I've been collecting a series of Hallmark ornaments and I spaced out and forgot to buy it for two years. So luckily I was able to find them on eBay. I have also sold a ton of books and CD's on half.com which is now part of eBay.

Oh the best score I made was a cigarette lighter charger for my cell phone. Sprint PCS charges $20 but I found it on eBay for $5. YES, it does work! And the seller even added a free reception booster thingy to my order. That, however, did NOT work. ;)

Like someone said above, check out the seller's profile. If someone has sold 1000 items and no one has complained, I think you can trust them!

I probably wouldn't bid on something if the seller has very low feedback numbers or negative feedback that indicates a trend.

I've purchased a few things from ebay over the years: an Alpha Phi badge from 1928, a History of Alpha Phi book, some random jewelry, butterfly pins, a Kate Spade (guaranteed authentic with tags, from someone who only sold one Kate Spade bag), Kate Spade shoes (didn't fit), some original artwork (pencil drawings of cats), and a Louis Vuitton (guaranteed authentic, with tags and a receipt, also from someone only selling one designer bag), a horseshoe necklace (last year).

I have been really, really happy with everything *except* the jewelry (not the A Phi pin, though, because that is GORGEOUS). When you're buying inexpensive jewelry, somehow they are always able to make it look much better in the pictures than it does in person. I think the only jewelry I'd buy from ebay in the future is real vintage stuff.

Half.com

eBay's sister-site Half.com is also great for getting NEW books at very good prices! That is where I got my Southern Belle Primer and also a few other books I read for leisure. You can also sell your college textbooks there and probably get more than you would from your local college bookstore.

I've only bought one thing (due to lack of monetary supply) and it was a Gone In 60 Seconds movie poster in italian. :) I'm a HUGE fan of the movie and my grandpa is italian..so..just had to get it :)

The boyfriend got his DDR pads and his PS1 from E-Bay. Actually, he's gotten 2 sets of DDR pads. The cheap ones died, so he got us a set of the ignition pads. Good stuff - easy on the feet if you can play anything above a 4 footer.

I'm such a dork :p

I ordered some DG greeting cards and a DG tote bag.
They were fine, but when I considered the exchange rate and what not, it was somewhat disappointing.

I've been TRYING to purchase Sigma Nu history books and a Jim Bean decanter that was made special for Sigma Nu...

Optimist Prime 10-14-2002 10:19 AM

History books get expensive :( for fraternities I mean.

Kevin 10-14-2002 10:20 AM

Yep.. not real bad.. around $30. Fortunately it was a pretty widely published book. The Jim Bean bottles though go for aroun $50..

I'm too poor.

well i would have had something to add to my list of stuff I have bought on eBay, but some random person outbid me at the last possible SECOND...grrrrrr.

oh well.. maybe it was a sign :p

I bought a stupid silver Christmas tree with a color wheel for my stepdad and yesterday I bought a Lambda Chi Alpha badge for one of my husbands fraternity brothers.

I've bought a few random things before but I haven't looked in quite a while. I've been pleased with everything I've purchased...various CDs, some Phi Mu stationary, a Monet print, a pair of earrings (99 cents..sterling silver ladybug studs!), etc. By far my best deal was finding a Seiko Kinetic Watch (brand new and authentic) for $75 when it retails in the store for over $300. :)

I've been looking for this thread for like 5 minutes.....lol

okay.....

Redfox got me addicted the other night with her "winning" talk. Sooooo......I decided to get back on and see what I could get.

So far.... I won an Allman Brothers tshirt, Britney magazine purse, and I'm looking at some more concert tees.

Yay for ebay!

ISUKappa 02-11-2006 09:49 PM

I have to be one of the most random eBayers. I've bought Kappa stuff, ATO stuff (for the husband), antique glassware, clothes, makeup (BareMinerals for half price!), a digicam, and an air intake system for the husband's truck.

I've yet to have a negative experience, but I'm also a fairly picky buyer. I always check feedback, shipping and payment options before bidding on things.
