I wonder what they will call it? What type of clothes are marketed to "over 35"? Petite Sophisticate type stuff?

I think it's really for people who are 40+, not "over 35" as the article says. Another article said that it was for "Baby boomers", which means people born between 1946 and 1964.

So...Talbot's?

(And the thread is back from whence it came. Ah, the circle of life...)

I must have seen that Gap commercial 10 times today. I agree that SJP does not look good as a brunette.

From NY Post:

She stole the show at the Grammys, and now it seems blond Brit Joss Stone is stealing the Gap ads from Sarah Jessica Parker. Gap spokesman Sean Krebs confirmed to PAGE SIX's Lisa Marsh that the sexy soul siren is its new spokesbabe. "We are shooting her in Los Angeles this week for the summer 2005 television campaign," Krebs said. "Joss Stone will be prominently featured and we are very excited." The ads hit the airwaves on April 28.

I like Joss, but you can't beat SJP.

OK I like SJP,but c'mon "pretty khaki?"

Those two words don't belong together. I don't care who is wearing it. Khaki will never be pretty.

They are trying to make khaki feminine and flirty instead of boring and drab. It's a great idea to sell it...but I don't buy it.

Haha, I totally agree with you, hottytoddy. But, I looooove the commercial. I always have to stop everything I'm doing to watch it. I know...sounds kinda pathetic. :(

That is the same thing I think when I hear people talking about khaki pants being badge attire. I know there are khaki colored pants that are nice, but I think of khaki pants being made of that material.

I think SJP is okay, but I don't think she makes the best spokesperson for the Gap. She's kinda funny looking. Also, she's known for her personal style which seems to be "out there" for lack of a better term. Gap has nice clothes, but they're more classic in style. I'm not sure about using Joss Stone as a spokeswoman. I really like her, but not a lot of people really know her yet.

Now that I have seen this thread, the song is stuck in my head.

"I enjoy being a girl..."

I don't think it really matters. GAP didn't use celeb spokespeople until recently.

Define "recently."

Like in the last few years. I don't recall anyone famous in GAP ads until Glenn Close (she was before Madonna, right?).
