Members of Zeta Phi Beta know they should behave in a way to know bring negative attention to the sorority. Now whether or not they actually DO this is another story. But believe that if I see a Soror acting up I will pull her to the side and remind her of our oath.

It all depends on how you go about it.

At the beginning of pledging, we tell the new girls that they are always representing SAI and should keep that in mind in all that they do. So actually, we guide them, not censor them.

I don't suppose you can actually regulate it, but I would sure hope that he or she would remember the values of his or her group, and model his or her behavior accordingly.

I think that this depends on the region. Southern GLOs, particularly sororities, seem to be far more effective at regulating the behavior of members, than Northern ones.

Member Chapters of National Greek Organizatins do have the right to tell and expect certain attitueds and conduct from PNM (Possible New Members).

There are written Rules which are voted on by the Members at National General Assemblys that are expected to be followed by The Active Members and laid out for how THe PNM are treated.

If you do not want to be a Member, and you do not have to be! If you are a member and are in violation of National Rules if they apply, you can be expulled and your Chapter Charter Suspened.

Expelled= A chance to be reinstated.

Expulled= Not ever to be reconsidered a Member and Name Erased From the rolls.

It is not A Right to be a Member of an Organization, but a Privilage.

That's an intresting concept, I never thought of it that way. Sororities that were established in south tend to be stronger down south but I never thought of them as more effective. Can anyone explain why that might be?

Simply, Reason being, when any Greek Organization was Founded whether Before 1900 or shortly after, Areas nearest were the easiest to work with and start because of the cost of travel along with "Cant get there from here"!

Example: While The Majority of Fraternities/Soroities were founded East of the Mississippi River, that is where they tried to expand new Chapters! Depending of course on what part of the Eastern Area they were Founded out. North or South.

The two prevelent Starting Places for a Larger Group of Fraternitys were, The Union Triad, in NY and The Miami Triad in Ohio. I beleive there were two places where Soroitys were Founded in Triads in a short period of time! Help Me AGD, and GPB!

One of the Soroitys, not sure off of the top of my Head was Founded in Ark. West of The Big Misissipi!:) Either AX or AXO.

LXA was one of the first to Found a Chapter in Cal. at U. Cal. Berkley now. The other that paralleld us was I think AEPi. This was due to The Original Founders of all Orgaizations to Become NATIONAL! National, Border To Border... Next was International, Canada, which is out side of The US!

As time and travel became easier, The Greek Organizations expaned to other areas.

But, in the beginning, time, cost and distance prevailed on expansion.:)

Greek Organizations are like anything else, Cost, Time, Ability to stay in Contact with and a multidue of things have a lot to do with the moves that are made even in this day and age.!

That is Why, AGD is the only National Soroity in Ha. and that there are so few Greek Organizations in Alaska! LXA being one of the few.
