From first contact to invitation to membership: approximately 30 days.
From invitation to membership to initiation: 2 months.

Delta Gamma:
Made contact in October
Initiated in March
(Mine would be an exception though, as I had various internal contacts assisting me)

For another DG that I know:
Hers took nearly 2 years, due to miscommunication, etc.
However, she is a DG today and that's all that matters, right?

While to some Posters who are asking about AI, it is not an easy process as many have said.

But, some GLOs are more accepting than others for many Reasons.

As I have always said, depending on the GLO, it can be a longer or shorter Process.

None will be easy.

I can say that Many on GC are and have been tying for some time and have never given up.

Those that attained Memebership are to Be Commended and it is well desearved.

Never Let Your Dream be wasted, just keep trying and hang in there.

Those that never want to attain will never make it!:)

Excellent advice, Tom.

I think the hardest part of the process for me was trying to show my interest without looking pushy. It can be difficult to know where to draw the line.

There were a number of times when I thought all was lost and was nearly ready to give up. But what I didn't know was that things can be held up behind the scenes that have nothing to do with you... particularly in the GLOs where AI is very rare.

Sometimes it's a matter of waiting for the once or twice a year General Counsel meeting to be voted on. Or maybe someone slipped up and didn't hand in all the paperwork or filled it out incorrectly. Or your local chapter could be waiting for the collegiates to have their next initiation.

It's good to have an advocate inside the organization so that they can oversee the process and make sure nothing slips between the cracks.

I'm an exception--it was less than a month. I called, told them I had been a member of colony that chartered, they sent me the form, I returned it and it was done. I was initiated on Valentines day by my chapter a two weeks later.

DPhiEs process is not as strenuous as other groups--although you do need to have a member sponsor you, so that may require getting to know someone if you do not already.

My experience was shorter than some others had been, but it seemed like it took AGES!! My first contact was in January of 2005 and I was initiated in November '05.

Being an AI has been a WONDEFUL experience and I am so glad that I found my home in Gamma Phi Beta. :)
