in what and how much you ate, and it totals the points for you. It was a lot cheaper than going to meetings ($15 per month for online), but you don't have the face-to-face support that you get at the meetings. I did lose weight while I was doing the program, but they I slacked off...

Not only do the frozen WW meals have the points on them, but I think it's Lean Cuisine that also puts how many WW points it is (it's on the side of the box, not the front).

Good luck to all who are doing the program!

Nicole

Lady Pi Phi 01-17-2004 10:28 AM

Another 2.2 pounds lost...for a grand total of 5.8.

Only 4.2 pounds more to lose till I reach the 10 pound mark and I am off for my treat...an hour long massage!

mu_agd 01-17-2004 11:29 AM

congrats!!!

and i'm glad i'm not the only one who bribes herself to lose weight! although, since i've rejoined, my first goal is 20 and i have 8 more to go!!
