It's just that Bible Belt thinkin'. Hate to be prejudiced, but the trend seems especially prevelant among people from rural towns.

Ahhh...that could've been the culprit. They're Christian, and practicing Christians, unlike me. Sometimes I think young practicing Christians rush marriage so they "smash" w/o feeling guilty, lol.

I have a friend who starts talking marriage within the first month she's with a guy! That's nuts! (Of course said friend has been DESPERATE to get married since high school. Hasn't happened though.)

You won't believe how many people, after my boyfriend and I broke up after five and a half years, thought it was because HE wasn't ready to marry ME. It was like they couldn't comprehend that it could possibly be the other way around! (Which it was.)

I cosign on this thread. If I had married my ex-boyfriend right after college I would not be where I am today...happy, and in a great career. I'm 28, and I've been with my BF for 4 years and we aren't married and I'm ok with that. I want to get married eventually. Thankfully many of my friends are like me...old spinsters! :)
