Well said!! |
Really, the only important thing in life is finding the perfect $200 shoes to go with your $50 dress.

What she said! I mean heck the only time you are going to wear that white dress is for initiation, which is once or twice a year!
I mean hell, I got my dress from the Newport News Catalog for $15. I was not trying to be a fashion plate! BTW, Target has some nice clothes and one of the only places I can find jeans in my desired length. (I wear longs) :D Quote:

It seems that these days, every time I ask someone where she got a cute item of clothing, the answer is Target. I've got no shame about browsing their clothing racks when I'm there. I like Bama_Alumna's take on it - nobody is going to go pull the tag out of your black tee (or your white dress) to see whether it came from Target or Neiman Marcus.

I got my white dress from a thrift store for $4. It looks fantastic, no one knows where I got it until I tell them that my Ralph Lauren dress was a great thrift store find.
Unfortunately, we don't have a Target where I live! I've gotten some cute shirts there when I've traveled, though. |

I apologize in advance if this sounds bitchy :)
I can pretty much afford to buy my clothes wherever I want, and in my closet there are some pieces from Target. ( ) To my way of thinking, if I like something, I like it and it doesn't matter to me where it comes from. But that's just me. I guess I'm at a point in my life where no one else's opinion counts when it comes to how I dress myself :) |
As far as cheap shoes, the main reason a lot of people hate them (the first time I told my mom I bought shoes at GC Murphy's, she had a cow) is that they used to be made very poorly, with no arch supports and too-tight toes, and were very hard on your feet and hurt to walk in. They've come a long way as far as comfort. They might still fall apart, but I don't see the point in wearing Jimmy Choos to a bar with beer & crap on the floor and ruining them - that is what cheap shoes are for.

What if a member makes her own white dress?? That's what I'm planning on doing for our Convention because I can't find a dayum thing that fits me and looks presentable.
Does that make me (watch out, I'm busting out the T word) tacky?? :p |

I think the white dress alone will make you tacky. :p Seriously, y'all - it's a white dress for ritual. If I was ritual chair or guard of the door or whatever, I wouldn't say "Suzie is that from J.Crew or BRep? If it's not you can't be initiated!" I'd say, "It's white, looks good to me!" Way to go, James, on instigating over something totally unnecessary again. |
I totally wore a white nightgown for ritual when I was an undergrad. Nobody knew it was a nightgown! :p And I know that was tacky. But... it looked just fine & I only wore it for like an hour.

Target has some really cute clothes and they are getting more and more big names to design stuff for them. I only wish they had a bigger plus-size section...and sometimes their shirts can be cut very small so I have to go up a size or two to get one that fits properly. But I buy clothes from them. :) They're a really good source of workout clothes for me too.
I will buy things like socks and national brand stuff (Playtex, Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, etc.) from Wal-Mart but I don't really go to them as a clothing source. And I am a bargain shopping queen...I love going to places like Marshall's and TJ Maxx and outlet stores. I try not to pay full price for things if I can help it! :D |
