Not going to get into any Kappa Sig stuff on the board, but an interesting story having to do with this:

I was talking to an alum at one of our Conclave's a couple of years ago. Seems he was in a Kinko's and saw a young woman making copies at a machine...he was waiting for the same machine so was in line behind her. She quickly made the copies and walked off quickly.

When he got to the machine, he saw that the girl had made two copies of the book, not one. The book happened to be a ritual book of a pretty well-known fraternity. He ended up calling a brother of that fraternity that he knew and giving him the copy.

Just goes to show the perils of written ritual and why some people know things they shouldn't.

I don't get why you are saying that you can't say anything. What's the point. I don't mean to start a war, but if you aren't gonna talk about your ritual, why waste the time to just say that you can't say anything. fine. you have oral or written ritual. but i don't get why you can't say it when your brothers have said which you have? anyhow.

Ritual is a tough thing for copies, i'd imagine you'd have to do it inhouse, and not use a public location. but if you are able to physically run your own copies, then it would be fine. But also remember, the average citizen doesn't give a hoot about our rituals. Most people have probably never heard of all our orgs, and then have no clue what they really do or give a damn. so maybe all up tight worry on here is worthless. i mean if you can't talk about it, don't mention it, just don't even post, but if you can, and feel comfortable, go for it. but why anyone cares about what another org stands for is beyond me. esp when you'd never be able to join, what does it matter?

I think KT is trying to be clever and satirical. But ya...the joke is running a little dry there.

I'll save him the trouble of a response. Here it is:

"I can not confirm or deny the cleverness of any joke"

APO does print ritual books and they are available from the national headquarters.

I can neither confirm, nor deny, why I say anything in this thread.

SAE, like most other fraternities so far as I am aware, does print its ritual, but only in limited quantity. Each volume is individually numbered and apart from chapters collegiate (a limited number per chapter), chapter advisors, national and regional officers, and members of the national ritual committee (I think that about covers everybody), not just any member can get a copy for himself. These books are, naturally, published privately, thought I have no idea by whom exactly.

I think each of our chapters gets 3 ritual books? I've never been on ritual team so I don't know for sure. But I'm pretty sure Nationals is the only one that makes them. A lot of important stuff from our ritual, though, is oral, so if someone got a hold of the ritual book, they wouldn't really get too much out of it.

This thread was bumped because of this?

Goddamnit.

knight_shadow 03-13-2009 12:52 PM

^^^ It's almost as bad as the other thread he bumped, where he encouraged us to read every page and summarize for him.

At least this thread is kinda funny. :)

My org... the national office prints the books (we've got a nice cool Xerox dohickie that makes books) and then the interns spiral bound them. Books are sent out via FedEx and numbered. But nothing really important is in the books... it's all in the mind....
