Is it Still Going to Happen
 

I was wondering if anyone knew if this book was still going to be made into a movie. I remember reading this book about three years ago, and reading in a magazine that it was going to be made into a movie, but I never heard anything else about it.

Jada Pinkett-Smith was on Oprah about a month ago and she said that they were still going to make the movie. But first, it has to be re-written as a script . Also, I think that Jada may be playing Winter-which I think would work. Maybe soon...

I have read this book twice and it was soooo good. I mean I could not put it down.

Then, once I told everyone in my office about it, they were reading it too.

It was an awesome book and I would like to read No Disrespect also.

Let me start by saying GREAT BOOK. I read it last November on my way to California. Excellent depiction of what really goes on within the black community. In may I sent my copy to my friend that is in Kuwait. He wrote me and told me he loves it. I can't wait for the moive.

For some reason I can't see Jada as Winter.

Me neither. I think it's because Winter is described as very curvy in the book. Jada is very petite. Also, Winter is only 17, I think, when the story is taking place. Jada is a beautiful woman but I wouldn't buy her as a teenager.

I think Beyonce could be a believable Winter if her hair was darker. If only she could act :rolleyes:

I kind of think that Jada can pull it off. I don't know. Personally, I would like to see Omar Tyree's "Fly Girl" made into a movie.

I read Jada's company and HBO has a deal with the book. I just hope it doesn't turn into a straight to cable and video movie like Disappearing Acts. I believe this movie could top the box office charts at the theaters. Everyone who has read the book seem to visualize the characters in their own way. ME and my friends thought Gianacarlo (Big Brother Almighty from School Daze and various Spike Lee Joints) would make a good Santiaga.That is if he has not aged too much. One of the sisters from Deliver Us from Eva could be Winter.

I agree about Giancarlo playing Santiaga. However, the only sister from DUFE I could see playing Winter would be Meagan Good. How about Derek Luke for the role of Midnight?

I recommend Rosario Dawson for Winter or some unknown talent. As long as I do not see Bryonce, Ashnappy, or J Lo. . . I am :D

I read in Essence the same thing about a month ago, when Jada was on the cover. She said they were working on it but didn't give any details.

I like Giancarlo and Mekkhi. I don't know about Whitney though :D

Why was I thinking that the girl from "Save the Last Dance" would be good for Winter? You know, the girl that was the ex-girlfriend. I think she would be good.
