REALLY ??!! You got to move up to HS ??! I'm happy you got what you wanted ! :D |
I'm a 5th grade teaher. :D This will be my 2nd full year teaching.
|
I haven't taught school since I was pregnant with my first child (who's now 21 and graduating from college), but I have taught everything from kindergarten to 8th grade. I've taught science, english, literature, remedial reading, remedial math, first grade, and kindergarten.
Every time I'd go back to get another degree, they'd change the parameters-with my BSED, I could teach anything in grades K-8. With my masters, it was K-6; with my sixth year degree, they squeezed it down to PreK-4th; AND my class was the class that just missed the cut-off for Lifetime Teacher Certificates! We just couldn't win!:( |
I'm an NYC public school teacher. Currently I teach Pre-Kindergarten in the Bronx. We have our stepping up ceremony & it's going to be really hard to say goodbye!

Yes, I'm a Teacher and I have been for several years!:) I enjoy teaching kids to read and improve their scores in reading on the proficiency tests! I get results if I do say so myself:D I've had expereiences with children from k-8 grades. Ive taught middle school 4th and 5th, 1-2 and currently 2nd grade. I've been self-contained and departmentalized! it has it challenges but never a dull moment! I actually will contact my kids over the summer to make sure that they are reading so they can keep their skills up!

I will soon begin my first year teaching 8th grade language arts at a charter school in Florida.
I, too, get annoyed with fellow teachers and administration (and that's just from one semester of student teaching!) and don't know how long I'll stick with the profession. Plus, as much as I enjoy teaching, there are a lot of other things I want to do as well. |

Used to do special ed (RSP program) but finally left after burning out from lack of support from staff, principal, 1 student being held for murder, & parents that give death threats.
Off topic, I have 2 sisters that teack K & 3rd grade in Los Angeles. They carpool to work & were carjacked at gunpoint today when they left their school. :( |
I will begin my first year of teaching (Kindergarten) this August in an inner city school in Miami. I am ultra motivated and super excited at the chance to make a difference in the life of young children. I have a challange ahead of me, but my goal is to give my students a foundation to last them their entire school careers!!
:D |
I'll be starting my 4th year teaching this August.
I teach 10th grade World History, both regular and honors classes. This year I'll also be teaching out beginning Peer Assistance class, which teaches basic skills to do conflict mediation and giving kids someone their own age to talk to. I can't wait for that class! Ktsnake....I am a part of our AVID site team, and have a lot of AVID students in my classes. Those kids are awesome to have in class. |
Two of my older daughters--one has a master's and one has a bachelor's--are probably going to do alternative certification to become teachers. They're in critical fields (Spanish, science) and they want to be employable wherever they live, which they would certainly be in this state. They also want to have the same breaks as their future children would have.
As teachers, my husband and I have mixed feelings. Teaching is satisfying and does allow you to be with your own kids but there are those psycho parents and administrators to deal with. And there's always some unmeetable standard that some government official has dreamed up that makes everyone crazy....cough cough, No Child Left Behind. Wonderful idea, impossible to attain. |
